My grandson was also very excited, but it was his 2nd most best day ever as he was hedging his bets as an even better day might come along. It did make me laugh.

My teenage son was ecstatic when he passed his driving test at the third attempt. He jumped in the air, clicking his heels together. "Mum, I feel fantastic. It's better than sex ... Not that I've had that ..."

I took my nine year old DGD to see Joseph a few months ago. She loved it, and skipped all the way home. She announced that it was the best night of her life - even better than her wedding night!!

This is a favourite family picture of our granddaughter taken quite a few years ago.

What a magical post. Isn't it absolutely wonderful that children can be made happy so easily?

My three year old grand daughter when shown her snowman was still standing 'well of course Mummy, he wouldn't fly away without me'

Took my 12 year old gg to a weaving course at the Handweaver's Studio (London) three years ago - she had been knitting and crocheting for a few years and loved the feel of wool. Walking around the studio with its walls full of wools and cottons of very type and colour imaginable she said "grandma, I've been dreaming about this place since I was born - this is the best day of my life" - naturally, I got that lump in my throat!

On the other hand, sad we took granddaughter to the Cotswold Wildlife Park a couple of years ago. It didn’t just rain heavily, the downpour was of Biblical proportions. We wouldn’t have been surprised to see an Ark floating by. Anyway, little granddaughter stomped her foot and shouted, ‘this is the worst day ever!

Apparently "Rudolph's Rock Out" will be the best day of some of our GGC's lives. Sounds more than a bit noisy to me. confused

That's lovely!

I found my teenage diary in a box in the loft (one of those ones with a little lock). I wrote it the year I was 15, and I had put "This is the best day of my life" 13 times in that year!

The day after years of studying Dh arrived home after a very long journey to say he had passed membership exams for his Royal College.
No more nights sitting on my own, no more wondering about the future and careers. Over 45 years ago and I can still remember squealing which I rarely do with excitement for him.

When our youngest child was 6 we were on a road trip and spent a few days in Interlaken, the older children and my husband took the train up the Jungfrau then hiked and had a dog sleigh ride.

Poor boy was too young to go, he was stuck with me and in a filthy mood as the hotel didn’t have a pool and his siblings were on an adventure.

I set off with angry child and swimming gear and stumbled upon an outdoor public pool with a slide, we paid our entrance and got our sun beds, free sun cream and waitress service by the flume.

We had the whole place to ourselves for 4 hours, he had a ball!

When we met up with the rest of the family and they regaled us with all their stories, child number 3 said, “I don’t care what you did, I have had the best day of my life”

I remember then thinking I need to remember these days and treasure those memories.

I feel very blessed.

Delightful! ♥️

Oh how lovely! If only we could bottle that simple joy and have the odd cupful in our later years!

ShazzaKanazza Mon 12-Dec-22 09:24:13
