I'm in the queue too Grey and Blue that cardigan is lovely.
Welsh Senedd Election - PR in action. This will be interesting!
Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and also raining here in brackley this morning.
Housework on the agenda to start with followed by hopefully a good walk to my surgery and back for blood test .
I am aiming at a 20 minute walk both ways weather permitting .
Take Care,
Mick
I'm in the queue too Grey and Blue that cardigan is lovely.
I shall continue to keep everything crossed for you Megs. BlueSapphire if it doesn’t fit your friend I’ll send you my address!👏👏. But I’m sure she’ll love it!
Morning from a dry but dull NE.
Hope Ash improves quickly. Thoughts with all who have difficulties.
Sar53( I think), I’ve not tried my new air fryer yet, I’d be interested to know how you find it.
Have the best day possible folks.
Hope you're soon home Ashcombe, take good care, I always look out for you on the thread!!
You couldn’t have been kinder to your DL Mattie and should have no regrets about the conversation you’ve had.
Sorry to hear about Ashcombe and sending her every best wish.
Megs36 this must be quite an anxious time for you. 🤞 for your results on Saturday.
Woo hoo Shazza!
Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s sunny in my corner of Lancashire, currently 8°C. Hope your day goes to plan Mick.
Mr. B has been shopping, no shortages in Lidl and it was quiet. I shall be getting on with sorting out cards and making plans. I must speak to family and find out what they’re intending to do.
That must have been a difficult conversation GrandMattie. Well done for sticking to your guns. You really have been more than kind to someone in need. The way elderly and vulnerable people are let down by the care system saddens me. It’s shocking that none of her many friends were willing to step up though I am trying to be charitable.
Have a fabulous time in sunny Granada Brook.
Have a good day all, sending best wishes and healing thoughts to Ash and all who are under the weather 🌹
Dark 6degrees earlier, now a balmy 10degrees in Lancashire! Sun broken through gloriously autumnal
Megs hugs 💐
Good morning from a dry but cool NE.
Yesterday was a miserable, rainy day. Hairdresser came and was gone by 10am so I decided to give myself a day off from housework.
DIL sent a message to say she had ordered advent calendars for me to give GDs and they would be delivered this week. Within one hour the first arrived and the second came at 4pm. We have never seen such rapid delivery and one of them was Royal mail.
SIL coming today and we will go shopping, new decorations for the tree are on the list. I do not want plastic tat.
Sorry to hear Ashcombe is in hospital again, get well soon 💐
You did the right thing grandMattie, the conversation had to happen. You now know who DL's real friends are and you have more than done your bit.
The people who deemed DL's house suitable for an amputee ought to be brought to book. They offloaded the problem on to someone else, not good enough.
Have the best day you can.
Good morning from Durham, where I was woken at stupid o’clock by the window cleaner! It poured down all day yesterday so he was making an early start to catch up.
My dear friend starts chemo today, in a bid to contain her bowel cancer. Treatable, not curable.
Sorry to hear about Ash may she be back on the road to recovery very soon.
‘gM* I was always doubtful that your DL’s property purchase would fit in with expectations. However as others say you have done far more than her other friends, saved her a fortune and I know you won’t abandon her when she moves into Hotel accommodation. I think that move will also help her - being another step in getting back to independent living.
I have DD2’s little dog here again today, so a walk is on the cards later and I must give some thoughts towards Christmas gifts, as I will be away from 21/12.
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning all, sorry for setbacks with some of us, I have one too, my visit to consultant for biopsy result now postponed to Saturday, family have rescheduled as much as poss. Now feeling quite ill like I’m on drugs or in a coma, not sure if it’s anxiety or imagination.
Good morning from a grey W Kent. Spent yesterday sorting out Christmas cards and looking through bits I have purchased over the year, so I feel I have made a start. Taking a DF to a local garden centre this morning, tea and cake included.
Very sorry to hear your are back in Hospital Ash best wishes for a swift recovery.
gM it must have been a difficult conversation, glad you had it. I wondered if some of the visiting friends think you are wonderful and they know they just couldn't do it!
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Sorry to hear Ash is back in hospital hope it's a short stay.
GM don't feel bad your friend has been lucky you stepped up when needed, like others have said maybe some of her other friends couldn't accommodate her.
Shazza bet that's cheered you up this morning.
Brooke your Spanish trip sounds wonderful.
((hugs)) to all below par. We have our usual Wednesday picking up Gc from school.
Good Morning from s Yorks, where the sky is got but not a patch of blue. here's hoping. Bloods at the GP then the gym today.
GM you could do nothing else, well done for all.
I'm sorry to hear about Ash, and hope she won't be in hospital for long.
(thanks for the Trump news snippets!)
So sorry to read that Ashcombe has suffered such a setback and hope she responds to treatment soon. Good news from Shazza and a timely reminder not to jump to judgement from Urmston, and congratulations to gMattie for being brave as well as kind.
Am disconcerted at feeling so exhausted by yesterday, when the plumber was here most of the day fitting new radiators in the sitting room. Why am I tired? The plumber did most of the work! Still, the new radiators will be much more effective and the room cosy so worth the upheaval, and at least it meant that as I had to empty the glass cabinet and give it a good clean and the contents washed.
Dentist and singing today and the sun is shining so onwards and upwards.
Good morning everyone from a damp Northampton, but at least it is not raining at the moment. Should be dry enough to venture out this afternoon to the well-being cafe. Nice and cosy at the moment as DCat is sitting on my knee; it is her morning routine. Slept in till 8.30.
So concerned to hear the news about Ash, hope she makes a speedy recovery.
And grandMattie you have done the right thing.
Yesterday I finished the cardigan for my elderly friend, sewed the buttons on, then felt I had to wash it. It has been in and out of my knitting bag, being handled for about a year, and likely as not covered with cat fur(!), and luckily it washed and dried beautifully. I will give it to her this afternoon at the well-being cafe. She wants to pay me for making it, but I said no, just reimburse me for the wool, it has been a pleasure to make.
Then, at a loose end, I dug out the cardigan I was in the middle of making for me and started on that again - I am having to relearn the pattern. Kept me out of mischief for the rest of the day!
Hoping everyone has some time to take it easy today - looking at you, Marydoll.... Wishing all a good day.
Good morning from another corner of Sefton where the weather is as Gala states.
A friend is arriving in a few minutes so I need to get a move on. DGC will be with us later.
Have the best Wednesday possible everyone.

Happy news indeed Shazza! 👶
Another good morning from S Lanarkshire. I don’t seem to have had a moment to bless myself with recently, the same today so I’m just popping in to say hello. I have managed to read most days which has been good and among other things I have been envious of your trip to Spain brook, like Marydoll it has brought many happy and some crazy memories for me
Very sorry to hear about Ashcombe, sending prayers and good wishes. Also keeping my fingers crossed for you and your DH NanKate
Wishing everyone the best day possible 🦩🦩🦩
I will, thank you grandMattie. It can be my next book. I’m reading Portrait of a Marriage by Maggie O’Farrell at present. It’s quite descriptive and starting to irritate me because of that. Nothing like as good as Hamnet in my opinion.
It’s good you had the awkward conversation with your dear lodger yesterday. On the plus side, you have saved her many weeks of hotel accommodation. You’ve been stellar scooping her up and taking her in.
Perhaps some of her friends don’t live alone and their husbands aren’t keen? Plus maybe they don’t have a downstairs bathroom. Whatever their reasoning doesn’t mean they aren’t good friends in other ways in her life. I don’t like to be mean about people’s reasons. Most people are good souls and do their best where they can. Restrictions apply.
Sorry to hear about Ash too. A horrid setback for her. I hope she’s better very soon and out of hospital, back home for TLC with olddudders. He will be anxious in the meantime I dare say.
Pressed send too quickly !
Best wishes to Ash
gM you have already gone above and beyond , it will be a relief to get your house back to yourself !
Take it easy today Marydoll
I am delighted to hear your wonderful news Shazza you must all be thrilled. I hope you will be able to visit them very soon 😀
Good morning all from a sunny but very chilly Glasgow. Thankfully no frost as the window cleaner has just arrived.
Sorry to hear Ash is back in hospital.
You have been so kind to accommodate your DL. GM. She will indeed know who her true friends are now.
I will FaceTime GD2 later to find out if she is feeling any better. 🤞
No plan for today, just take it as it comes. I have put some sheeps wool and dried leaves in the new nesting boxes, hope the new residents approve.
Best wishes to all for a good day.
Marydoll, the hospital was only too glad to get rid of her. The Social Services only offered her washing care.. Nothing useful
OT went to see her house and deemed it suitable !!! A twee little cottage, tiny rooms, two up two down, full of steps, curvings stairs and no downstairs loo. It was impossible to let her go there - sitting in a puddle of wee or worse, seen to twice a day for a wash and/or food. Not possible.
The whole care services were delighted to let me shoulder the burden. Very sad really.
