Driving home just now, I caught the tail end of this first episode of a 6 part Radio 4 series on Eugenics. I will listen to it properly later, but interested (!) to hear that Winston Churchill was quite a proponent of this idea.

a lot of the big-wigs were from about 1890-1930, and beyond in germany of course.
they saw it as sensible, rational, like planned parenthood but on a national sale.

Marie Stopes started her birth control clinics, not to help women, but to lower birth rates among the lower classes, who undesirables. She wouldn’t let her son marry a girl who was not perfect as she wore glasses.

well, that girl dodged a bullet, as they'd say over on MN.
