Long story short, so many deliveries for Christmas at the mo. I simply assume they are as I ordered so open them ready to gift wrap. Simple, or so I thought .......
DH abroad until the 23rd. and never, ever in the last 40 odd years has he bought any presents for family etc. , my job, so happily opened the last arrival. Oh shit, it is obviously his gift to me !! Answers on a postcard please !

Just hope it isn't for his lover and not meant for you at all! tchgrin

I roflmao as it was just what I was thinking, especially after 40 years of not buying! 🤣
Either that or for someone else in the family, or a friend.
I do hope it is for Hazel93,tho!!

Good for him! I give to give to those I care about, not just to receive

It's a lot simpler to just come clean. Blaming other people isn't good for you - or others...... If you're thrilled by the care his considerate choice shows, say so and enjoy it together.

Goingtobeagranny Mon 12-Dec-22 16:27:48

I would just come clean and show how excited you are, tell him you can’t wait for Christmas so you can open it xx

The only thing you can do is tell him, at least it will be over the phone so you won't see his disappointment.

Definitely not. If you can't make it look like something Amazon wrapped - can't say I ever noticed anything special about their wrapping, discard the outer cardboard or paper and plonk it into the kind you buy at any post-office. Scrawl "Re-wrapped by carrier" on it in something that does not look like your handwriting.

Then go along the "damaged in transit route" already suggested.

If you can manage to destroy the address on the original parcel do so.

Then you can always say, the driver insisted this was for us, but I wasn't sure. Didn't open it, as I thought you might have bought it to surprise me.

Loved the laughs,thanks,Merry Christmas

Order an identical one and when it arrives don't open it. Swap it for the opened one and return the one you opened.

JaneR185 Mon 12-Dec-22 15:19:26

Tell him, be apologetic but delighted, really delighted. You might get a surprise present as well. wink

Just passed my mind too…what if it isn’t for you…….

Duvetdiva Mon 12-Dec-22 13:56:45

I’d tell him now then you can enjoy the clear skies 🌌 if you sound really thrilled and excited on the phone he’ll be happy. Plus he then might get you the Hotel Chocolats for Christmas!! Winner winner Christmas Dinner!

he's a man - he wont notice if you re-wrap the amazon parcel. Good luck!!

Rosiestocks Mon 12-Dec-22 12:06:09

I'm with Normandygirl. My DH certainly wouldn't notice the details of an Amazon parcel, or anyone else's. As long as it looked like an unopened parcel he wouldn't give it a thought; but then he doesn't order much (he gets DS2 to do if for him). Good luck whatever you do.

Cossy Mon 12-Dec-22 12:04:14

I’d re-wrap as suggested with lots of tape, fib a bit and say damaged in transit and then enjoy it n Xmas day !!

JLR1220 Mon 12-Dec-22 12:04:01

Tell him what happened. Maybe he bought it for himself.

hazel93 Mon 12-Dec-22 11:51:21

Well, I didn't look , simply assumed it would be something I had ordered. The package was obviously long and narrow but , and this is so naff, had ordered a couple of those rattan LED reindeers for outside , the stag arrived without his antlers so once mailed to say missing part on its way I simply thought that was it !
Antlers arrived later same day !

Honesty is the best option. Silly thing to lie about.

oldeman Mon 12-Dec-22 11:42:41

Just wrap it back up and pretend you didn't open it. If you don't like what he bought you, change the label to someone elses name so he feels guilty and buys you something else LOL.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE.

Mouse Mon 12-Dec-22 11:33:21

I recently spoiled a planned surprise for me. I mentioned a book I really wanted to my daughter. Then it popped up in my feed with £5 off. Of course I bought it. My daughter is very cross as she had intended to surprise me with it for Christmas. I honestly never gave it a thought.

Bea0802 Mon 12-Dec-22 11:32:05

Amazon gift wrap if you check a box. Gift wrap it and say to him that as it didn't have a tag wondered who it was for? So didn't want to undo the wrapping in case he knew. Very innocently of course.

GrammarGrandma Mon 12-Dec-22 11:24:02

Whose name was on the parcel, his or yours?

Gingster Mon 12-Dec-22 11:23:55

Of course you would open it, as you’re the only one who orders presents. Silly him to have it delivered to your home

Notyetagran46 Mon 12-Dec-22 11:23:29

My husband and sons would have prewarned me.
As suggested, rewrap it and look surprised when you open it.
I’m sure he won’t know you’ve already seen it.
