Anyone still thinking of voting tory at the next General Election?

This bad time is happening all over the world.It’s just very bad timing that everyone wanted Boris out and we are having to be led by a lady that will I think grow confidence in time. She has taken over at a horrid time. I will vote Conservative.

I have never voted Tory, never would. I'm probably part of their target audience - well off and comfortable, but no - I have a moral compass and a conscience. I do not believe their should be nonsense like 'trickle down wealth'. That translates as 'crumbs off a rich man's table' (or 'persons' table if you prefer).

I want a thriving NHS and thriving Public Services from e.g. education, police, prison officers, carers etc. these are the areas where their are staff - this is where incentives need to be directed, not to the bankers, where there is no shortage at all.

Much better we think with our moral conscience engaged rather than with our wallets in mind.

I just remember thinking how selfish a thing to say it was. Only concerned with their own personal situation / wealth.

Better the devil you know they say! I wasn't that impressed with Boris and these two do not exactly fill me with confidence….. its not exactly rocket science to promote policies that will help nurses…free travel ….parking … help with accommodation etc. and stop foreigners buying up our properties and leaving them empty . We need housing! Not to mention allowing people in who are trained and can offer something to this country! It would help if peoples criminal records were checked before they are allowed in too!!

I think all parties should be banned from commenting on the others ideas and policies. Too much time is spent bitching at each other instead of pushing forward and getting things done! No wonder the country is in such a mess! Why can't they understand that the other party might have some ideas worthy of taking forward and work together.
Ideally, I'd like to abandon Party politics and for the people who win localised elections to sit around a table in Parliament and make the decisions as to how our country is run. They can spend the campaigning money on employing experts to assist them where needed (eg doctors to assist with NHS matters and teachers to assist with education matters - why do politicians think they are better placed than the people at the rock face to make decisions about industries that thye have no practical knowledge of? But mostly, they should all stop bitching and learn to work together for the common good.

They should have had an all party “committee”? (Sorry my vocabulary seems to be deserting me) to deal with Covid for a start.

Sticking my head above the parapet here, I was pro Boris and wish he was still PM. Not mad about Liz and Kwasi but I will almost certainly vote Tory in the next election but who know what will happen between now and then. I could explain why I am a Conservative, but it would take up too much space but it is to do with freedom of choice.

an interesting concept. I quite liked the freedom of having workers' rights, oh and Human Rights. The freedom to have clean water and excellent husbandry. The freedom of access to good health care, and education. And also the freedom to go and live and work in Europe, be it for a few years, or for a new life.

Yes, I love that kind of freedom.

Many people are now free to be poor, free to not be warm or feed themselves or the kids. And they now do not even have the freedom to manifest that 'love of freedom' in the streets.

This weak has been disastrous for the Tories with the tax reduction for the wealthy, but it will be nothing compared to the reaction to the cuts in benefit and getting rid of the triple lock whilst continuing to cut tax.

I have never voted Conservative have voted Labour all my life but now they have gone towards the right I will vote for one of the lesser parties.

These people are turning us into a third word nation…..I’m pensioner and after taking care of my husband for 27 of our 50 year marriage after his stroke …he’s now in a residential care home as my health has plummeted….. I have to pay toward his care (£900) per month ….after my bills are paid …I will have £40 per week to ‘live’ on! After 48 years of hard graft…. buying our own house and NEVER asking for a Penny benefit after my husbands stroke …but just working harder myself….I feel slightly let down!
Will I vote conservative ! I’d rather roast in hell!

Don't panic. Don't believe everything in the media. Don't you want a reduction in tax? Don't you want help with your power bills? US interest rates higher than ours. Japan having to rescue their banks. Our debt to GDP second lowest in the G7. We are not in recession a lot of Eurozone is. Give it 6-12 months then make up your mind.

Well said Hilly1 - the figures came out today for the last quarter and there was a small amount of growth so no recession here yet and people seem blinkered when it comes to acknowledging this crisis is a worldwide one. So much for the forecasts - they are almost always wrong. I think we should give Truss a chance - she has been PM for less than a month and there is two years until the likely next election. I will be interested to follow the party conference next week when I am sure more information about the government's plans for the next two years will surface.

Where I live is thoroughly red - the saying is people would vote for a dog turd if they stuck a red rosette on it. The only person who has a chance against our incumbent Labour MP is the Green candidate so I will be voting for her. I am a Conservative but its a completely wasted vote in my area of the city so I will vote tactically in the hope of getting Labour out of the seat. I always vote Green in council elections as we happen to have two excellent Green councillors in our area who really try and help constituents as much as they can.

Never have, never will. Would rather my goldfish were PM and Chancellor, at least they have to swim around in their own mess (until I clean them out, which, animal lovers, I do partially weekly and then hugely monthly ha!). If I had Truss and Kwarteng in a tank I'd leave it unchanged for decades.
