Good Morning Everyone,
A dark and wet start here in brackley this morning.
A quiet day in I may even start to write Christmas Cards because of the Postal strikes and post over next few days.
Yesterday , Bicester was busy as to traffic where's all the money coming from .
Take Care,
Mick
That made me laugh Shazza! You do have a great SOH.
🤣
Our Christmas lunch is on. The family are negative. Our son is coming with GS too which we weren’t sure if he had him this afternoon or if he was with his mum. Kitchen smells lovely. We will whip the GC up into an excited frenzy and send them home lol X
Good morning Mick and all from a dull northwest coast.
Quiet morning after a full day yesterday, lunch and gallery with friend whose eye troubles have prematurely aged him.
He’s eight years younger than me (my toy boy) 😁but now I feel I’m with an elderly man, I hope his next cataract surgery will give him a boost. Then hopped on to a train into the city for a peek at the lights and a drink in a pub which has managed to stay old fashioned amidst the modern Babylon.
Off this afternoon for switch on of lights in the next village and the gardener is due. I wish I knew his timings…
Enjoy your nice meal amserilin and thoughts to chrissielou grandMattie and all with troubles.
Stunning emerald necklace from Boodles exhibition yesterday.
Good morning.
It’s not as bright as yesterday but at least it’s still dry.
I hope your mum is going to be alright, Pittcity. It’s such a worry for you.
Like you, Mick I plan to write some cards today ready to go in the post. I’m cutting down the amount I send this year, as the cost is getting ridiculous.
The advent wreath is on the table now. I always think that once it comes out, Christmas is soon upon us.
Hello, Arlme.
To all who are struggling, take care.
A warm welcome Alrme. 👋
Welcome Arlme 👋
Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s another cold, damp and cloudy morning in this corner of Lancashire. I’m enjoying my morning tea propped up on pillows in my comfy bed. We have had a long lie in, lazy creatures
. My tum seems to have settled, fingers crossed. Don’t think I’ll be eating much today though!
Nothing planned for today other than writing a few more Christmas cards. I can only manage a few at a time so I spread it out.
Thank you for the beautiful photos Ginny and Brook, so different to the heavy grey sky I can see right now!
Welcome to this friendly thread Arlme
Your daughter has had a tough time Chrissieslou, I hope her recovery is going well, also Gingster hope things have settled for your daughter too. Love to Baggs and DD as always. Thinking of Greyduster, hoping surgery went well and she is now on the road to recovery.
My mug is empty and meds all taken so I will force myself out from under this lovely duvet and get moving.
Hope all our poorly grans and family members are on the mend. Wishing you all a good day.
Urms Mr.B would absolutely eat that cake! Not for me though, the mere smell of hard boiled eggs makes me retch.
Thinking of our friends with poorly family members.💐 Enjoy your visits out and welcome to new posters. I’m sure Sunday lunches and GC snuggles will be wonderful. 🌻
Shazza sorry to read your day may be cancelled but at least you have got decorations up.🎄🎄
GM a difficult task I know my friend put a little note in her cards.
Lovely pictures from far away places .✈
You do right Marydoll have a test Hope the voice comes back soon.
Hope Gg is recovering well .
Have a good day all.
👋 Anniebach, Amselerin and Arlme.
I’ve been out of the loop for some time but want to send caring thoughts to the many with problems.
amselerin
I am so pleased to hear that the pavement outside the Manchester station has been cleaned Urms. xx
Yes, Urmston town centre is looking very smart amselerin! Christmas lights are being put up by the council workers next week. (Won’t be matching Calle Larios ‘ though brook 😁 we went this time 2019 and thought they were spectacular with all the music and displays).
Your meal and the market place in your town sound wonderful amselerin - so culturally different and interesting. Thank you for coming on and sharing!
Thanks for the welcome george'sgran and lulusaugust. Have a lovely day.
Oh Pittcity just read your post. It’s a good job you went over. I hope your mum is okay and gets better soon. x
Good Morning all from dry Harrogate.
You do have the hardest tasks Grandmattie you have my sympathy.
Some enviable photos have appeared - thank you ladies.
I do love Matt Urms so near to the point.
Since church today is a joint service with another church, I have decided not to go, could be a bit crowded, I've got a CT scan to look forward tomorrow, don't want anything to get in the way of it! We are going away for a few days on Tuesday, I'm taking the Christmas cards with me to start writing them - seems we are all starting early to avoid the postal strikes. I was shocked last Sunday to receive post!!
Have the best day possible folks.
Good morning from a dark and dismal East Midlands. Another afternoon of knitting ahead.
Good morning from a very still Durham. Went out to feed the birds and it doesn’t feel cold at all. DD2 has suggested we go to a garden centre near her, where they have donkeys inside at this time of year. Afterwards, she’s booked lunch at a gastropub.
DD1 and her family are away in a log cabin with hot tub, DGS2 is loving it.
Welcome to Arlme and best wishes to all.
Good morning all from a wet W Kent. Survived our atrial fibrillation tests at the Drs yesterday but amazed to find the surgery in full swing with plenty of people for the tests and others having injections obviously Saturday afternoon is the time to go! Brief meeting with DD2 and family as they had been to the Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park and came by to collect their car. They all looked exhausted with travelling during a train strike.
Quiet day today, DH says he feel fragile and I have a lot of parcel packing to be going on with, so we shall take it gently.
Welcome to Arlme
Best wishes to all
Good morning. I saw that Annie had posted, and I was so touched. Bless you Annie and get better soonest.
Good morning too to all other GN's.
Have to be quick as our GD is visiting today, bring my precious GGD and the new GGS. Oh happy days.
Unfortunately, I didn't sleep well last night, with various aches and pains.
I will get out my candle holder and ask GGD to light the first Advent candle.
When there is peace and quiet, later on, I will come back and read all the posts.
Have a good day one and all.
Here’s Matt.
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where its dry, not windy but no sun either. Himself is peeling the veg already 😱 for our Sunday dinner at 4pm (he doesn’t hang about if something needs doing - unlike me - but they do say opposites attract don’t they?). He will pick my stepfather up at 2pm and I meet them in the Loungers Bar underneath. I try to nab a table by the window - it’s a popular place. Wine is expensive in there though - a large Sauvignon Blanc for me is an eye watering £9.65 .... sometimes I slum it and have Pinot Grigio Blush at £8.40 though. 😁
I do realise one could buy a bottle at those prices. And do. But it’s the sociability aspect that appeals and it does pad out our afternoon.
Good morning all from Glasgow. Sunny blue skies and dry, a perfect day.
So pleased to hear how well your DD is doing Chrissielou. My best wishes for her to now go on from strength to strength and enjoy life.
I was so in love with Omar Sharif grandmabatty. Those eyes as you say just melted my heart and Lara’s theme. Friends and I went to see the film when we were 15. DD1 had just started to watch it for the first time when I dropped GD2 off and I stayed to watch with her, tissues at the ready, she loved it too.
Hoping Grey’s surgery has gone well.
We had such a lovely time during GD2’s stay. She has been so worried about her Grampa and needed this one on one time with him to reassure her he is so much better and they still share the same wicked sense of humour. Best medicine for both of them.
Wishing a good day for all, especially for those with continued worries and illness.
Good morning all from a wet and windy south Hants - Ddog will have to wait for his walk till there’s a break in the skies.
Busy day today GDs here in about half an hour so I need to get a move on! It’ll no doubt be a craft day due to the weather.
Will hopefully get a chance to read your posts later.
Have the best day you can everyone.
Hugs and 💐 for you all x
Good morning all. Thank goodness the weather has calmed down on the Angus coast - really strong winds yesterday afternoon and evening, with equally heavy rain in the evening. Today the bedding is in the washing machine ready to be hung out - very much a case of grab the moment just now never mind whether it needs washing or not
Sorry to hear about your mum Pittcity, but glad you can share the worries with siblings. I'm fast approaching the age when I too will be a burden to my children, although very well and fit at the moment ..... It gives me pause for thought when I read of the problem 'from the other side', so to speak.
The intensity of those blue skies, Ginny!
Brook those lights! And it must have been lovely to be part of those celebrations.
Grandmattie it's a difficult time and although I've been there - in 1994 after DH was killed and then six years ago when my partner and my son-in-law died of unexpected heart attacks just four days apart - I can't really remember writing the Christmas cards those years. Probably just a little note to the effect of "You'll be sad to learn ......". Just keep on in there, you're doing so well 💐
What a sweet girl your friend's DD is Grandmabatty - you'll remember her with every whiff of the candle over Christmas.
Now off I go, full of bustle and intent, to get things done around here. Have a lovely Sunday everyone, and I hope you get to your church service Ash.
Good morning everyone, my first post in this thread but I have lurked for a while 😉. Fairly bright but a little damp here in Herefordshire. Going to see my daughters family and grandson today, my husband is staying here this time. We think something maybe wrong with the cat, he is hardly eating and sleeps a huge amount. Have posted in the staying put or moving thread and hoping for some helpful replies. Perhaps it’s time to think about the Christmas tree?
Have a good day everyone.
