Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark as usual but cold and dry out here in brackley with cold easterly wind adding to the chill.
Today a quiet day in watching TV etc , but trying to avoid football matches .
I have put on a little seasonal weight , but have to try and loose some as to hospital guidelines, a few years ago I brought a exercise bike but its pedals only but i can apply pressure to make it harder it gives a display of rpm as well so aim for 10 minutes and increase to keep fit ,as I have suffered outside with the cold chill .
Take Care,
Mick

Here’s Matt.

A later good morning everyone from me over in south Manchester. I slept in it seems! Yet I went to bed around 10pm. Must have needed it. It’s dry here, not sunny and looks cold out.

Chilli for Sunday dinner today but picking my stepfather up and driving over to a local pub in Flixton. It will be cosy as their Christmas tree and twinkly garlands are up and there’s a log fire. He was saying he’s not been in this pub since the family christening meal for the Boy Wonder! He’s looking forward to the change he said yesterday.

After Himself has taken him home he’s driving over to have a game of chess with the Boy Wonder as he wants to practice. He’s been chosen for the Y6 team and play matches against other local schools. His parents don’t know how to play so it’s grandad to the rescue!

Good morning from a grey skied Colchester.
We slept late this morning. I think we may have gone into hibernation mode.
A quiet Sunday with a walk out, roast beef and football on telly later.
Love to all 🦩x

Good morning all from East Yorkshire,

A warm welcome to peli and MrsTeapot

Knaresborough market was much busier than I remembered it. Saw lots of coaches so that must have contributed. I managed to buy a few things and our lunch was delicious. Was so glad I’d thought to book a table. It was pleasant weather there but when got to 20 minutes from home it started to rain. Did you get to the market Gwen?

A day of house bound things today - cards, putting my jewellery in an armoire I’d bought in the week, general tidying. Steak for lunch so easy peasy.

It’s nice to read about everyone’s doings this time of year.

Safe journey home brook I’ve loved reading about your travels knowing that area.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from a very chilly and overcast East Northants, here at DD's. Seems I am the first up, so just enjoying a mug of tea.

DD's concert last night was lovely, suitably festive music. We were also treated to a performance of "Tubby the Tuba", which I haven't heard in years. Picture shows DD's band in festive mood.

A leisurely morning ahead, then we set off back into Northampton to meet DS and family to celebrate DD-out-law's 50th birthday with an afternoon tea. She requested no presents, just our company.

Hope all have a pleasant Sunday and that all can find some warmth somewhere today.

Grammaretto Sun 04-Dec-22 08:50:53

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. 2°C and raining .
DMiL has covid. She has avoided it so long. We are waiting to hear if she's to go to hospital. I hope not but she must be comfortable whatever.
As it's first Sunday of the month my house becomes a Quaker Meeting today. Someone is bringing soup, another bread for the lunch after.
All I need to do is light the fire
A carol singing this afternoon at the church where DH gravestone is which I may go to depending on his mum and if DD arrives.

Welcome to Peli and to MrsTeapot.
I hope you join the GM chat.

gMattie enjoy your day.
Safe journeybrook now you are set up for the icy weather.

Have a pleasant day whatever you are up to.

EkwaNimitee Sun 04-Dec-22 08:48:03

Good morning Mick and everyone from damp chilly Carlisle where it is a cloudy 3C.
I had an unprecedented 8 hours sleep last night, I think largely due to the dark mornings.
Football matches...hard to avoid, Mick! I won't be watching either but do like to check on the current results. And do like to see a penalty shootout but then that's more 1 to 1 action. You can tell I'm not a team player...I'm scarred by years of enforced hockey and netball at school, playing in shorts in freezing Essex winters.
I shall be in today, wrapping Christmas presents and reading mostly.

Welcome to you, peli and MrsTeapot, do stay with us.

Have a pleasant Sunday all of you.

Gala is Henry the name of the lamb you are eating? 🤔

GrannySomerset Sun 04-Dec-22 08:34:15

Church in the next village this morning and will continue with the clothes sorting started yesterday though I have moved things from one place to another rather than actually got down to getting rid of anything. Have a book group book to finish too.

Light at the end of the tunnel, gMattie!

Marydoll Sun 04-Dec-22 08:30:10

Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow, its only 2°C.

Welcome to our new posters.

Susan, your comment about H, made me laugh out loud!

I can't believe I slept most of the night, apart from clinging on to the edge of the bed for dear life.
How can one tiny little girl take up so much room?
No chance of lying in, Dollie is wide awake. 😁
Against my better judgement, I have put on the TV, as she is determined not to to go back to sleep.
She will most certainly grass me up to her parents! 😚

I am another one, for whom the cold is detrimental to chest and heart. It's bitter here this morning.
Dollie is recovering from a bout of croup and an asthma flare up and we are both coughing for Scotland!

I had the loveliest of days yesterday, a real mood lifter.
I went to the school fayre and met so many people I knew, some ex colleagues, ex students (now teachers) parents and pupils I taught.
Later DD and SIL arrived and much to DD's delight, she met old school friends, she hadn't seen in years.
Dollie was so shocked when the HT and Office Manager gave me a hug. Kudos indeed!

Back home, DD and Dollie decorated their tree, culminating with the grand switch on of the outside lights and everyone (apart from me) settling down to watch Muppets Christmas Carol.
Later we dragged a reluctant Hollie (complete with nail polish and lipstick 😱) to the Vigil Mass, where she gave me a hand with bits and pieces to stop her complaining, about how boring it was. 😆

We got back home to find DD had treated us to takeaway.
A perfect end to a perfect day.

I can't get peace to read your posts, so will read later. A special request has been made for scotch pancakes for breakfast, so I need to get moving.

I wish you all the best of days. Hope brook has arrived home safely.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 04-Dec-22 08:23:24

Morning all

It’s grey and going to be chilly here in S E Essex, welcome Peli and MrsTeapot

Never got round to baking yesterday, so todays the day for kitchen duty, mince pies (short and puff), a couple banana breads along with roast pork, cauliflower cheese, roasties and broccoli for dinner.

Wishing you all peaceful second Advent Sunday 🎄🤶🎁

dragonfly46 Sun 04-Dec-22 08:23:07

Good morning from a still dark Leicestershire.

Just realised I have nothing in for dinner but I am going to a food and drink fair in the next village so may find something there!

Lovely to see new visitors, as kitty says we love the weather reports where you are and the daily happenings in your lives.

Grandmabatty Sun 04-Dec-22 08:22:47

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 3° and showery. It feels cold. Welcome to the new posters. It's been all of us at one time or another. Susan a mixed day for you right enough. My dgs1 has started singing Jingle Bells but it segues into Old MacDonald had a farm. BlueBalou I am fond of venison but rarely have it now. Enjoy. Brook safe journey home.
Yesterday dgs1 and I had breakfast at the local garden centre which has a fabulous Christmas display. He charmed the waiter and the two ladies sitting beside us with his good manners, was singularly unimpressed by the singing reindeer but loved the low flying helicopter which passed overhead as we left to go home. I'm sure he thinks I arranged it. I did very little the rest of the day but nap.
Today I should be going to an art exhibition in my tutor's house. I'm not sure yet if I will. I need to go to M&S to pick up a parcel and get a box of Christmas biscuits. It'll be chicken curry for dinner. Have a good day all.

Oopsadaisy1 Sun 04-Dec-22 08:11:24

Good morning Mick from a chilly and overcast Lanzarote, heavy rain overnight, but there are patches of blue sky appearing. Our change over went well yesterday, allowed to stay in the first house until 1pm, then arrived here to find keys were ready for us. So a quick walk to the restaurant for lunch and then I found some books (yaaay) and we sat and watched the drizzle. We can’t complain as we’ve had very good weather so far and I don’t care what the weather does now we are close to the beach and the long walks, no car needed here.
I have to say as someone who has only bought 2 Christmas presents that I’m getting a tad anxious about being ready for the big day! At least I’ve got some Christmas cards in a box somewhere, no doubt they will turn up when I get the decorations out.
Hope everyone has a good day, hugs for those who aren’t so chipper. Welcome to the newbies.

baubles Sun 04-Dec-22 08:11:22

Good morning all from frosty South Lanarkshire.

Yesterday’s takings in the charity shop were amazing, I’m sure we broke our record for a single day’s trading. The Christmas market was running and the town was so busy as the lights were being switched on at five pm. A good day for everyone.

This morning I’ll go to church then meet DH for coffee before coming home to sort out laundry and food.

Welcome to the new posters and welcome back the travellers.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Beechnut Sun 04-Dec-22 08:10:52

Good Morning everyone from Severnside and welcome to the new morningers 👋 it’s cloudy. Yesterday was very cold, I had the heating on most of the day.

I had a good session with my cards yesterday. Made a few in the beginning that I wasn’t keen on then got into the swing of things. Hoping to post tomorrow.

Beechnutella is coming to mine later and we are going to a Christmas Fabre together.

Your H reminded me off a concert I went to a few years ago Susan. A primary school took part and one little boy was a star for me. He was singing away and doing some actions.

I’ve got a chilli in the slow cooker for later.
Keep warm and well all 🌬🌬

Gala Sun 04-Dec-22 08:06:00

Good morning from a grey Sefton. What was a very frosty night walking back from the quiz last night seems to have "warmed up" a bit. No sign of frost now.
An enjoyable evening last night. Our family team came joint second. It was a fundraising event so hopefully raised a decent amount for our local musical theatre group. No plans so a quiet day today. Lamb Henry for tea.
Take care all.

Jaxjacky Sun 04-Dec-22 08:05:12

Morning from a chilly, cloudy S Hants. Welcome peli and MrsTeapot.
Busy day yesterday, friends for lunch and driving about after.
Quieter today, until tonight’s game.
Safe journey brook thermals on.
Enjoy your day all 🦩🦩

MawtheMerrier Sun 04-Dec-22 08:00:19

Good morning from under the duvet. Grey and cold outside as Rosie indicated by her turn of speed coming back in from a quick wee in the garden! I suppose if I had to rely on a privy at the bottom of the garden I could summon up a quick dash too.
Coffee with a friend this morning - and this time I must remember to take back the accumulation of books she has lent me (not that I have read them, my own pile of Books To Read is quite high enough)
Probably about to panic as the days are slipping away - I checked the calendar to add in a new hair appointment and see to my horror I’m doing something every day for the next 2 1/2 weeks including having D3’s in-laws to lunch on Friday which I had totally forgotten about .
Time to get Organised.
For all with ills or sorrows or worries, I send sincere wishes for comfort and respite, wishing you all a pleasant day.

ginny Sun 04-Dec-22 07:57:53

Good morning. We are now waiting to disembark at Southampton.
It’s been a great cruise but I’m ready to get home now and get dug in with all things Christmas.
Will come back to read the thread later.

kittylester Sun 04-Dec-22 07:38:20

Good morning all from a very cold North Leicestershire.

Sadly, the village lights switch on was beset by pouring rain. But, apparently, the choir did brilliantly.

Not much happening today except doing a pot roast chicken for between the football matches.

Welcome to all newcomers, please come back regularly. We love getting weather reports from where ever you are.

Sending love and gentle hugs to all who need them.

Susan56 Sun 04-Dec-22 07:38:03

Good morning from Shropshire.

Yesterdays Nursery Christmas show went well.H did really well for the first few songs giving it his all but then turned into a three year old version of Kevin the teenager when he had had enough🙈🤣

Lunch with my mum went well but trying to explain her finances was awful🤯I felt really sad coming home.It all started when the bank sent her a new card she hadn’t asked for and didn’t need and has gone downhill since then.

We brought the children back for a sleepover.H isn’t great at going to sleep but once asleep he tends to stay asleep. They are both still asleep so I am enjoying a cup of tea in bed before the chaos starts! We are taking DGD to her swimming lesson and DD will meet us there.

Wishing everyone the best day possible🎄🎅🏼

karmalady Sun 04-Dec-22 07:16:25

Good morning from s somerset. Oh dear, cold with grey cloud and rain throughout the whole day in the local forecast, not even one white cloud

I need to make a cheery ambience today and to get thoroughly involved in a craft project with some short rebounding sessions, just to get me a little puffed. The large rebounder is always ready in my hall and it has a T bar, so I don`t miss the middle bit

I need to scribble a couple of meal menus for today, otherwise I go for the easy-grab option. Got to be a bit disciplined on my own

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 04-Dec-22 07:09:55

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Church this morning. Later I will finish the Barmbrack I started yesterday - fruit is soaking in tea and whiskey. Dinner tonight will be leg of lamb and steamed chocolate pudding and custard. No doubt OH will be watching the England match tonight. Have a good and peaceful Sunday everyone.

cornergran Sun 04-Dec-22 06:59:59

Morning Mick, morning All from dry, cold corner of Somerset. Apparently three degrees out there while feeling zero.

Our trip out was very enjoyable yesterday, back to the routine today. Admin for me, a response to send to an organisation I’m in the midst of a complaint process with. A reply was received concerning one of my issues - addressed to the wrong person. Suspect a standard letter. Mr C has offered to change the bed and do some ironing, he’s definitely a keeper. Roast chicken later.

Good idea mick. Welcome peli. Not long now grandmattie, you sound as if you need your home back.

Take care everyone. Special thoughts to those with worries of any kind. Hope Sunday is gentle with us all.

MrsTeapot Sun 04-Dec-22 06:54:57

Hi, can I join you all please? Such a friendly group.
It’s cold and crisp here on the West Coast of Scotland, much better than the damp, dreich weather we’ve had for a while.
Today’s plans are splitting logs in the morning, a hoover round with my new cordless Shark and a good walk on the beach with the family after lunch. Sausage casserole for dinner.
A gentle Sunday to you all.
