Come the next General Election, who would you most rejoice to see losing their seat?

(Apart from Boris, that is, assuming you’re not a fan.)

Mine would be Jacob Rees-Mogg, no question.

BJ of course, Rees Mogg and my Tory MP who voted fir BJ but kept quiet when I asked him ( in an email).

It’ll be interesting who does make it into the new cabinet. I wonder if Coffey will remain as Health Minister??

paddyann54 Tue 25-Oct-22 13:38:21

Jumped before the were pushed? Of course he'll have filled his coffers with Kwartengs bonus ...so he'll be fine .

Crossed posts Farzanah!

Rees-Mogg has resigned?

... perhaps he had a peek at GRANSNET? grin

Curlywhirly Tue 25-Oct-22 13:26:38

One BBC political correspondent has just said that Rees Mogg has resigned, presumably before he was pushed.

Prentice Tue 25-Oct-22 13:26:09

I have read that Rees-Mogg’s constituents really like him, so perhaps he is a diligent MP.
I am pleased to hear that he has lost his job in government though.

Farzanah Tue 25-Oct-22 13:25:07

He’s only resigned as a minister before he was removed in reshuffle.

Farzanah Tue 25-Oct-22 13:22:35

My MP Daniel Kaczynski. Then JRM. Then Boris Johnson.

I’m merely reporting what is online.

And I'm merely clarifying the situation and asking a question.

Spiky, spiky....

Forsythia Tue 25-Oct-22 13:15:41

They are now saying resigned from government along with Brandon Lewis whoever he is.

annodomini Tue 25-Oct-22 13:15:26

No less august person than Sir Max Hastings, one-time editor of the Telegraph, said that 'Rees-Mogg belongs in a museum'. I suggest The London Dungeon.

He's only resigned from the government. Not as an MP, surely?

Forsythia Tue 25-Oct-22 13:06:43

And on BBC

Forsythia Tue 25-Oct-22 13:05:54

Yes according to The Sun!

Prentice Tue 25-Oct-22 13:05:02

Rees-Mogg has resigned?

travelsafar Tue 25-Oct-22 13:04:34

Rees-Mogg belongs to another era, wish he would be teleported back there!!!!

Forsythia Tue 25-Oct-22 13:04:18

He has resigned.

Rees-Mogg.
My hackles rise when I see him.

My MP. He's an idiot. He writes a column in the local newspaper. On the day that KK left office, and the proposed changes in the top level of taxation were being hastily revoked, his article told us all why the proposal was a much needed move (!).
His next publication featured his respect and admiration for Liz Truss, and why she was a safe pair of hands. By the time it was published, she'd already resigned...

Why can't posters just nominate who they wish to without starting to attack other posters.

An interesting thread but going off the rails, as usual.

Perhaps because people give reasons for their 'nominations' - some of which are bound to be contentious thereby inviting comment?

Attacking the opinion is not attacking the poster personally. Sometimes, I don't really take much notice of who is posting - just the comment... playing the ball not the man.

Any thread on Politics is inevitably going to involve a political debate, surely? Some feel passionately about the subject because it has an effect on all our lives.

I suppose a long list of nominees might give a microscopic picture of the most unpopular politicians as far as GN is concerned; though the result itself would also provoke discussion!

She failed to complete her education, made no attempt to rectify this in later life, has no qualifications yet apparently thought she was competent to become the Shadow Secretary of State for Education.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.
What Angela does know about is being forced out of education at 16 for being pregnant, going back to college with baby in tow, whilst also working to keep a roof over her head. She fought the authorities who decreed that single mothers shouldn't have the benefit of further education to improve their lives and tried to withdraw funding. She supported the education of other women, many of whom were battered wives, in order to escape their abusive husbands. She has had a real life with real problems to deal with but let's judge her on her northern accent instead.angry

Truss - whose education taught her absolutely nothing.
