Yes, Galaxy, but going out 5/6 nights a week - and then moaning that you can’t save any money…

I am glad my children get the opportunity to go out. I dont want them to be sitting watching inspector Morse unless they want to.

An evening with Inspector Morse sounds far more appealing than a night out in London Witzend.

I very rarely buy a meal deal, occasional weekend if hubby and I are out visiting anywhere. I’m old school too, always pack up work lunches, etc

Maybe it’s time to stop wasting money on meal deals and go back to the old fashioned way of making your own lunchboxes for work / school . Would save a fortune.

Ditto. And I don’t know why they so often include crisps.

Many years ago now I was obliged to point out to a dd, a new graduate earning reasonable money, that it was no wonder she couldn’t save anything for a planned major trip, if she was spending £25 a week on lunches, instead of making something at home.

(Not to mention going out nearly every night in expensive central London - cue a wail of, ‘What am I suppose to do - stay in every night with you, watching Inspector Morse? ?)

Pleased to say she did very soon get real.

All food is increasing in price, and I think the demand for some foods will outstrip supply.

I watched a programme on the Lea Valley glass house growers last night. Several businesses have shut down because it's not financially viable to continue with the energy price increases. The programme was focused on a cucumber growing business. Apparently it costs 25p to produce a cucumber, the market price was/is 59p. The family business owner didn't know if he could continue and was extremely upset about it.

I'm annoyed that my favourite biscuits have gone from 75p to £1.30 in sainsburys.

Cheese and cracker biscuits for my lunch today. I don't do deal meals things as it's cheaper to do your own.
I agree there's far more important things going on.

Maybe it is a distraction from what is going on in the political sphere? Keep the peasants quiet and all that.

The price of butter has been a regular item on the news.

The thought occurred to me that £3.40 ten years ago was expensive.

It was hardly a no news day, so I was a bit bemused too. As the OP says other prices have increased and not hit the news. I can’t remember any fuss when M&S dropped the bottle of wine from their Dine In offer.

The is no blocks of butter here for under £2.00 some are even reaching nearly £3.00.

Maybe just have a simpler lunch! I rarely have a cooked meal at lunchtime. Usually just a sandwich or something like yogert and fruit.
