Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start here in brackley this morning , today a pop into Bicester ,and then do some Fish & Chips in the air fryer .
I also have to ring a Oxford number to get my surgery appointment time for the Churchill a week Monday .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning all,

Bright, dry and blustery here at the moment. Showers are forecast, but I hope they hold off for a bit as I’ve got the hairdresser to go to shortly.

Other than that, not sure what’s on the agenda, but it might include going out for a spot of lunch.

Take care everyone and those of you feeling unwell or with troubles, I hope that today brings some relief. ?

hollysteers Fri 07-Oct-22 10:25:06

Good morning Mick and all from a dull northwest coast.
I have come to the library to do a little study on new songs (not to keep warm!) before run through this afternoon. Easier to concentrate here. Sandwiches made too.
Feeling a tad tired after broken night and not sure what plans bro make for the weekend. Covid jab tomorrow.
Thoughts to those with troubles and will read through later.

Torrential rain here too now! ? ☔️

Kalu Fri 07-Oct-22 10:02:06

Good morning all from Glasgow. Yesterday’s weather was torrential rain and high winds and it looks like we are in for a repeat today again. I do miss popping out and pottering in the garden but I will keep busy indoors making a start on the list of winter projects.

GD2 has gone down with a moderate case of tonsillitis. She is already booked in to have her adenoids removed. I don’t know if a full T&A will be decided but I doubt it as she isn’t prone to tonsillitis.
Boosters for DH and me plus a neighbouring couple, four of us at the exact same time this afternoon, quite the social event?
You did it kitty! One more hurdle ticked ✔️
Pleased to hear yesterday went well for you baubles
Enjoy your concert tonight Grandmabatty, you lucky besom.
I don’t envy you having to drive in the dark in such horrible conditions last night Marydoll. I could do it if I had to but given the choice, I feel more comfortable driving in daylight.
Thought are with you and your DD Baggs x

Wishing a good day to all and hopefully a light at the end of the tunnel can be seen for those struggling through.

GrannySomerset Fri 07-Oct-22 09:48:49

Work on the drive continues but at least I can get out of the house easily now. Off to shop for lunch for visitors tomorrow but nothing else planned. Had lovely video chat with GD1 at university including “tour” of her room. Good to see her so positive and enthused.

Thinking of the Baggs family and hope the news continues go be good.

Gwenisgreat1 Fri 07-Oct-22 09:48:19

Good morning all from cloudy but breezy Harrogate
Supposed to be wet, so planning to stay in today
Glad you are managing better Kittylester little steps!
Do take careMarydoll and look after yourself.
Today I think I’ll be baking this morning and caring up on TV this afternoon. Had DGS yesterday who has decided she doesn’t like school especially reading and writing, but maths she likes! I wouldn’t let her put the TV on until after we did and activity- so we did some colouring. Then I let her watch TV.
Had my zoom call, my sister thought she was moving next week, but her buyer has suddenly decided the ceilings have asbestos in them and he wants a reduction in the price!! Two ceilings have anaglypta on them which contains a minute amount of asbestos.
It’s a bit mean waiting to the exchange of contracts to bring this up!!
Have the best day possible folks

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Off for a supermarket shop and then GS care this afternoon.
All the best to everyone struggling along.

aggie Fri 07-Oct-22 09:36:11

Good morning everyone from a sunny autumnal Co Armagh
Hair cut this afternoon, but just got an email that my parcel will be delivered today , I asked for tomorrow ! Oh well , I hope it’s before or after my outing !
Here’s hoping for a good day for us all xxx

Blossoming Fri 07-Oct-22 09:25:00

Good morning Mick and everyone. A grey and gloomy morning in this corner of Lancashire.

Nothing special planned for today. Any lingering pain in my arm from the double jabs has cleared The usual routine of housework, physio exercises, Gaelic studies and reading. I can hear the robot vacuum cleaner running around the hallway, it’s on a timer. If only it could do stairs!

Fish and chips in the air fryer here too, a homemade ‘chippy tea’ sounds perfect for Friday.

Thinking of all with trials and tribulations today, especially Baggs. I hope the day is good to us all flowers

harrigran Fri 07-Oct-22 09:08:54

Good morning from the NE where it is monsoon season.
No plans for today except to get ahead with housework and cooking in preparation for the family visit tomorrow.
DD is still suffering with covid, she says the effort of just getting downstairs to make a cup of tea is making her heart pound and her head throb. She is having a new roof fitted and being a mid-terrace house the workmen have to carry everything through the house. There are no back lanes or access.
Thoughts are with Baggs.

Good morning all. It's a beautiful morning in the Angus coast and the washing is on. I'm off to meet up with my niece for a good old catch-up and then an appointment with the hairdresser - both good for the soul!
Yesterday's tai chi was so enjoyable - as always - and it was lovely having the coffee break again. Here's hoping COVID doesn't raise its head too viciously again and this time we can move forward steadily.
This weekend is Dancing GD's first intensive workshop with Youth Dance Scotland. What a week she's having! And in the way of the young she is fitting in a concert this evening. And no, she is not using the car!! As I have said before, I live my life vicariously through the DGDs - and I'm exhausted already!!
I'm sorry I haven't mentioned anyone individually but send congratulations and hugs as appropriate. Have a good day all x

EkwaNimitee Fri 07-Oct-22 08:50:33

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where I woke to heavy rain. It has now eased off but is still very cloudy.
Yesterday was beautifully sunny so I spent some time in the garden, mowing the lawn out front and planting bulbs plus putting in a blackberry bush out back in my soft fruit border.
I was going to nip into town this morning but the weather has put me off so I think some retail therapy online is due. I'm also agonising over what to do with my hair! I'm getting to dislike it being past my collar so I shall probably end up getting it cut, next week maybe.
Well, I'm off to do various little jobs including putting away the rest of my summer clothes and my sandals so I'll wish you all the best possible day.

Georgesgran Fri 07-Oct-22 08:47:46

Did I say it was raining?? It’s turned into a monsoon - I hope other North East GNs have battened down the hatches!

Gingster Fri 07-Oct-22 08:34:37

Good morning all .
Very achey and tired yesterday and today. If I’d had my Covid/flu jabs I would think it was that, but mine aren’t due until next week ?.

Shopping this morning and Friday friends meet up for lunch in our usual country pub.

Sar hope you have a trouble free journey ?.
GG pickles, chutney and hams! Lovely Christmas smells! ?

Wishing you all a good day! ?

Grandmabatty Fri 07-Oct-22 08:22:56

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11°. Still cloudy, still damp. Baubles it's good that your day at work went well. Kittylester small victories. I feel your frustration! Grandmattie I'm glad you got sorted out with the nativity pattern.
Yesterday I had a friend visiting for coffee in the morning. I had made pear and ginger muffins and they were very moreish. Later on dd asked if I would look after dgs2 to let her go shopping. The wee mite has a horrible cold and wasn't himself. I think there will be a doctor's appointment today as he has a sore cough and is wheezy.
Tonight I'm going to the Armadillo in Glasgow to see James Taylor. I'm looking forward to it as the concert has been postponed for a couple of years. I'm going with my friend and her partner as I can't do motorway driving at night because of my cataract. It'll be a quiet day until then. Have a good day all.

Wyllow3 Fri 07-Oct-22 08:18:09

Good Morning from S Yorks.

Gosh all you busy grans!
I have my Covid booster and then a visit to a clinic to see if I can have an unsightly face mole thingy (benign, but not pretty) removed. May go for a swim first.

Bests for all with a tough day, and may families, friends, and coffee and cakes be enjoyed, cars found, ironing done, and crafts happily crafted.

Georgesgran Fri 07-Oct-22 08:16:16

Good morning from Durham. A windy start to the day, but it is now very still and pouring with rain. I’m taking a friend to an appointment at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle - it will be strange for me, as she is going to the same department DH attended - at least I know the parking situation there. The gardener is due this morning, but not the best weather to be working outside.
Once home this afternoon, there’s plenty of jobs in the house to see to.
Have a good day. X

Marydoll Fri 07-Oct-22 08:15:04

Good morning all from wet Glasgow, where its currently 11°C.
Dad has cancelled the golf, so the weather must be bad!

Last night, I drove in the most horrendous rain, it was extremely scary, especially as the road works were already causing chaos and it was pitch black. I have never been so relieved to get home!
I usually avoid driving in the dark, but my meeting went on longer than expected, the attendees had no conception of the importance Safeguarding or health and safety, when working with children.
I went into scary teacher mode, when I met the brick wall. ?
All amicably resolved now, it was indeedhard work.

A small shop in Sainsbury's , pushing heavy trollies is a no, no now! (note to self to avoid the clothes section) and then my sixth Covid and 'flu vax in the next village, where DD lives.
The timing is not great, as we have Dollie all weekend. It's DS1's birthday today and DS and DIL are going on an all day date tomorrow.
I have had severe side effects after previous vaccinations and after listening to some of your experiences, I'm not holding out much hope for an easy ride! ?

I planned to pop in and give my approval of the windows, ?, but SIL , who usually works from home, is going in to work.
DD had messaged me, feeling really upset. They got the new windows fitted yesterday, but when the fitters took out the bathroom window, they discovered there was no lintel.? A bricklayer is needed urgently.

I'm so saddened to hear the news from Baggs, one of our Glesca Grannies. Tough times ahead, as many on here will know from experience.

GM, I hope all goes well with your family this weekend and thank you for your good wishes. I am struggling a bit, I keep yawning (so embarrassing in company) and falling asleep, due to my heart failure. A change in pace ? is required, but I don't take a telling!

I hope the weary travellers are safely home and for those with appointments today, I hope all goes well.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 07-Oct-22 08:14:24

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I didn’t wake until gone 8 am! I have a quiet day today. Maybe a bit of baking. Next week promises to be very busy so it’s good I can have a quietish day today.

NanKate Fri 07-Oct-22 08:08:06

Morning Mick and All.

Sun and cloud here in South Bucks.

DH having his flu jab, I had mine last Sat with my COVID, then coffee and croissant at our lovely Italian.

I bet you staircase felt like Mount Everest Kitty. Get better soon ?

Jaxjacky Fri 07-Oct-22 08:03:45

Morning all from high cloud in S Hants. Pleased your first day went well baubles.
Indoor bowls last night, I’m not enjoying it as much as the outside, MrJ loves it.
I’ve a slow cooker with cooled green tomato chutney to pot today, a bathroom to clean and a wash to put on.
Enjoy your day best you can ??

Greyduster Fri 07-Oct-22 07:59:35

Good morning Michael and all GNs. Caught the tail end of the sunrise this morning and it is dry at the moment in South Yorkshire. I’m hoping it stays that way. The forecast was for rain, but my SiL has arranged for me to test drive a car this afternoon. I had my flu jab yesterday at the surgery and was offered the covid booster at the same time so then had to cancel the CB I had booked for Saturday morning at another centre. It was like pulling teeth but hopefully someone else will get that slot now. Dust removal this morning.
Have the best day you can folks.

Gala Fri 07-Oct-22 07:58:12

Good morning from Sefton. Dry, dismal & blowy here although the forecast says rain all day.

Went to see Mrs Harris went to Paris (but filmed in Budapest I believe) an enjoyable feel good film. I like quirky British films with "proper" actors, not stars/celebs. And those frocks were gorgeous. By the time we came out my Covid jab after effects had subsided.... a bonus.

Dance exercise class & Pilates this morning. Then off to see a local musical show - songs from the shows I think - with a friend this evening. Pre theatre meal first.

Take care all.

Pittcity Fri 07-Oct-22 07:55:25

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Another mild day here with no rain forecast until late afternoon.
Got most of the holiday washing done yesterday and it was lovely drying weather. So I've got ironing to tackle this morning.
We're on school pickup duty for DGS2 this afternoon and are watching his assembly first.
Love to all ? x

ShazzaKanazza Fri 07-Oct-22 07:48:49

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. Missing Menorca already.
It’s a breezy morning.
I’m not going to rush to unpack today and wash I can’t see us needing summer clothes now.
It took us longer to drive from Manchester airport to Hull than to fly from Menorca to Manchester. Traffic!!
We’ve had a walk around the garden and it looks colourful from the rain. The runner beans are huge so they will need to go to compost and there are loads of red tomatoes starting to split so they will be roasted and blended.

Today I’m going to do a zoom yoga class. I really need to stretch. I also need to detox for a few days and lose a few pounds. Not easy. Later I’ll pick up Grandson from school. He will give big smiles and jump up and down when he sees me but of course then run past me avoiding a cuddle lol. Missed him and the girls.

Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today. Thinking of you all??
