I am disgusted that they plan to show such recent disturbing and controversial events. I think we were all shocked and horrified by the car crash, and felt great sadness for the family especially the two boys. Why would any of us want to relive that again in Netflix's ridiculous fantasy world? There are plenty of documentaries and other sources of information if anyone wants to know more.

It's rubbernecking on the past in my opinion, like stopping to look at a car crash on the motorway. It's not the decent thing to do.

Netflix should not be so crass as to revisit this awful period, especially in light of the Queen's recent passing and the forthcoming Coronation. They should have stopped at Charles and Diana's wedding and left it there. It's all about greed and money.

Did you also dislike the movie “the queen”?
What about “the young Victoria”?
Titanic? Hidden figures? The impossible? Erin Brockovich? Apollo 13?

Don’t think the phone call one should be in it.

Nobody has any qualms about rehashing Diana's misdemeanors, her mental health, or anything else, so it's only fair to show that all three in the marriage weren't perfect.

The phone call was a private call between the King and the woman who is now his wife. It was pillow talk. The kind of talk a lot of couples indulge in when making love. It is trulunfortunate they did it on the phone and that some lowlife found a way of recording a private and personal call between lovers. A lot of lovers talk is is excruciatingly embarrassing when taken out of context. Think of your own lives. Would you want your pillow talk recorded and then published in the papers?

Er, yes, there are people who think it's a true depiction of the RF and that the people are actually like that. That is why it's so wrong. I think the cut-off should be 50 years, and certainly no less than 40 years. It's so disrespectful to living people.

I think the Judi Dench comment is interesting because regardless of her friendship with Camilla, hasn't JD always strived to represent the truth in her acting? I think the point of most of her roles is that they are based on honesty and historical fact. I can understand why she sees The Crown as entering the realms of sensationalism, and the risks attached to that will be at odds with her meticulous craft and that of many other actors. I think actors of such standing do actually need to put their oar in.

I like The Crown its good if you dont take it too seriously and who dosnt know about the Tampon. I see Camilas mate Judy Dench is sticking her oar in. I think these actors should get over themselves who cares what she says but they are putting a disclaimer on it which really makes me laugh.

‘Boffing’ hehe, never heard that one before. I don’t think it is very respectful of the new King to play that ancient phone call. A pity he can’t sue for breaching privacy and illegally tapping a phone. I think Charles and Diana were as bad as each other at that time, neither of them showed much dignity. Times have moved on, however, and I am sure he will make a good monarch.

It is a programme aimed at the type of person who searches the internet to listen to recordings of that and other deeply personal and private conversations between people in the public eye.

I don't think it is.

I love the Crown and dont see it as any different to the variety of dramas/series that exist on numerous people still living.

Are they going to do the Squidgygate transcripts too?

I remember round about the time they were in the news reading a piece by Julie Burchill about the Tampon and Squidgy Gates. Now, I have never bought into the Diana cult: I think she brought the late Queen more grief than Meghan ever could. Nor do I have any love for Julie Burchill, who was and is Diana's number one fan girl. But in this piece she compared the transcripts and came to the conclusion that they suggested that Camilla was much more fun in the sack. Which I suspect is actually a shrewd assessment, especially from Charles's point of view.
