I have received 5 or 6 new books from people there.

I find twitter very useful for pointing me to things I'd never have found on my own. I like it.

I agree with you Aveline and GrannyGravy. I follow people and topics which interest me. Occasionally, they post links to in-depth articles, but it's my choice whether I follow up.

I don't understand twitter much but it has the buses and local road updates so use it for that.

The other interesting thing about Twitter is the possibility of direct interaction with people who interest you. I've had great replies from some writers I like and also various others including Eric Idle who liked something I wrote. It feels quite immediate and accessible. Try it and persevere. I know some other Grans are on Twitter btw.

Aveline

I like Twitter. It is what you make of it. I follow topics and people that interest me. It's been very interesting getting direct info from people in Ukraine for instance. Among other things I follow artists, German Shepherds and lots of writers. It's all entirely up to you what your Twitter feed contains. You can block people if you don't want to read their tweets.

Exactly this.

Each to their own
I find Twitter really interesting and informative
My account is 'locked' so no random followers for me

My account is locked also.

Hmmm. Where does that leave Gransnet Cabbie21?

Wastes too much time, Aveline!

I don’t know why, but I’ve never properly got into it.
It’s probably for the best as I waste far too much time as it is.
I spend a lot of time browsing daft rubbish on Reddit.
I’m now thinking that I ought to start using Twitter ?‍♀️
Damn you nanna8!

I think the random followers are fake accounts, I’m sure someone will know more than me.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 25-Sept-22 07:15:07

I agree with you Aveline I follow authors, animal related accounts, a selection of MPs along with a cross section of news outlets.

Do you bother with twitter? I don’t, personally ,though I have an account. It seems a waste of time but they keep telling me people are ‘following’ me. Nonsense as far as I’m concerned.
