I just came across this.
Thankfully, blue sky thinking, and outside the box seem to have vanished.
Here are the Top 10 familiar but problematic words and phrases that people want banished in 2022.

•Wait, what?
•No worries.
•At the end of the day…
•That being said…
•Asking for a friend…
•Circle back
•Deep dive
•New normal
•You’re on mute.
•Supply chain

My least favourites on here are Deep dive OFSTED speak for however good you are, we’re looking for anything you might have missed!
The New Normal used by people when you express concern about something unpleasant or inherently dangerous that is becoming commonplace.

Or

"Stop me if I've already told you, but....." *carries on regardless*

That’s funny- and so true ! I have a very long winded friend who always says “to cut a long story short”. But he never does !

No problem
You guys
High Five
At the end of the day
My bad
You've got this (someone said that to me when I was in hospital, unable to do anything at all, after a stroke)

OnwardandUpward Mon 21-Nov-22 12:09:32

Or

"Stop me if I've already told you, but....." carries on regardless

eazybee Mon 21-Nov-22 11:46:43

'As the story goes'
'Have I told you this before?' (yes, many times but I am going to repeat it anyway)

• Hit the ground running
• Pivot

People who say 'Lovely' to every item you order on a menu.

‘Not a problem’ sounds so much better in French - "Pas de problème, Madame"

LRavenscroft Mon 21-Nov-22 11:23:55

With all due respect....
No offense but.....

bluebird243 Mon 21-Nov-22 11:21:30

'You've got this'

[When asked 'Are you ready?'...the response]
'Ready as I'll ever be'

'My bad'

Double down, hate it

I hate this too.

BlueBelle Mon 21-Nov-22 11:15:21

I must admit to using ‘ not a problems’ when asked to do something and no worries

I’ve never heard of ‘deep dive’ is it dirty ?

Starting the sentence with So is my pet hate
Being called ‘hun’ by strangers
The rainbow bridge 🤮
Fur babies

nanna8 Mon 21-Nov-22 10:59:20

‘No worries,’I hear just about every day. It is endemic here. Same with ‘Howya going ?’ The answer is, ‘Good’. I don’t mind them at all, can’t see anything boring / nasty about them. The only thing that annoys me is people who start a sentence with ‘So’because I am sick of it. ‘Seeya later’is another we use all the time here along with ‘talk soon’.

toscalily Mon 21-Nov-22 10:38:54

Fanny, we were having lunch out recently and the young waiter said it every time we spoke to him, menu, not a problem, drink one, not a problem, drink two, not a problem food order one, not a problem, food order two, not a problem, dessert, not a problem, bill.......... it drove me mad.

FannyCornforth Mon 21-Nov-22 10:30:21

‘Not a problem’

When you have asked someone to do their actual job:

‘Two dry white wines please’
‘Not a problem’

I should blooming well think not!

It sounds so churlish
(she said…churlishly)

One that really, really. gets to me is "see you later" even when there is not a cats chance in hell that they will. Had it said to me on the telephone too.

Or "see you soon" is even worse when you don't want to see them soon and would rather see them later grin or not.

Callistemon21 Mon 21-Nov-22 10:28:26

•No worries Mate
Sorry, but that's ubiquitous Down Under!

•At the end of the day…
My mother used to sing that to me! Perhaps as encouragement to me to be good.

"I'm sorry if I offended anyone"
"Fur baby"

OnwardandUpward Mon 21-Nov-22 10:28:22

"When the muck hits the fan..."

(Where does this even come from? )

"woke" is annoying as well.

Cressy Mon 21-Nov-22 10:27:52

My truth

And I definitely don’t want to start a discussion about any one who uses that term……

‘Let me be clear…’ inevitably followed by a load of confusing claptrap
Or ‘The Prime Minister has been very clear’, when they have been anything but.
These applied mainly to Liz Truss

(I used to hate ‘wait, what?’
All the kids at school said it, usually in response to a simple instruction)
