Congratulations on the new grandchild *Mary; very exciting! Our premie is doing extremely well. He now weighs three and a half pounds and is piling on ounces daily. The blessings of mother’s milk!
My appointment this morning saw me in the hospital half an hour early, seen and out by the time my appointment was actually scheduled. I wandered back in the early morning sun, towards where I had arranged for SiL to pick me up, via the botanical gardens. The trees and plants looked lovely.

Congratulations Marydoll wonderful news, and understand why Dollie is extra precious!

Good morning from a now brighter West Sussex (it was raining heavily when I went to bed and still raining when I woke up).

Mick I hope you can get some helpful advice from the liaison nurse and that you are feeling a bit better today.

Marydoll, how lovely to hear that you are to be ‘granny’ to a second dgc. Congratulations also on your triumph with the parish website - I wish I had you here to help me with my techie challenges. It doesn’t help having to use a Mac when I was used to a PC at work ?

Ash, I hope the funeral goes well - maybe being at your old church will help to heal the past hurts. I think CofE clergy are put in an impossible position when the authorities issue very black and white rulings on moral issues that are rarely straightforward. Some seem to work round the official line with more humanity than others. I notice Ladylfl is also going to a funeral today, in a church that she left. I hope that is also a positive experience, even though it is a funeral.

I seem to have lost the art of précis so will just say I have read and enjoyed reading all your news.

I have a tai chi session at lunchtime and plans to assemble my Aldi cold frame for winter salad showings and some cuttings to go in. I am very challenged by numbered pictorial instructions so wish me luck!

Good Morning from a sunny at the moment Algarve.
Just popped in to send congratulations and best wishes to you and your family Marydoll. What lovely news!
Also safe journey to Urms, I like your cartoon. Welcome back to the sunshine this afternoon. Although we have a chilly wind I expect it is warmer round the corner in Spain. DH is outside brushing fallen olives off the steps.

Good Morning all from bright and dry Harrogate
How wonderful, Marydoll, you will be thrilled and something for you to look forward to.
Safe journey Urms I'll envy your glorious weather!
Does that vicar gets points for losing members of the congregation, Ashcombe is the church still open?
I had plans to watch my church service online yesterday, but because it was a Brownies, Guides Scouts etc service it wasn't allowed to be online. Anyway I feel better today (thank goodness) I've had my shower, had a TV fixed and got a wash on. Shortly I'll have a chat with my friend that I met up with in Edinburgh. This afternoon my repairer is bringing a pump for the Tumble Dryer, he'll also fit in the washing machine when I find one. Hoping to go to John Lewis in Leeds to see what they have in stock later this week.
Have the best day possible folks!

Good morning from Essex by the sea where the sun is trying to break through the clouds.

A busy day yesterday. The boys had a rugby tournament, then round to DH's eldest daughter for Birthday cake for his birthday last Friday then a visit to the pub to watch his team win.

Housework this morning and probably start a new cross stitch this afternoon.

Huge congratulations to Marydoll, her son and daughter in law, what lovely news.

Have a marvellous Monday whatever you may find yourself doing xx

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
10°c and very windy. I waited in yesterday for viewers to my wee flat but only one turned up. Today there are 3 more booked.
There's an acute housing shortage especially for students in Edinburgh so it's mostly post graduates who are looking.
The one yesterday came with husband and baby.

What wonderful news for you all Marydoll
And you will to be able to talk about it and start knitting or looking at baby clothes.
Dollie will be thrilled.
My DGD had a new baby cousin a few weeks ago and the 5yr old was teaching baby nursery rhymes.
I hope you get good advice Mick from the doctor. Take it easy.

Safe journey to your other home Urms
That priest sounds awful Ash I hope he's not conducting the service.

Best wishes to you all for a happy week.

Good morning all from a blustery Co Armagh, it was blowing a hooley all night ,
We usually go shopping on a Monday, but not today , bit too blowy for gardening , I’ll get on with the crochet , I’m doing a big granny square to use up some of my stash . Coincidently it matches the curtain colours here in the living room
Delighted with your news Marydoll , you did well to keep that secret !

Kalu Mon 17-Oct-22 09:14:16

Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow but sunny.

A few bits and pieces to do today including a quick trip to Waitrose as DD1 and the girls are coming for dinner and staying over. DD1 is having new windows installed today and as GDs are off for October week, getting up and organised for 8am is not part of their plan!?. DH is looking forward to having his girls around again.

Such lovely news Marydoll. I am delighted for you and well done on keeping the secret. Phew. Enjoy you girls night out. Bon appétit.
Resting is so boring isn’t it kitty? What about a fun day practicing going up and down the stairs, that would be thrilling. ??‍♀️

Have a pleasant day all.

Good morning Mick and everyone. A cold bright morning in this corner of Lancashire.

I was saddened to learn of the death of a friend yesterday. He was a fellow brain injury survivor and we met at a conference some years ago. A warm and wonderful man, he made it his mission to educate people about living with brain injury. He had a podcast in addition to his speaking engagement. He will be missed by his wife and daughters and many friends.

Thinking of Baggs and all with troubles.

Happy Monday, have the best day you can all ?

Good morning everyone from Kent where it is grey and damp.

DH golfing this morning so will come back later to tell me of his exploits on the golf course - good and bad! I am off to my art group this morning. We all enjoy it and the chat which accompanies our artist creations.

Wonderful news Marydoll; lovely to hear about such good news. Safe travels Urms, liked the photo.

Hope everyone who can has a good day.

Taichinan Mon 17-Oct-22 09:03:35

Good morning Mick and all who follow and hearty congratulations to Marydoll - what amazing news!
It's a lovely autumn morning again on the Angus coast - where I have just watched some beautiful roe deer crossing the field. One was just about 50 yards away and stopped to stare at me before leaping agilely away across the stubble. Needless to say my sleep addled brain didn't work fast enough for me to take a photo! (I have a picture in my memory though).
We had a glorious day at St Andrews yesterday - but my goodness! That wind!! It was just on the cusp of being too windy for the sand yachting, which would have been very disappointing for the Teens. I found the wind exhausting though and after three hours in it I was more than glad to get back to the cars!! A stop off for fish 'n chips rounded off a glorious day, and I'm glad to say Dancing GD's driving was excellent, much better than her control of the sand yacht ?
This morning I still feel the effects of the wind buffeting, so a quiet day with only a short trip down into the town in prospect and I shall enjoy a guilt-free couple of hours watching Countdown and Escape to the country this afternoon.
I hope everyone's day has its moment of gladness, and bon voyage to Urms who is guaranteed a few weeks of ?

EkwaNimitee Mon 17-Oct-22 08:55:11

And congratulations to you and your family Marydoll, another wee one on the way!

EkwaNimitee Mon 17-Oct-22 08:52:59

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright sunny Carlisle. I hope it stays that way.
I'm another who advises consultation before tweaking your meds, Mick, however tempting it may be to do so. Hopefully you feel better today.

Today is the usual Monday of laundry and housework, I like to get the bulk of it out of the way at the beginning of the week though it's not set in tablets of stone. If something better comes up.....
I overdid it the garden yesterday, too much digging about in the corner of my garden where I have really heavy impermeable clay. With all the heavy rain lately, the water table is practically at ground level. It is difficult to pace yourself...as discussed on another thread. I'll give it a rest for a day or three.

Wishing you all the best possible day.

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 17-Oct-22 08:50:09

Good morning Mick and everyone from a dull ( but trying to be sunny) Oxfordshire. mick as others have advised give the JR a call, the medication might be essential to your upcoming op. I hope you have a better day today.
Marydoll excellent news Congratulations to you all.
Urms safe travels, I envy you, MrOops was so well when we were in Majorca, now all his aches and pains are back again. I can see more weeks spent in the sun.
Cleaning day today.
Have a good day everyone, good wishes for those who are having a tough time.

GrannySomerset Mon 17-Oct-22 08:41:43

Great to start the week with Marydoll’s good news, a reminder that life goes on despite political turmoil and a world which seems set on self destruction. Lovely morning and I have a U3A talk this morning and Flower Club this evening so a busy day with lots of social contact. Hope everyone has a good one.

grandMattie Mon 17-Oct-22 08:37:25

What wonderful news, Marydoll.
Ash, I’m not her one who can’t understand the rational of the ‘old’ vicar. Well done for telling him what you thought!
Bon voyage, Urms.❤️

brook2704 Mon 17-Oct-22 08:35:16

Morning from a blowy S Lanarkshire. Have just scanned posts so far and caught your good news Marydoll, lovely news, I’ll read properly later when I get home from Book club which I was asked to lead at the last minute and as a result had to spend most of yesterday reading the book! Sod’s law since I normally read it in plenty time.

I was so glad to see yesterday Ashcombe that your friend and neighbour has found a new home nearby, I had been wondering if things had worked out for her.

Hope you get help and advice Mick, you are having a time of it just now.

Safe journey Urmstongran and good wishes to all???

baubles Mon 17-Oct-22 08:30:56

Good morning all from damp South Lanarkshire.

Vet visit for daft dug this morning, that’s all the excitement for today.

How lovely Marydoll, congratulations to your DS & DiL.

Safe travels Urms, enjoy the sunshine.

Have the best day possible everyone.

dragonfly46 Mon 17-Oct-22 08:28:43

Good morning from damp Leicestershire.

Having a survey for sonar panels today as we face south at the back and have a large roof but I am not convinced.

I am shocked at your previous Vicar’s attitude Ashcombe but not surprised. It is one of the reasons I have steered clear of organised religion.

Looks like the sun is coming out - have the best day everyone.
