Do you live in or near SUNNINGHILL

I'm thinking of relocating from elsewhere in Berkshire. What are your thoughts on Sunninghill? Activities? Bus routes? nearest supermarkets? Groups? U3A? Any thoughts you may care to contribute? TIA

At one time, not so long ago I often found myself driving throuh Sunningdale near Sunninghill on the way somewhere else. What's it like to live in that area?, expensive I imagine!. It's nicely wooded and nearby Virginia Water is a lovely place to visit as is Savill Gardens. There is also an exceptionally nice garden centre nearby, I remember visiting, can't remember the name though. Supermarkets, there is a Waitrose in Sunningdale and an even better , newer and bigger one further down the road in Bagshot, almost opposite The Earl and Countess of Wessex's place, well you can see their wall when you drive past it, if not the house.

Queenie has come back to ask again for information. This sort of topic is often a useful resource on Mumsnet - first-hand experience of living in an area.

It’s not surprising she decided to try again.

I read it as “from elsewhere to Berkshire” assuming “in” was a typing error.
It’s quite an old thread, now, though, so perhaps the OP has found answers or had a rethink. We’ll perhaps never know.

Sometimes people have unexpected events in their lives so can’t return to their posts in a timely fashion. Although with the insinuations flying around I wouldn’t blame her for leaving it.

Having lived in various towns in Berkshire I could well believe it could take a couple of hours to drive from Slough to Hungerford.

Sarah75 Sun 22-Jan-23 10:07:29

It would help all round if the OP returned!

FannyCornforth Sun 22-Jan-23 10:06:26

Don’t ask! 😣

Perhaps in the intervening three weeks or so, Queenie2 realised that some (regular) contributors have to make an argument wherever possible. What prompted yesterday’s attack at 20.23 yesterday Mawthemerrier? Please tell!

Oreo Sun 22-Jan-23 09:45:49

See what I did there😆 and yes, it was a mistake.Put not out.

Oreo Sun 22-Jan-23 09:44:52

Of course you can.A quickly out together question can often come out wrong.

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 22-Jan-23 09:40:43

You can’t change the wording of a post to give it a totally different meaning!

Oreo Sun 22-Jan-23 09:39:12

I can’t help as don’t live near, but Reading is a big place with loads of shops and clubs, Windsor is lovely but obvs touristy.

Do you think there's a lack of clarity from Q2?
Perhaps he/she meant to say 'relocating from elsewhere to Berkshire'?

Soz, didn’t see your post.We are thinking alike.smile

Oreo Sun 22-Jan-23 09:34:45

I think you have read this all wrong Maw The Merrier
The date on this OP is 1st Dec and the one you mention is 19th Jan so Queenie is asking again for any details.
If you read the OP at the top a different way, it doesn’t mean that she already lives in Berkshire. It’s just badly worded.
Thinking of moving from elsewhere to Berkshire instead of in would have been more clear.
From the two OP’s shown it doesn’t sound at all like a wind up to me, sounds like a genuine interest in what it’s like in the area.

MawtheMerrier Sat 21-Jan-23 22:45:20

Ah well, we shall have to remain in the dark confused and wish Queenie well in her move wherever it is to, (Windsor? Frogmore?) tcrsmiletcrsmile

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 21-Jan-23 22:33:18

Possibly. Only s/he can say.

Hmmm …

NotAGran55 Sat 21-Jan-23 22:19:47

Have you given up on Sunninghill Queenie2 and decided to move closer to your family 2.5 hours away?
It can’t be Berkshire as it would take less than an hour to drive from one end of the county to the other, or the rest of your life by bus!
You also mentioned living near to a city and we don’t have one in Berkshire 🤷🏼‍♀️?

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 21-Jan-23 20:54:55

Well, NotAGran said there is a bus service. I guess some people living there might need public transport. No acknowledgement from the OP though which seems very bad mannered to me when help has been given,

crazyH Sat 21-Jan-23 20:28:56

Do people in Sunninghill use buses?

MawtheMerrier Sat 21-Jan-23 20:23:56

^Quote Queenie2 Thu 19-Jan-23 19:45:19
My GC live 2.5 hours away. I need to downsize and thinking of moving near to them albeit about 10-15 miles away. I would value some opinions , suggestions and experiences. .

Is Berkshire so big that you can drive 2.5 hours and still be within the county? 2.5 hours from Sunninghill, but you already live in Berkshire anyway?
Come off it, OP, how do you explain this away?
Why am I bothered?
I don’t know, but I do know that I don’t like to see kind Grans taken advantage of when they offer genuine suggestions and help to what no looks to be no more than a bit of a wind-up. If on the other hand these two enquiries are entirely unrelated and separate I sincerely apologise, but would have expected you to come back before now to make things clear.
Queenie, Berkshire - Windsor perhaps? tcrconfused

NotAGran55 Thu 29-Dec-22 06:07:40

The White Bus services a limited route to Windsor from Monday to Saturday via The Great Park.
The nearest supermarket would be Waitrose in Sunningdale or a Sainsbury Local in Ascot on the High Street.

I can’t help with clubs as the last one I went to there was The Brownies!

Andrew and Fergie lived in Sunninghill Park which was a couple of miles away from the village.

Queenie2 Thu 29-Dec-22 00:20:09

Dear Lemsip. The info that is thrown up by Google is in no way personal. It is only generic. Still hopeful

lemsip Wed 28-Dec-22 11:49:09

why don't you just google it? or are you mentioning Sunninghill for a different reason queenie2
