: A store that sells new husbands has opened in London where a woman may go to choose a husband.
Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates:

You may visit this storeONLY ONCE! There are six floors and the value of the products increases as the shopper ascends the flights. The shopper may choose any item from a particular floor or may choose to go up to the next floor but you cannot go back down except to exit the building!

So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband.
On the first floor the sign on the door reads:

Floor 1 - These men have jobs.
She is intrigued, but continues to the second floor, where the sign reads:

Floor 2 - These men have jobs and love children.
'That's nice,' she thinks, 'but I want more.'

So she continues upward. The third floor sign reads:

Floor 3 - These men have jobs, love children, and are extremely good-looking.

'Wow,' she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.

She goes to the fourth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 4 - These men have jobs, love children, are extremely good-looking, and do housework..

'Oh, mercy me!' she exclaims, 'I can hardly stand it!'

Still, she goes to the fifth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 5 - These men have jobs, love children, are extremely good-looking, do housework, and have a strong romantic streak.

She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor, where the sign reads:

Floor 6 - You are visitor 31,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please.
Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store.

PLEASE NOTE:

To avoid gender bias charges, the store's owner opened a New Wives store just across the street.

The first floor has wives that love sex.

The second floor has wives that love sex, have money and like beer.

The third, fourth, fifth and sixth floors have never been visited.

I loved it. It might be stereotype but it mad me laugh,

Blossoming

I smiled, but I was wondering where the ‘kind men with a sense of humour’ were. Good job I didn’t get Mr. B from a store grin

Me too, Blossoming. Fortunately for me, I found mine 55 years ago......

Still smiling. Some people are too sensitive.

Hazeld Sun 20-Nov-22 13:34:27

Brilliant, but then I love the old jokes

C123 Sun 20-Nov-22 13:33:25

Loved this, thanks Daddima!
Heard this one before but without the Wives shop across! 😂 😅 🤣

Oreo Sun 20-Nov-22 13:30:54

I laffed too 😂

LancashireGran Sun 20-Nov-22 13:23:00

I'm not sure which made me laugh most; the joke or the posters who've had a sense of humour bypass! grin

Cossy Sun 20-Nov-22 13:12:18

I smiled, wryly, but simply don’t get offended by husband/wife jokes as stereotypical as they might be there’s always a smidgeon of truth !

JaneR185 Sun 20-Nov-22 13:09:58

Funny! 🤣🤣

Mollygo Sun 20-Nov-22 13:04:26

I laughed🤣🤣

Susiewakie Sun 20-Nov-22 12:50:32

🤣🤣

I can see why some people would object to this (I don't) but I do wonder what the naysayers find funny. Perhaps they can post the jokes they laugh at so we can have a 'good' laugh too.

LovelyLady

I had a good laugh too.
Thank you for posting.
This is Gransnet and most like a joke.
I feel sorry for the miserable folk in life.
‘Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and you cry alone’
We’ve had few laughs recently. xx

My mother used to quote that saying, it was one of the most depressing ones in her repertoire! I like to think that if someone is crying I will stand with them not leave them alone

I laughed. I haven't lost my sense of humour in this PC world we live in.

janipans Sun 20-Nov-22 11:58:42

I give up! smile

janipans Sun 20-Nov-22 11:57:55

[laughing] ?

janipans Sun 20-Nov-22 11:57:14

It's a laughing emoji from me! [laugh] ... never added an emoji before (showing my age) - there isn't one listed on here for laughing so am experimenting. If it all goes horribly wrong I apologise for being computer illiterate (practically!).

Rufus was a male poster from Oz. He has a great sense of humour and enjoyed winding up some of the Grans. He was over 90. He just stopped posting and we all suspect the worst. We used to communicate via email but that's not operational any more. sad

Welbeck I’m with you.
Misandry, misogyny and even misanthropy.
Where is the humour? It’s just a clunky gag with a list of depressing stereotypes

What was the view like from the top floor?

Maggieanne Sun 20-Nov-22 11:48:19

Who is Rufus?

Yammy Sun 20-Nov-22 11:38:30

AussieGran59

Exactly, Callistemon21! But we love our fantastic Aussie men. Wouldn’t swap mine for the world and we’ve been married since 1879.

Sounds as though he came over on a convict ship....just joking.
I chose mine and he chose me at 17, we split up many times and married 7 years later.
I think he would be on the Victor Meldrew floor if there was one. Though the DDs and GC love him to bits just like me.
It did make me laugh.
Would I look for the same 40 years later yes I think I would?grin

ANMI52 Sun 20-Nov-22 11:32:16

Made me giggle - it’s a joke not a statement of fact 😱

icanhandthemback Sun 20-Nov-22 11:31:41

Bodach

As my mother used to say: "Laugh? My knickers were wringing.."

That's funnier than the original joke. 🤣🤣🤣

tickingbird Sun 20-Nov-22 11:23:21

I thought it was funny but I have a sense of humour and don’t take myself seriously.
