It is said to be June3rd next year in Westminster Abbey. This is from Bloomsberg.

As there will be a bank holiday for the coronation it is highly unlikely to be 3 June which is a Saturday. The late Queen’s on 2 June 1953 was a Tuesday… Friday 26 May would be good as it would give a long weekend with the late May bank holiday. Hopefully we won’t be kept waiting too long so people can make/alter plans.

If the royal family don’t want us to know how does he know

Callistemon21 Sat 08-Oct-22 10:40:30

Well, I thought Grany had written it ?

FannyCornforth Sat 08-Oct-22 10:32:08

Oh, nada, you’ll love it!
I was a bit put off by the blurb, as it really focusses on the financial side of thing which although fascinating for some, it’s not really my thing; shocking though it is.
But it’s also full of historical information, political background and family stuff.
It’s just such a good book on so many counts.

My local library have taken my book And What Do You Do its on the history section.

What the royal family don't want you to know.

It’s an absolutely brilliant book.
I’ve got it on Audible and listened to it several times.
It’s so well researched, and really entertaining and interesting.
It’s incredibly fair minded too.
It’s actually in my top ten of non fiction.
The author, Norman Baker, is a member of the Privy Council.
I can’t recommend it enough

Thanks for reminder. Bought it ages ago, forgot about it. ?

Yes, Calendargirl, I agree, Zadok the Priest is definitely up there with Music for the Royal Fireworks too. Handel was a genius.
Personally I think it can only be sung in the Abbey due to the amazing acoustics, so a smaller venue wouldn't suit.

I love Zadok the Priest- sends shivers down my spine.

I bet Charles will give much consideration to the music played at the Coronation, think he will want to include chosen pieces from all areas of the UK.

I also think Camilla will push for a much lower key version than in the past, don’t think she welcomes too much fuss.

@Blossoming,
Aye, she does, just as long as you're agreeing with her!

If she didn’t believe in free speech she’d have reported that intolerant and silly comment. Doesn’t mean she can’t point out what a nasty post it was.

FannyCornforth Sat 08-Oct-22 05:02:47

I can’t hear Zadok the Priest without inwardly yelling

? The CHAMP - IONS! ? ⚽️

Blossoming Fri 07-Oct-22 23:22:37

I imagine it will be ‘Zadok the Priest’ Callistemon with all the ‘Gawd Help The King’ lyrics.

It’s also in the Collins dictionary, too.

June 2nd 2023 happens to be a Friday (and my birthday) so would be a good day for it smile and I heard rumours they would do the same as this year and move the Bank Holiday from the Monday to the Friday

I wonder why she doesn’t start a thread in support of a republic
Just wondering of anyone here has heard the phrase "preaching to the converted?".

Where’s the fun in that?

Why does it need to be a secret that has to be “leaked”? Treating us like infants with the slow drip feed of information. Maybe we can arrange to be out of the country. Just tell us the date fgs.

I'm all for booking a holiday-maybe that's what they are afraid of.
When his brother got married on cup final day my nephew wore an ear piece and listened to the match on the radio right through the service. That was years ago. I'm sure William could find a really discreet one to wear for his dad's coronation.
