Sorry Oops you’re coming home, not going! Thermals on then, note to self, wake up before posting 🥱
Hope the plumber arrives and performs magic Madeleine
Welcome Shel

Kalu Mon 12-Dec-22 07:54:29

A warm welcome Shel69. You really have your hands full at the moment. Sorry to hear your DH has had a stroke, good news though he is doing well and I hope he is back home with you in January.

brook2704 Mon 12-Dec-22 07:56:48

Good morning everyone from a very cold Inverness, weather app says -7º brrrrr
Hope you have a good Turkey and Tinsel trip away mick - enjoy!
At last gMattie you’ll have your house back, enjoy the space and the peace. Hope your DL can settle in well to her new home, I’m sure she’ll miss your company and support
Today DH will be scraping the car and warming it up before we go out, he’ll be going to work and I’ll be going to the gym to keep warm. We should really put the car in the garage overnight, I don’t know why we don’t as there’s room if we just move a few things across to the other side. Just habit I guess
Oops hope you get home today - safe travels
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Kalu Mon 12-Dec-22 08:01:23

Marydoll, I don’t believe for a minute you will miss a chance to rummage around in TKMaxx. 😂 bon appétit and be very careful on icy pavements. Best wishes to your DS and DiL, such a lovely time for them…..and you.

Pittcity Mon 12-Dec-22 08:01:32

Good morning from snowy Colchester. No plan to venture out today.
Love to all 🦩 x

Taichinan Mon 12-Dec-22 08:10:40

Good morning Mick and all from another place with -6°C. I'm still at DD's but going home via more shopping in Perth today - if I can break into my car! When I went out yesterday evening to move it out of the driveway to let DGD in with hers I had to use warm water to open the door. It's been even more exposed overnight .......
How wonderful that you get your house back to yourself today grandmattie - and a well-deserved lunch to boot! Mick enjoy your week away after your rather eventful weekend. What a wonderful photo of the deer Kalu - Glencoe is one if my favourite places. What a relief momb! But I'm sure it was an amazing experience for your son.
We had a lovely family meal out yesterday for our pre-Christmas present swap at a beautiful restaurant in Stirling. I could get used to that!
Now to get today in motion and head back to home on the coast and a balmier -1°! Stay safe and warm everyone x

BlueSapphire Mon 12-Dec-22 08:13:53

My goodness, what a lot of 'busyness' going on today!

Good morning from a chilly Northampton, -1° this morning. We have had a light sprinkling of snow overnight. Giving yoga a miss this morning as I am going out for our 'Knit and Natter' lunch, and I thought it would be too much of a rush. Will be good not to have to cook tonight - it will yesterday's leftovers, chicken sandwiches probably.

I very much enjoyed yesterday's trip to the theatre to see elder DGD in panto. Felt so proud to see her on the stage. This is her eighth year and she just loves it; the panto finishes its run on the 24th, so she will be busy until then. The other star performers were Ashleigh and her dog, not Pudsey, but her new dog Sully - he was gorgeous, so well behaved and did everything asked if him. Ashleigh and Pudsey won Britain's got Talent a few years ago.

Hope you have an uneventful journey today Mick. And that everything goes to plan today, grandMattie and that you get your house back!

Stay warm everyone. And welcome to our new posters this morning.

grandMattie Mon 12-Dec-22 08:15:22

kitty, my plan is to move, but I need to get an available flat -which hasn’t materialised yet. Probably something suitable will come up in the new year.

Beechnut Mon 12-Dec-22 08:19:25

Good morning everyone from Severnside. No snow or frost.

I’m flummoxed as I can’t find my cc statement. I don’t actually need it to pay but I do want to know where I’ve put it 😩. I’ve got to order my prescription and tidy up today.

I hope all goes better for you on todays trip Mick
Mattie 💐

Have a good day all 🎄🦩

GrannyGravy13 Mon 12-Dec-22 08:25:47

Morning Mick and all

Enjoy your trip up to Scarborough Mick pack your thermals.

It’s not meant to get much above 0° here in S E Essex today, the road outside looks clear now, the garden is still under snow. The road was covered in snow and it continued to settle till bedtime, 8pm last night when we cadged a lift home from DS4’s from DiL’s Dad (we had walked down before it started snowing) The dogs and GC and cousins had a mad hour in the snow before we left, it was the puppy’s first experience of the white stuff and she loved it.

We have The Imp first thing whilst DD goes into the 7yr olds class for a Christmas Craft Morning, then I should be going to the gym, will see what the weather is doing before I decide.

Keep warm folks, no impromptu skating antics folks 🙋‍♀️🎄🤶🎅🏻🥶❄️☃️⛄️

Gala Mon 12-Dec-22 08:27:27

Good morning all. What a lot of posts already. I will have to read them later. It's a misty, murky, freezing, frosty morning here in Sefton. -4 according to the BBC weather report. An eventful weekend Mick. 🤞for an enjoyable & 'uneventful' trip to Scarborough.
Singing this morning. Carols or 'Christmas songs' I wonder? I hope enough of our small group manage to make it. It looks treacherous underfoot.
Keep warm & take care if you are venturing out into these cold & frosty mornings.🎵

dustyangel Mon 12-Dec-22 08:29:17

Good Morning everyone, I will catch up properly with you all later but as we’ve had our own mini crisis and I’m wide awake, I thought I’d greet the day with you all.
We’ve had DD1 and SIL staying over for a long weekend which has been lovely. DH was going to drive them to the airport this morning but I was told firmly last night, “We’ll say goodbye now, so don’t get up, it’ll be a rush otherwise.”, The just heard that their flight to Heathrow has been cancelled! No explanations at all yet.
Mattie I hope everything goes smoothly today for you and indeed your DL as well. I think it might feel a bit flat and strange for a bit.

Urmstongran Mon 12-Dec-22 08:31:08

No Matt = Monday.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s frosty out. I’m off to the GP surgery in an hour for my routine monthly weigh in and prescription. This afternoon we plan to walk over to the independent florist up the road to buy a Christmas tree for the verandah. They net it up and we walk home with it. Very eco-aware! It’s only 3 blocks mind.

Glad you’re getting your home back today grandMattie you’ll relish doing whatever you please again.

Nannagarra Mon 12-Dec-22 08:33:50

Good morning from icy Sefton.
By gum, you’re all getting earlier and earlier! I’ve skimmed the first couple of posts so can shout “Yay!” to Mattie and “Wow!” to Kalu. Mick, you sound as if you’re having a great time. Brilliant.
Mr. Busy is due very soon; the table tennis bats have arrived so much fun will be had. I have a Roger la Borde advent calendar and interlocking paper chain kit for Miss. Chatterbox.
Other than that, general foutering in the warmth is our plan of action. Chicken curry in the slow cooker seems appropriate.
Whatever you intend to do, may you all find a reason to smile.

Gingster Mon 12-Dec-22 08:38:51

Good morning all and we have snow and ice here up the road from you Sar 😳.

I’m supposed to be going for my Chimes group Christmas gathering but teacher has just messaged to say shall we cancel. I’m not sorry as I hate driving in these conditions,

Yesterday we had coffee at db and SIL’s. They have a lot of land and it was like a winter wonderland with the frost. Have you noticed all the iced spiders webs. So pretty.

DS1 is starting a new job today and ds2 is coming home from Center Parcs. I hope their journeys are safe.

Our outside lights stopped working on Saturday and after lots of fiddling we gave up. When we got back from db’s , the lights were down and another set put up. The Christmas fairy had been (DS1) . Such a lovely chap!

We’ll GM the day has arrived. We’ll done you! What an amazing friend you are. Enjoy your own space and breathe! 👏👏.

Mick enjoy your break away, lovely to just sit on a coach without the worry of driving. Relax!

Ash safe journey to olddudders and look after yourself.

Madeleine lovely to hear all your news and I pray your plumber fixes the hot water soon. 🙏. Miserable for you.

Shel warm welcome to you. You have a lot in your plate at the moment. Nice to hear your dh is recovering well though. Take care .

Marydoll enjoy your lunch.

I’ll walk the dog and put my grippers on my shoes. They work very well.

Take care and keep warm. No accidents ….please! ❤️

Wyllow3 Mon 12-Dec-22 09:02:22

Good Morning from a white covered S Yorks. Had a bit more snow in the night: the roads icy so not sure will drive but hate to miss my gym..

I also slept the night through, wonder fo wonders.

Welcome to GN Shel69 and GM so very glad this day has come at last!. Mick enjoy Scarborough and hope for less transport hitches. madeleine I hope your plumber comes. Oh dear dustyangel hope another flight comes along soon.

Take care poorlies or N and D poorlies, and enjoy family all.

Stuck with a C Mas tree outside which I can’t manage to bring in on my own - maybe the cleaner on Thursday can help, a two woman job.

aggie Mon 12-Dec-22 09:02:32

Good morning from a very frosty Co Armagh, minus 4 just now
Out later to stock up , then hunker down with my crochet
Take care and keep warm

SunshineSally Mon 12-Dec-22 09:02:39

Good morning everyone from a slightly warmer south Hants at -2.

Yesterday I finally got my long (nearly waist length) hair cut off - it’s now VERY short. The last time it had been cut was pre the first lockdown! It was so funny - the hairdresser kept saying ‘But dahling are you sure?’ Anyway - all done and I love it! DH says I look years younger …. tho when I woke up this morning he looked at me and said ‘I should ask for my money back!’ 😂

Today I’ll be wrapping presents … DH will hopefully crack on with sorting underlay and carpet for spare room.

Mick glad you had a nice time despite the travelling. Enjoy your tinsel and Turkey time away.
grandMattie So happy to read that today’s the day you get your home back - although it’ll probably feel more like home once DL’s bed has been removed! Enjoy your lunch x
madeleine keeping everything crossed that your plumber is able to save the day (and the contents of your purse!).
Aw Marydoll isn’t it wonderful seeing the joy on our ACs faces when they’re expecting their own child 🥰.

I haven’t read all the posts yet - keep getting interrupted!
Have the best day possible everyone - thoughts to those with worries and ill-health🦩🦩🦩
Hugs and 💐 for you all x

EkwaNimitee Mon 12-Dec-22 09:06:06

Good morning Mick and everyone from cloudy Carlisle where it was -4C at 8am. It didn't get above freezing yesterday. I just stayed in and read.
Today is housework and laundry Monday. It seems to come round twice a week, as does Tuesday, Wednesday etc...
At this rate it will soon be spring, hooray! My crocuses are well up already.
I hope all goes well for you and your DL grandMattie, you must be looking forward to a quiet evening to yourself.

Safe journeys to all making them and a good day to all.

And welcome Shel69

SunshineSally Mon 12-Dec-22 09:12:59

Welcome Shel69 - sorry to read your DH had a stroke but good that he’s making good progress and should be home next month. I hope the roads aren’t icy - scary even thinking about black ice, let alone having to drive in it! Make sure you’re kind to yourself - you deserve it x 💐💐

ShazzaKanazza Mon 12-Dec-22 09:19:35

Hi again. It looks like a winter picture postcard out. No snow but the heaviest of frosts.

BlueSapphire your post about your GD reminded me of when my daughter was in Snow White in Hull. She understudied Snow White with the Grumbleweeds and at the end as it was her birthday they asked me and DH to stand up as her proud parents. Such a moment. They presented her with a cake onstage.

Welcome Shel and posters we haven’t heard from for a while. Shel I’m sorry your DH is in hospital but wishing for his continued recovery. Have a gentle Christmas surrounded by your family.

dustyangel I hope your family get a replacement flight gosh I wish I was in the Algarve with you it’s freezing here.

Nannagarra you’ve given me an idea about paperchains for the grandchildren to do when they are here a week on Tuesday. We are doing some Christmas crafts and I’m hoping GS will join in. GD1 will be very up for it.
Speak soon🌻

Greyduster Mon 12-Dec-22 09:30:14

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. I slept last night. ALL NIGHT, for the first time in two weeks. I’m told the weather in this bit of South Yorkshire is frosty but we have had no further snow. I hope it thaws a bit this afternoon as I need to get outside and walk. DS did a shop yesterday and has planned his menus for this week. He gave me the hard stare when I said I didn’t like courgettes, but it’s all looking very promising! He and DD will have fed me very well by the time I’m fit to let them off the leash and then it will be back to the Pot Luck dining facility on the good ship Duster Towers😁! Today I will definitely write Christmas cards!
Shel69 welcome. You live in a lovely part of Ireland.
MOMB I hope your DS will be winging his way safely back for Christmas after what I’m sure was a memorable trip. I’d like to be a fly on the wall to see his photos!
Have the best day you can folks.

annsixty Mon 12-Dec-22 09:41:57

Good morning all from a freezing Stockport.
I have just popped in to say that yesterday I read that Royal Mail have forwarded the date for second class postings to today for delivery by Christmas.
I haven’t confirmation of that but quickly wrote my few cards and my GD has taken them to post.

Greyduster Mon 12-Dec-22 09:56:49

Thanks annsixty. That’s me stymied then!

luluaugust Mon 12-Dec-22 09:58:29

Good morning from a snowy W Kent. All plans off today so I think I will complete the parcel packing. A rare day with two of the GC yesterday, enjoyed catching up with their news.
gM you got there hope the day goes well.
Best wishes to all
