Good morninggMattie and all from the Scottish Borders.
Minus 1° here and snowing overnight.
A car was stuck at the top of the driveway and I didn't offer to help push it
I was busy with the café yesterday and was about to doze when the phone rang and a df invited me for tea. I walked up to hers through a white wonderland. It was very festive and the 6 of us ate, drank, laughed and reminisced.
I really ought to invite people round to mine.
occasionally.
Today I am working in the community shop as other volunteers are either sick or can't get in.
BlueBalou very wintery with you.
Have a good Sunday everyone.

Good Morning grandMattie and everyone from Hull where it doesn’t look like we even have a frost. But I think I can see black ice on our garden path.

Harrigran I’m really hoping your area is ok weatherwise for next Sunday as we are heading up to Stanley to visit friends.

We had a lovely afternoon with the DC and DGC.
Today we are hoping to to go the Christmas market in Beverley. We will park at Mums and walk in. We need to find gifts for our friends for next Sunday to take with us.
Son is dropping GS off with us this morning for a couple of hours so he can go and buy gifts for his girlfriend.

Have a lovely day with cosy family visits and delicious Sunday lunches and Christmas preparation. Special thoughts to those suffering illness and family stress. 🌻🎄

Good morning from a sunny Lanzarote.
Home today and it doesn’t look promising weather wise if LLFL has snow then we are sure to have it (we live fairly close I would think).
Hopefully Bournemouth Airport will be clear and that the roads up to Oxford are also ok. I really, really don’t want to land somewhere else then have to go back to Bournemouth for the car (again).
We had this debate just before MrOops booked the holiday and he said “when does it ever snow in December” Ha! I would say “I told you so” but as he’s driving…….
Anyway, we are in a lovely Hotel until lunchtime and it doesnt help anyone if I start to fret.

Have a good day everyone and please take care and stay warm.

Good morning all. Dull & grey here in Sefton. No snow, no frost,
No plans for today just the papers & a bit of pottering. Babysitting GDG2 this evening.
Take care out there.

Good morning from Durham – I was up before dawn and out stocking up the bird table - it was very cold. Nothing planned today, so I have no excuse not to wrap the last of my presents and get everything sorted out for the various recipients.
DD2 was supposed to travel by train from Newcastle to Edinburgh tomorrow to meet the team in her new role. I told her that the rail strike would prevent that and I’m quite concerned that she has been told to drive up - not that she isn’t a competent driver, but I am worried about the weather.
Luckily, another member of her team is going and they will travel together. It’s very difficult for me, because I know her foot is far from 100%, but being disabled she is always anxious to prove herself. I’m sure things could have been left ‘til after Christmas.
More tea for now, then I’ll shower and dress.
Hope everyone has a decent day. Stay warm. X

Good morning everyone from bleak foggy Carlisle, -5C at 8am and due to be even colder tonight.
I hope Mick is having a good time in spite of the weather.

Mr Blackbird seems to have taken up all day residence in my garden which seems to be the only one which isn't a green desert of grass. He's been feeding on my crabapples and pyracantha berries but they're just about finished. Against my usual practice (not wanting to encourage rats) I put some moistened bread out for him and bought some apples. He's been stuffing himself all day with little breaks to let it all go down before he starts again! Poor birds....

I'm staying firmly in today. I have the weekend papers and my book and am not short of all sorts of amusements...
I watched a rather strange film last night based on the imagined life and death of Otzi the iceman. The sparse dialogue was in ancient Rhaetic (allegedly, how does anyone know it these days after 5000 years?) with no subtitles. Outside here it was freezing cold and heavily frosted, on the screen it was freezing cold and mostly snowing! Not sure it was the best choice in the circumstances, I watched it wrapped in my fleece throw...interesting though.

Do have a pleasant day all of you.

Good morning from a very cold and foggy North Wales.

We are on grandparent duty until Tuesday evening😳

Today we are taking DGD to her swimming lesson this morning and then this afternoon she is dancing with her dancing school at the Christmas market.

I have had to write an itinerary for the next couple of days with notes as to which uniform/clothes are to be worn.I am not sure life was this complicated when my girls were children.

Have the best day possible everyone.🎅🏼🎄

Good morning everyone. Thank you for opening up GrandMattie, I hope Mick is having a good time. It’s light cloud in this corner of Lancashire, currently -1°C. The small amount of snow we had yesterday has frozen and it looks icy outside. I can hear car tyres crunching across the bridge, no skids or bangs so far! The sharp bend just before the bridge entrance has caught out many an unwary motorist.

You must be quite frazzled GrandMattie, not long to go now. It was a wonderful thing you did, taking DL into your home and looking after her.

Wyllow I was glad to read yesterday that the divorce papers are signed and all is proceeding.

Marydoll I’m relieved that you eventually received your heart meds. I hope you take it easy today and no heavy lifting.

Grandmabatty sounds like a wonderful time was had, Waverley Steps are not far the faint hearted!

My younger self loved nothing more than a long walk on a snowy day, the world feeling so still and magical. I’m feeling rather wistful at the moment, I need to give my head a good wobble.

It’s lovely to read of days out and family gatherings, enjoy your day all 🦩🦩

MawtheMerrier Sun 11-Dec-22 09:05:00

Good morning all from underneath (my part of) the duvet.
Madam hopped up on the bed after I let her out for a lightning wee in the garden early this morning and I haven’t the ❤️ to kick her off.
Lovely reading your posts today, they have really cheered me up, having made the mistake of reading the online paper first which is pretty dire.
I think I have bought all my presents, posted my cards (apart for people inconsiderate enough to have moved and only just said so - well tough!) so I might just do the wrapping today. I am so hamfisted that I don’t enjoy it so I have gone for an easy alternative which also ticks the environmentally friendly box.
That consists of a twist or layer of red tissue paper then a reusable cloth bag, tied up with a bow and a card. Easy peasy.
The famous MLME-Maw Law of Minimum Effort!
Safe travels if you are venturing out and a pleasant day to all. 🎄

Jaxjacky Sun 11-Dec-22 09:22:52

I’ve just seen we’re forecast heavy snow this afternoon SunshineSally. Hope Bournemouth stays clear Oops.

Urmstongran Sun 11-Dec-22 09:30:40

Here’s Matt.

I’m so late, you’ve all been & gone! I woke then went back so sleep and didn’t wake till 9am. Most unlike me. Ah well.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. No snow or frost today ut it does look cold out. I’m making the SOAP dish with cabbage later but as last Sunday, will pick my stepfather up and go to a different watering hole first. We’ve all said is a nice change to visit old haunts before we eat.

Right, I’m going to settle down now and read 35 posts hoping there’s no bad news in them. Enjoy your Sunday folk. x

Wyllow3 Sun 11-Dec-22 09:32:23

Might have to change plans...had another little sleep and now its light it's quite a deep carpet of snow....I am quite high up.

luluaugust Sun 11-Dec-22 09:33:57

Good morning gM from a very frosty W Kent. Youngest daughters wedding anniversary today so we have two big GC coming to us for lunch. This has only just been decided so they will be having spaghetti bol whilst we have the planned chops, oh dear. So not sure what will happen today now.
Very best wishes to all and I hope you can keep warm.

Greyduster Sun 11-Dec-22 09:38:13

Good morning from South Yorkshire where I am reliably informed by DS, who has just brought me coffee and biscuits, that we have a covering of snow. Bang goes my crutch walk today then☹️. He cooked a nice dinner last night and we watched England’s abysmal performance. Today I will definitely write some cards (she said). I was awake at two o’clock listening to Christmas music, but I did actually manage to sleep after that, so might feel half human today.
Have a good Sunday, one and all.

Greyduster Sun 11-Dec-22 09:41:16

Get yer shovel out Wyllow. I’ll join you shortly😁!

Wyllow3 Sun 11-Dec-22 09:46:11

I would if I could get to you! smile

BlueSapphire Sun 11-Dec-22 09:46:15

Good morning everyone from a very frosty Northampton, -2° outside. No sun today, so it is looking very cold out.

In for most of the day, but then an early meal, as I head off out this evening to see elder DGD dancing in her eighth annual professional pantomime, Snow White this year. Now 15, she has been in one every year since she was 8. There will be at least one very proud grandma in the audience!

Take care all those due to be out and about today. Hope Mick is having a good time.

Taichinan Sun 11-Dec-22 10:11:22

Good morning all. I'm at DD's home today as we're meeting DS1 in Stirling later for a festive meal and present handover. I'll stay here again tonight as I have an appointment in Perth tomorrow.
The whole of Britain seems to be swathed in snow, judging by photos and reports. It's a nice "warm" -1°C here with a light covering of snow, +1°C back home on the east coast and +3°C (!!) on the west coast where DS is travelling from. Variety is the spice of life!
I had a productive shopping day yesterday but as usual my stamina gave out before I was ready! More of the same is required tomorrow.
Loving reading about all your festive activities - no wonder January always feels a dull drear month!
The Waverley Steps would be a no-no for me these days Grandmabatty - well done you! But I bet Edinburgh is looking lovely.
Dancing DGD is on her monthly 'intensive' with Scottish Youth Dance in Paisley this weekend, which sheq says is - er - intensive! After a dance show last week and another (featuring her own choreography) next week she is more than ready for her holidays.
I hope everyone enjoys their own special Today today and above all stay cosy x

Gwenisgreat1 Sun 11-Dec-22 10:31:07

Good morning all from freezing HARROGATE
I’m taking this quick window to post! No have not read any posts yet. After a bad snottery night I slept in, have had breakfast and got the slow cooker going with a stew for tonight. I’m supposed to be using uptiny potatoes, which make my hands cramp while preparing. Pity I polished off the red wine last night - it would have been lovely in the stew!
Shall see if I can watch the children’s nativity on- line. My DD sent me the clip of DGS (with DownSyndrome) enthusiastically playing a Roman Soldier in his nativity?
Hope to get back and read your posts when I’ve finished the small potatoes!
Have the best day possible folks

BlueSapphire Sun 11-Dec-22 10:31:22

It's now snowing in Northampton!

Kalu Sun 11-Dec-22 10:33:47

Good morning all from Glasgow where we have a lighter frost, very slightly warmer and sunshine.

We had a surprise visit from DD1 and 3 of her cousins yesterday. A few of the cousins had been out to dinner the night before, Dd mentioned her plan for yesterday was to help me arrange outdoor fairy lights. Eight willing hands arrived to take on the task, I supervised and supplied hot chocolate and mince pies. My main job was detangling Peli. 😂 Lots of blethering and laughs, behaving like the children I remember them being, now all in their forties and parents themselves. It was a wonderful day having the ‘children’ around again.

My gift wrapping Maw involves tying gifts off from my stash of beautiful VV Rouleaux ribbons I bought in the 80s. A standing joke at ours is everyone hands back the ribbon! Too blooming expensive to bin.
I couldn’t possibly go the Fleshmans Close route nowadays GrandmaBatty. I am wincing at the thought of it even.
Watching DGC perform on stage was always an emotional event and of course, ours were always the star of the show. Worth every minute of sitting through on wooden numb bumming chairs.

Best wishes for a pleasant and hopefully good day to all.

aggie Sun 11-Dec-22 11:00:18

Good morning from a frosty Co Armagh, don’t think it has thawed all week
My sister is touring New Zealand and posting sunny photographs on Flikr ! She was commenting on mine at the same time as I was posting remarks on hers , it’s a small world

MawtheMerrier Sun 11-Dec-22 11:07:05

But do we believe in train drivers Urmstongran ?
With everything uncertain and threatened by weather, postal strikes, ambulance and nurse strikes, rail strikes, turkey shortages - it almost makes that first lockdown Christmas bearable - at least we knew where we were then (stuffed)

Megs36 Sun 11-Dec-22 11:07:23

Good morning all, Anyone watchCasualty on BBC last night, pretty scary I thought but spot on.
Tuesday is my birthday, I think I am going out to lunch with family 😻depending on weather I guess. hate this weather,. 🌨🌨Third of way through cancer treatment, targeted therapy, one tablet a day, and some side effects seem to be manifesting themselves (in between sleeping!) so hope fairly normal for birthday.
Cheers everyone, keep safe and warm. xx
Cheers all and try to keep warm and safe.

Blossoming Sun 11-Dec-22 11:14:36

Good to hear from you Megs, hope the side effects are not too bad and you can enjoy your forthcoming birthday x
