I think that I'm officially dowdy!

I bought a beautiful wrap dress with short sleeves from Boden to suit my figure to wear at a summer wedding. I felt so good in the dress. When I saw the photographs, there was a plump, white haired lady with a large bosom whose hair had drooped with the damp weather. Such a disappointment and it looked as though I hadn’t made an effort! ?

Yes i like jumper dresses & tights & boots in winter too.

All our family have the 'young looking' gene,as did my mum & grandma.So long as my hair is coloured i can knock at least 10 yrs or more off my age no matter what i wear.? which is NOT little old lady clothes really anyway- mostly jeans/jeggings topped with trendy jumpers or tops.

I adopted that look and love it! Lots of new dresses that are now being carried forward to winter accompanied by a slip (I knoooww!!), tights, boots and a cardigan! ?

I love my dresses with trainers or boots, it's such a comfy style and no hassle. I also like dressy joggers, a bit like trousers, but elastic waist that I tuck a jumper in. I'm dowdy walking the dog, but if I'm going out I like to dress up a bit.

I had a neighbour who was always seen with her shopping trolley never a shopping bag. Unfortunately, its contents clinked going up and down driveways giving the game away. Yes, she had a problem. I use a washing basket we get deliveries.
I did try the white trainer look but as I have such skinny ankles I looked like Florence of the Magic Roundabout, so I bought them in orange and navy blue and wore them all summer with loose cool dresses. The tubby tummy didn't show.

I live in dungarees! They suit my body shape and I get lots of compliments. I have them is a range of colours. I am 75!
Wear what is suitable for your lifestyle, body type and things that make you feel good and are comfortable!

I am sure you will all agree that everyone has at least one garment from way back that is so comfy and easy to wear, be it a cardigan, dress, leggings etc and we simply can't let it go, I know I have.
Some days, after getting dressed and having breakfast I will say to Mr PG 'whatever do I look like' and he will respond 'what are you worrying about, we aren't going out, stop whittling' and then we both laugh.
Yes, some days I do look like a bag lady but my clothes are clean and I do take more care if we are venturing out - don't see the point in throwing clothes away just because some airy fairy designer brings out a new range.

I love flowing dresses and white trainers so comfortable and a good look for the older lady. I also love all the bright colours the brighter the better. We only live once live it the best you can x

I always tell my children that the older I get the more crazily I will dress? I just think it’s time to wear what you love, why makes you feel good and never mind what fashion or anyone else dictates ! Occasionally I find myself wearing something I feel frumpy in and it will quickly be sent to the charity shop. Trying to have less outfits, not save things for best - what is best and how often does it happen? Happy days.

I love that look as well. My youngest daughter looks fabulous, ( even if I say so myself)!

She also wears the tea dresses with Doc Martins as well. We've got her the most amazing floral pair for Christmas.

Oh to be young again. Mind you I do borrow her Doc Martins occasionally

I have a trolley and it's great. I bought it when I lived in Sweden where lots of women (and some men) have them. They are really popular esp with people without cars living in city flats. I also live in long H&M fairly floaty dresses and white trainers. So much more comfortable than tight jeans. So maybe we are just continental.
Besides we will all be in cardigans and several jumpers this winter!

I think that once you get to a certain age -you can't win either you are dowdy /dress like Miss Marple or you look ridiculous -mutton dressed as lamb according to friends and relatives .

Here's my reaction -my body , my choice and my money - so I don't give a damn anymore !

One of my friends made fun of my shopping trolley .
So I ditched using it for a day .
I was in agony from lugging my heavy shopping and ended up looking like Quasimodo for a week !
So that the last time that I'm listening to her !

I am with you Esmay! I too have stopped killing myself and use a trolley despite what anybody says or thinks and I will damned well wear what I like

Apart from sandals instead of trainers, I spent the whole of the past hot summer in long flowing dresses-very cool and easy to wear. And I'm 68.

This reminds me of my Dad looking at my dd's wedding photos. He was trying to place the 'old man' on the photos, then realised it was himself! Poor Dad, he was 74yrs old. Funny, we never thought of him as an old man.
