What food is it? Give it a stir, if suitable.

I worry about food temperature these days!
I never trust microwaves to distribute the heat evenly.

The microwave is fine for heating up. And so much cheaper than the oven.

MissA, if my 90 year old mum could use a microwave twenty + years ago, I am sure you can!xx

MissAdventure Mon 05-Dec-22 16:48:52

Ah yes, that's it.

Well, it looks like the microwave for me, then.

I don't quite trust all this newfangled technology, myself.

Microwave is quickest and cheapest. Cover to keep it moist and prevent splattering.

In the days before microwave my Mum kept my Dads dinner warm by covering his plate with a plate on top of a pan of boiling water.

MissAdventure Mon 05-Dec-22 16:43:38

Ooh err! smile

Definitely the microwave if it's just one plateful. For the rest I have a hostess trolley. blush

I have often used the steaming a plate method and it works well - no drying out.

Microwave every time here; wouldn't dream of putting the oven on to just reheat a plated meal, huge waste of energy.

MissAdventure Mon 05-Dec-22 16:39:58

Oh I'm all in a quandary now!
Worse still, a very hungry quandary.

Georgesgran Mon 05-Dec-22 16:38:24

Did she nearly burn the house down in the process MissA? I suppose that’s much the same as a gentle steaming and I’ve seen TV cooks keep mashed potato warm like that for half an hour or so.
I’ve found the oven dries the meal out and personally would recommend the microwave.

MissAdventure Mon 05-Dec-22 16:13:59

Thank you.

My mum used to do some elaborate thing with my dad's dinner on a plate, on top of a saucepan of water, with a tea teatowel over the top of it all. smile

tanith Mon 05-Dec-22 16:07:28

I would use microwave if just heating it up.

MissAdventure Mon 05-Dec-22 16:05:05

What do you find the best way, please?

I have only done it a couple of times before in the microwave, but is the oven a better bet?
