I am over £600, can have about £73 back asked for about £200/300 not answered, also I am sure my DD was altered up, just told me, automatically done, apologies if I am wrong

Poppyred Some suppliers will not let you do that.

I currently pay by quarterly DD. My supplier has just written to me to tell me in peremptory tones that it is not doing quarterly DDs anymore and is transferring me to a monthly payment, which it has set at £650!. At the same time it tells me that my bills this winter will be equivalent to an annual bill of £2,700 (we have a big and very old house), which by my calculation is about £225 a month.

This is the supplier who took £900 out of my account in June for the second quarters bill, and a few weeks later paid me back over £500 because it had made a mistake!

I am trying to transfer to another supplier but, under current conditions this is very difficult.

I’ve had a smart meter connected- which tells you exactly what you owe. Cancel your direct debit and pay what you owe at the end of each month.

Credit in your account….

Suppliers like you to have Credit of around 6 months D.Ds you can tell them not to raise yours, but do send in regular meter readings, they might be estimating your bills.

You don’t have to increase your payments if you don’t want to.

When did you last send in a meter reading?
You do not have to agree to these increases in your DD.
Are you receiving all the benefits and support you are entitled to?

You should be getting quite a lot of government help this Winter why not wait and see how it goes till Spring.

My supplier sends me an email every month telling me i have to increase my D/D. it started at 80.00 then was 100.00, then 104.00 thene ist rose to 110.00 and this morning it is now 117.00!!! I cant work out how they decide on these increases. I havent used my central heating as yet. Only have the boiler on every other day for hot water. Live mostly on salds or sandwiches. Use the microwave to heat up beans, poach eggs or reheat a ready meal. I do use the toaster and have used my slow cooker once since prices rose in October. I am dreading the really cold weather coming as i fear what the icrease will be. All this has made me decide to give up home and move to sheltered accomodation and a small one bed flat. Currently bidding on the local housing registar for something. Sad to give up my house but its big and has 3 rooms and can be very cold in the bad weather. sad
