‘Lost/ Mislaid Scarf.

Feel so cross.

Am setting out soon to watch GC perform in her school musical. School a few minutes walk away, but very chilly, so thought I would wear a cashmere scarf for warmth. Started getting my outfit ready this afternoon.

Went straight to where my modest collection of scarves are kept. No sign of the one I wanted. Searched high and low, no joy.

I don’t have wardrobes full of clothes, and there are only so many places I can look.

Wardrobe, drawers, accessory bags, airing cupboard, obvious places and not so obvious.

When did I last see it? Don’t know, can’t have worn it since last winter.

Have I left it behind somewhere? Don’t think so, have checked it’s not at DS’s home.

Is it in a lost property box? But I didn’t go out much last winter, still Covid alerts.

Have I sent it to charity? No, cannot have done that, I check very thoroughly before I part with stuff.

DH says ‘it must be somewhere’ .

But I feel I have looked everywhere it could be!

It will fret me now, until I find it or accept it’s gone.

Did you check inside coats, etc. including pockets, that are hanging up anywhere?

Yammy Sat 10-Dec-22 18:12:04

The glove box of your car or side pockets and boot.
A handbag you used last year. Inside a hat , I've done that.

Inside shoes/boots, I once found a pair of gloves inside a pair of shoes I didn’t wear often.

Have you looked down the sleeve of your winter coats? I often pull my scarf down the sleeve to make sure it doesn’t get mislaid. Especially when my coat’s taken away in a restaurant.

On a hanger underneath a coat, jacket or cardigan that you might have worn it with? I’ve done this myself.

Great suggestions, thanks.

Trouble is, it’s bigger than a scarf really, more like a small shawl, and too bulky to go in pockets etc, but have checked them anyway.

It’s silly to be bothered, I know, but was a gift from DD and I really like it, cannot believe it isn’t somewhere, but honestly cannot think where else to look.

Will have to ‘keeeeep looking!’

It's always the one you need that's missing.

Try St Anthony, the finder of lost objects:

Dear St Anthony, full of grace
Lead me to its hiding place

Inside a hat? 🤣

I put my pashminas and large scarves in a drawer under the bed because they were too big to go in a drawer with the others.

Calendargirl Sat 10-Dec-22 22:38:11

I have two large cloth bags, one holds woollen hats and gloves, the other my scarves/pashminas.

The latter is where my missing scarf should have been, and don’t know why it isn’t there.

sad

UPDATE!

Found it!

Lay in bed last night going through anywhere else I could look.

Read through this thread again, said a quick prayer to St Anthony (thanks Callistemon).

Went into the ‘coat cupboard’ where DH keeps all his coats and jackets, none of mine. On the floor at the back a cloth bag, with my scarf, another couple of old woollen hats and another old scarf, the last items ones I had forgotten about.

So pleased, should have looked there last night, but it was not where I keep my stuff.

Thanks everyone for helping.

Good result! If I lose something like that, then I wear another one. In my experience the first one will turn up in a fit of pique....

A prayer to St Anthony does seem to work! My Mum always said " Ask St Anthony and don't forget to say please and of course thankyou when you find it" and she was not particularly religious.

I always think St Anthony works. We used to live in a house where things kept disappearing (not that we are a bit of a disorganised family!!!) we decided there was a spirit hiding things and we had to ask politely for them back. And it usually worked!!! They would be found in a place you were sure you'd already looked!

Bodach Sun 11-Dec-22 10:54:09

So glad you found it. That's made my day! If I had a £ for every hour I have spent hunting around the house for mislaid stuff....

DanniRae Sun 11-Dec-22 11:25:00

Glad you found it! When I go searching for something I always seem to find something I was looking for ages ago!

Callistemon21 Sun 11-Dec-22 14:50:11

I'm really pleased you had a result, Calendargirl!

St Anthony has helped me a few times 🙂

Ziplok Sun 11-Dec-22 16:11:37

Glad it turned up Callistemon. At the moment I can’t find a couple of Christmas decorations, so I’ll ask St Anthony very nicely if he can help me find them 😁.

Callistemon21 Sun 11-Dec-22 16:25:47

It was Calendargirl's scarf, Ziplock but yes, St Anthony has helped me more than once.

TillyTrotter Sun 11-Dec-22 17:09:18

Oh good Calendargirl, scarf was not lost.
I put a knitted hat out ready to wear last week and it disappeared.
DH put a fleece jacket on that evening and I asked why it had a bulge in the sleeve. He put his hand in - and pulled out my hat.
