I just came across this.
Thankfully, blue sky thinking, and outside the box seem to have vanished.
Here are the Top 10 familiar but problematic words and phrases that people want banished in 2022.

•Wait, what?
•No worries.
•At the end of the day…
•That being said…
•Asking for a friend…
•Circle back
•Deep dive
•New normal
•You’re on mute.
•Supply chain

My least favourites on here are Deep dive OFSTED speak for however good you are, we’re looking for anything you might have missed!
The New Normal used by people when you express concern about something unpleasant or inherently dangerous that is becoming commonplace.

Callistemon21 I love Nessa-isms too!

Dislikes:

Rainbow bridge and fur babies
You got this (even worse than you've got this!)
Gifting
Lay down instead of lie down
Disinterested instead of uninterested
Let me be clear
Critique instead of criticise
Mis-CHEEV-ious instead of mischievous

Lucca yes!!!
I noticed that a few months ago and mentioned it on here.

I follow a lot of nail art and curly hair gubbins on Reddit, and it’s full of

‘Here’s my (or your) new obsession’

‘I’m obsessed with these!’

Usually followed by something rather mundane

Oh yes, so twee. Also LOL. Often written after something not remotely funny,

A new one I’ve noticed is “I’m obsessed with”. Applied to say a pair of shoes …,

My most hated ones from academia:-

Lets touch base
Its not rocket science
Keep me in the loop
Not to be too finicky but
A basic plan
Lets catch up ..

And some of the American ones:-

At this time (we dont do it and never will)
Away from the computer (not taking or answering messages)
Work with us (collaborate or compromise)

and - as Aussiegran said - the 'yeah, nah' - but here in the UK, it's 'ya, no' - repeated ad nauseum, bloody irritating and confusing for a Spanish friend - as over there it means 'I don't know'. I told her it's upper class twit chat!

Hetty58 Sat 26-Nov-22 20:31:16

Anything to do with 'the universe' deciding - and somebody close who says 'literally' this or 'literally' that - grrr!

Still in use:
It’s on him/her/them.
Back in the day.
So…
No worries.
Jesus on a bike.

Grrr!

I’ve just looked up “ cis woman” because I didn’t know what it meant, but now I have and I dislike it intensely, too!

lixy Fri 25-Nov-22 20:43:07

Hun

and, from restaurant staff, Enjoy followed by Is everything Ok for you? for the third time.

maddyone Fri 25-Nov-22 20:33:09

Cis woman
You guys
Can I get
Got your back
I’m loving it

Lyng17 Fri 25-Nov-22 18:28:42

I'm loving (e.g your hair) instead of I love. Why?

M0nica Mon 21-Nov-22 22:53:45

LancashireGran I think your definition is very kind compared with what would define it as.

My choice would that 'my truth, is the one that shows me to be a good and wonderful person and enables me to put other people down

. It does apply to someone famous, but it applies to many others, because this is what narcissists do and how they see the world.

Dismissing one’s feelings by the saying “ it’s a first world problem “.

Hear hear.
I absolutely cannot stand people who trot that out on chat forums. Likewise the idiots who ask 'have you nothing else to worry about?' I've been asked that when bereaved and heartbroken and just trying to distract myself with some idle chit chat on here. I'm sure it's the same for many other posters. People need to think before they post.

“Enjoy” by waiters delivering food, even when looks unappetising!
“To be honest” preceding every sentence, as if they are in the habit of lying.

"Cis" woman. Offensive and unnecessary. A woman is simply that and requires no further clarification.

I couldn't agree more.
