BBC have really lost the plot this year....Tony Adams epic failure Saturday night sees him voted through by the Arsenal fan club!!....thought this was "dancing" competition. I'm fuming

Fleurpepper Sun 06-Nov-22 20:00:15

Poor Ellie, she deserved to stay and Tony to go.

Harris27 Sun 06-Nov-22 20:01:08

Absolutely rubbish isn’t it?

Granmarderby10 Sun 06-Nov-22 20:06:31

It has always been a popularity contest.

NotAGran55 Sun 06-Nov-22 20:50:48

If it was a dance competition the public wouldn’t vote - it is entertainment.
We have this type of situation every year and it is makes it mainstream Saturday night viewing.

I agree LizHsnd

I think Tony will be in for another couple of weeks wrong really isn’t it! When better dancers have left, obviously an awful lot of people find him entertaining

Perhaps people like to watch Dad dancing! grin

There is always the "comic" turn, on SCD. I don't ever like them (Anne Widdecombe, John Sergeant etc) and usually simply don't watch them. I do enjoy the rest though and think the next few weeks will be very good, it's quite a high standard (imho) and once TA gets into a Dance Off, the Judges will vote him out.

Nanatoone Mon 07-Nov-22 07:00:07

I thought Tony was so good the week before, such an improvement. I enjoyed that anyway. Ellie is very likeable but she would not be in the final, neither will Tony, so it doesn’t much matter to me which order they leave in.

lemsip Mon 07-Nov-22 07:19:38

well it isn't a 'strictly' dancing competition is it! otherwise it would be just the judges voting.

it's a very entertaining celebrity show where the public at home vote for who they want to save!
I enjoy it and my favourite is still in there

it will be tony adams old teammates and families voting for him not the total arsenal fans many who won't know who he is. he will not win will he.

dogsmother Mon 07-Nov-22 08:04:23

Same every year, Tony will eventually be in the dance off and the judges will then boot him as he’s no dancer. Currently he’s getting along on the pop vote. That’s it.

Joseanne Mon 07-Nov-22 08:10:49

If all the contestants were Tonys then not many people would watch Strictly. If all the contestants were wonderful dancers people wwould still watch.
I guess tthrowing the odd funny one in here and there is no big deal.

muse Mon 07-Nov-22 10:27:48

First and foremost, it’s an entertainment programme and because of that it gets a prime time slot.

This situation arises most years and Tony will go.

I’ve always enjoyed the show and tolerate certain elements of it: judges and one of the presenters! However, I do hope CRH never leaves 😄

Sparklefizz Mon 07-Nov-22 11:03:26

Yes muse Craig is the only one who talks any sense (well, mostly!)

Deedaa Mon 07-Nov-22 11:08:59

I've seen people saying "Bring back Come Dancing" but as far as I remember that was shown late in the evening and watched by dance enthusiasts. It was never mass entertainment for a Saturday night.

Theexwife Mon 07-Nov-22 11:23:32

If he keeps being voted for then it is what most people want so it cannot be wrong.

dragonfly46 Mon 07-Nov-22 11:28:04

Apparently the Arsenal base fan club are voting en masse for Tony Adams without even watching the show. They think he could win!

Grandmadinosaur Mon 07-Nov-22 11:30:37

I’ve heard this too dragonfly I’m just hoping that as we head towards the end of the series common sense prevails.

Zoejory Mon 07-Nov-22 11:31:35

Tony won't win. But he provides entertainment for many. My 26 year old daughter loves him. She's not a football fan at all.

Hamza will win 🏆

Sparklefizz Mon 07-Nov-22 12:17:28

I like Hamza very much. He's very humble, doesn't get over-excited at the results, and clearly works very hard..... however, for Shirley to say that his recent Cha Cha was the very best she'd "ever seen" was ridiculously OTT in my opinion. His dancing was good, but the very best ever seen during Shirley's decades of professional dancing??

With the random marking that the judges have given in this series I have joined those who wonder if Strictly is fixed, and whether Hamza is being promoted to win, and Tony is being kept in to make it more interesting for the audience with a "Will he/won't he get through" scenario. Dare I say it ... maybe our votes count for nothing?

eazybee Mon 07-Nov-22 14:22:33

Keeping poor dancers in is one way of eliminating competition, witness Ellie T, who doesn't seem aware of how limited she is. At least Tony Adams acknowledges his lack of ability.
