Strong Leadership

The bullying culture at Westminster has been recognised and acknowledged for years.

There’s always been an action ministers and MPs can take. Don’t bully. The difference now is that if you do you will be reported, and quite rightly. Good leaders don’t bully, they don’t need to because they have the people management skills to take their staff with them, so won’t be reported.
If you think it’s a campaign against the current government, why do you think there have been bullying accusations and actions taken against MPs from the other parties as well?

Maddyone, you are quite right, it is a campaign, against the old guard. Replace with fresh new faces, except that they are not fresh, new or successful.

It’s not a campaign against ministers, Williamson and others were well out of line, we dont know yet what Rabbs incidents are, assertive is OK, abusive isn’t.

Well that’s an opinion.

Oh so it is Whitewave. I must have read it and not registered it.

To be fair I never check my posts WW so I could have quite easily said manure leadership. It has a certain ring to it grin

maddyone

I said absolutely nothing about strong leadership.

The OP is headed that?

Whitewavemark2 Wed 16-Nov-22 14:51:53

😄😄 I read that as manure leadership.

Oh I had missed the sandwich incident, how pleasant, what an example of mature leadership.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 16-Nov-22 14:44:56

Strong leadership does not mean throwing your sandwich contents at staff.

Strong leadership is not someone who has to have a “minder” when dealing with junior staff.

Strong leadership is not someone who absolutely goes off at the deep end when he/she feels that they have been thwarted.

There is nothing about a strong leader with Raab.

maddyone Wed 16-Nov-22 14:40:18

No, I don’t think so. It’s a campaign to get rid of these people. As soon as one’s gone, they start on another.

I think some of this behaviour used to be accepted as ‘assertive’. Indeed I have worked with men like this. Thankfully it’s now seen for what it is and I hope people will speak up about it.

Galaxy Wed 16-Nov-22 14:08:15

Or a culture of poor behaviour.

midgey Wed 16-Nov-22 14:06:21

Or lots of bullies?

maddyone Wed 16-Nov-22 13:55:52

It seems strange to me that we have now had allegations lodged about three MPs who happened to be ministers, one after the other. How strange, that’s never happened before. Maybe a campaign by the press?

Katie59 Wed 16-Nov-22 13:48:49

Strong leadership is needed no argument there, but belittling and abusing staff is not acceptable, Williamson crossed the line with “ slit your throat” etc.
A good leader gives his staff achievable targets with enough time and resources to do the work.

midgey Wed 16-Nov-22 12:01:30

Just listening to Dominic Raab on the news and I wondered if one person's leadership is another person’s bullying? I am not a fan of the man but it made me wonder.
