I always love the Kevin the carrot ones but i think this years are not as good as was it last years when he did a 'christmas carol' take off?

Its not THAT good- its trying to be heartfelt yes but its still there, little hints i guess (visually) that you can get skateboards etc at John Lewis and it didnt make me blub. Its certainly better than some they've had more recently though. And at least they're starting to think of others than themselves. We hope.🤔

Love it.

Goodness, that caught me at the end. Very well done John Lewis.

With all the ills going on in the world at the moment, I guess they found one that would strike home in the appropriate way, but I disagree it isn't about sales of JL products and advertising, or they wouldn't do it.

I've taken in children over the years for the Christmas holidays.

This advert is lovely but to be honest I don't really like any of them this year. Maybe I'm just being bah humbug

Chocolatelovinggran Thu 10-Nov-22 17:38:36

Oh my - now I'm blubbing....

It’s lovely, and yes it’s very different from all the other totally commercial Christmas ads. Having said that, I also like Aldi’s Kevin “Home Alone” ad.

Very commendable

In complete contrast to the Lidl Christmas ad.

LondonMzFitz Thu 10-Nov-22 12:50:24

Gosh, unexpected blub at the end from me. Lovely and non commercial.

Kate 54 I think it's very relevant to all of us, highlighting the work done by Foster Parents and perhaps prompting donations.

Blinko Thu 10-Nov-22 11:23:00

I love it!

Galaxy Thu 10-Nov-22 11:21:43

Oh I love it.

It was an excellent advert. JL obviously recognise the cost of living crisis and their marketing team felt an advert with lots of goodies would be out of place. And it highlights a sad situation too thus linking JL with charity. I know that sounds a tad cynical but adverts are there to sell a product and this one is tasteful rather than tasteless.

They have done it again, haven't they?

Gg we have no other department stores! But it is my go to too.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 10-Nov-22 10:19:05

Well done John Lewis 👏👏

Always has been my go to Department Store.

CraftyGranny Thu 10-Nov-22 10:05:49

A very moving advert. Well done JL

Kate54 Thu 10-Nov-22 10:04:07

It may be wonderful but since we no longer have a JL within 70 miles, not relevant!

Fairislecable Thu 10-Nov-22 09:48:24

That was lovely and without the twee product placement of buy the soft toy etc.

NotAGran55 Thu 10-Nov-22 09:42:02

Another JL triumph.
Hopefully this will get the viewers donating if they can.

Sparklefizz Thu 10-Nov-22 09:34:05

Love it - but was in tears. Very moving, I agree with you westendgirl.

Sparklefizz Thu 10-Nov-22 09:30:35

I've just read something about it.... will go and take a look.

westendgirl Thu 10-Nov-22 09:29:36

I saw it this morning and was very moved by it. I felt John Lewis were highlighting things that matter.
What do you think ?
