I find it hard to choose between the 60 s and 70s. The first because I was carefree, child free, immature and partying but the second because I had all my children in the 70 s and found the incredible love that comes with being a parent.

Another 60s fan. Loved the clothes, music, freedom from worries, parties, boyfriends, fun. Had great parents and we laughed a lot. I often think of those times with great happiness.

I loved much about the sixties music, but being a teenager wasn't all fun.

Definitely the best time for me was the 70s when my children were young. Money was short, we didn't have much, but I was so happy with my darling children. I even dream about those days.

The eighties for me. I was a music student from 1983 to 1986 and had a wonderful time, including making some lifelong friends. I met my future husband in 1987 and we got married in 1989. However, my three children were born in 1991, 1993 and 1996 so obviously the nineties were very special too.

Always the 60s! Wonderful music, wonderful clothes, and I was an art student. What more could you want? Then I went on to work for a record company and that was cool too. And I met DH in 1969.

80s... Career taking off felt useful studying too, daughter still at home. Living in Essex. None of that now. Ageing fast, pain everyday bored with life.

It is lovely to be retired, I agree. I think I am doing too many things, though and feel the need to cut back. Covid taught me that, I did lots of craft and just kind of relaxed more though I felt a bit isolated at times.

The decades since the beginning of the century, retired, an assured income from state and employer, DH had retired and immediately gone back to work as a self-employed Chartered Engineer, also with state and occupational pension, still working, only less so now he is nearly 80. We have been better off in retirement as a result, than we have ever been.

Children grown up and settled and doing well, then married with grand children.

None of the worries of younger years, worries about money, employment. Both of us suffered redundancy.DH severaal times. No longer paying a mortgage and with the expense of bringing up our children behind us.

70’s - Student life, meeting my beloved, young and healthy. Lots of lovely memories.

60s for me. Wonderful jobs, wonderful friends and a hectic but joyous social life. Carefree and bliss.

Stupid phone! I 'definitely' ( not forgot ) had the best times of my life in the 1980s.

Alioop Sat 05-Nov-22 17:52:18

Has to be the 80s. I left school and got my first job in 1983, I felt so grown up getting my little brown envelope with my wages in it. I had my first girls holiday that year to Palma Nova and I felt so grown up. Life was great, the clothes, the fab music and the big hairstyles, I forgot had the best times of my life in the 1980s.

Could have written this myself.

60s I think. I was at art school, which I loved . Met DH , got married and had DD. Loved the music, fashion and we had a little house we furnished mostly from Habitat.

The 70's...some tough times but generally very good.
I was at the 'conquer the world' stage!

Zoejory Sat 05-Nov-22 14:10:41

70s. I had the most amazing time.

Granny23 Sat 05-Nov-22 14:02:07

Has to be the 60s for me - left school & started work in 1962, ditched possessive boyfriend in 63 and later that year first met by beloved DH, who was the drummer in a local beat group, who also did a lot of playing "warm-up group" for famous bands so I met loads of them. At the same time I was part of a popular, all girl folk singing group so evenings were mainly taken up with either practises or performances. We married in 1966 had 4 wonderful carefree years until DD1 arrived, early in 1970 and a new chapter, as a loving family began...

Norah Sat 05-Nov-22 13:54:50

I can't choose between the early 60s, newly married and had our first 2 babies, and the 80s we had our second 2 babies, received first 4 GC.

Juliet27 Sat 05-Nov-22 13:33:27

I agree with all that wording nanna8

Doodledog Sat 05-Nov-22 13:30:55

I was a teen in the 70s, so remember them fondly, although I think more because I was young and carefree than because they were intrinsically good.

I had my babies in the 90s, and those years were great because of that. Babies and young children make you see the world through new eyes, and there was a lot of magic seeing them develop. Also, my career was starting to take off a bit then, and it was the 'things can only get better' decade, when there was political hope and a sense that they really might.

As others have said, though, there have been good and bad in every decade so far.

ginny Sat 05-Nov-22 13:24:11

Not articulate! Particular.

ginny Sat 05-Nov-22 11:05:53

No articulate decade for me. Each one has bought good, bad, happy and sad, ups , downs and smiles and frowns.
But in the whole I have been happy I each decade.

Definitely the 80's and 90's when we were in the Netherlands and the children were growing up at home with us.

Kate1949 Sat 05-Nov-22 10:45:20

I too am torn between the 60s and 70s. I loved the 60s music, my Beatlemania, the concerts, the fashions, visiting London, going to Biba and scraping enough money to buy a top there. I was tall and slim (I'm still tall grin ) just the right shape for 60s clothes.
However, our daughter was born in 1970 and that was obviously incredible.
