An early ‘Evening All’.

We’ve had a busy but productive day. My stepfather felt up to coming with us for his M&S groceries this morning, a good sign I thought. District nurse visit is sorted too. I have just been poured a glass of merlot. Ahh, nice! Himself won’t drink in case he’s ‘on call’. No wonder I’m happy I married him Dear Reader.

Today I went swimming for the first time in years! Had to buy a new swimsuit as I gave my others to Minibaggs and that's the last I'll ever see of them, especially as she really likes them 🧐. So I bought myself a so-called rash guard one piece dive skin suit. That's not me in the pic though my hair is that long.

How many young women like their old mothers' swimsuits? I must have good taste! 😁

NannyTopsy I started taking vit D recently and hope it will make me less tired, a friend of mine swears by it so we shall see. Never ending rain means some poor souls will be flooded again this year I guess, for the rest of us just downright depressing isn’t it?

I’ve had a lazy day today so far but just about to do a load of baking for family, so off I go.Got bags of walnuts and currants to use up.

Good afternoon all kitcheners, I’m home now after a busy day at the gym and then just across the road to the dentist. I’ve got one tooth which is really sensitive, the very kind dentist checked it all out including an X-ray but couldn’t really find any problem. Anyhow she painted some sort of sealant on it and prescribed some stronger sensitive toothpaste so I hope that helps, time will tell
I’m not doing much for the rest of the day, I’ve got a quick and easy Charlie Bigham curry for later so looking forward to that. I wish I was better at cooking from scratch but I’m not - note to myself, must try harder!

Well you have been busy. I hope everyone is recovering.
I still have 3 baskets of ironing looking at me and more washing to do.
I have diagnosed myself with low vitamin D. It was too hot to sit outside for most of the summer. It has hardly stopped raining since. We have got out of the habit of taking our vitamin tablets. Very tired all the time, muscle cramps in my hands. So tonight we start on the tablets!

It’s been quite a day for most of you. A very quiet one here, I’m getting to like this sense of life passing me by.

Good evening everyone. I don't often contribute to Soops lovely thread but I do read it every day and smile, grimace and commiserate with you all.
I'm on my own this evening as DH has gone to a meeting at the Rugby club and won't be home til about 9'sh.
He saw a plastic surgeon this morning and hopefully will have two basal cell carcinomas removed within the next couple of months. One may need a skin graft. He is very matter of fact about it all.
My fingers are crossed for your DSF Urmstongran what a lovely man he sounds.

Must be sprain time, my daughter spent time with Imogen in minor injuries today, badly sprained finger and chipped bone, I was on standby for grandson’s school pick up.
I’ve everything crossed Urms as I said to you in a pm,
I’ve had 3 nasal cauterisations, due another in a few weeks, it’s very unnerving and I hate the bleeds, cauterisation is a doddle, another regional difference in treatment.
You must be whacked out Grandmabatty enjoy your meal and wine.
Oh dear brook I’ve been there, ketchup touching the food, not in a separate pool comes to mind!

Grandmabatty your post gave me a good chuckle! Hats off to you dear lady with 2 smalls. Seriously. I bet you have to have eyes in the back of your head! I hope your cosy now with your curry dinner - well deserved I say.

My stepfather is fine. 🤞 that said, he never has nosebleeds during the day anyway. So tonight is the Real Test. I’ve just rung him. We speak every morning (we take turns) but I just thought I’d ring him for an extra chat to see how he was doing. All’s well. He’d eaten a favourite M&S ready meal. Said he’s off to bed at 8pm but he’d sat an enjoyed the snooker this afternoon.

Himself is out, Big Coat On, having taken the Boy Wonder to his football practice. It’s only round the corner at Urmston Grammar. I’ve got baked potatoes in the oven and will just fry the steak (we share one, times is ‘ard - joke - it’s enough) and onion as he comes into our cosy nook. All I need to do now is tie a pretty pink ribbon in my hair to welcome him home.

Oh dear Brook. I know that 'my meal is ruined' attitude very well. Commiserations. Chicken and peanut curry is bubbling away, as is the rice. The house is back to normal although I'll leave the hoovering til tomorrow as my eyesight isn't brilliant. Brook a large glass of something nice for you. I'm having one!

Grandmabatty I know that tired feeling very well. Sounds like you’ve had a full on exhausting day. I bet you wouldn’t change it for the world though! Ive also had the two DGC here all day - one reasonably well behaved 9 year old and the younger one a right little madam. I made the dreadful mistake of cutting her jacket potato into quarters rather than just in half … well you should have heard the chaos that caused! I think she’s getting a talking to from her mum tonight

That’s a very long time without a signal soop I don’t know how I would manage, it must be really frustrating. I hope the weather isn’t too bad next week, I’ve just checked our forecast too , it’s looking cold, snowy and windy 🥶

Evening Kitcheners. I am pooped. Looking after two wee whirlwinds is hard work when you're on your own and getting on a bit. The three of us survived. I adore both boys and they are very different. Dgs1 never stops moving and talking. We had a number of deep conversations today. Where was my dad? Why was he in heaven? Do dogs go to heaven too? He helped me sweep leaves, check the pots for signs of life(there were) played with his sandpit stuff. Inside we made cakes, he painted his garden dinosaur and played with playdough, as well as creating mayhem in the living room and the hall. The baby, having been constipated for days, decided today was a good day to get rid of it all. Five very full and disgusting nappies. In between he was crawling after his big brother and screaming. Thank goodness next door are deaf. I've dropped them off and begun to clear up the chaos before chicken curry. Soop communication is vital and it's grim that you are out of the loop. Kitty your poor daughter. A sprain is so painful too. Yiayia Boris is a gorgeous dog.

Letters written and taken to the post box. It is nigh impossible to adequately express one's feelings when writing to a bereaved person, especially a close member of the family.

I'm about to relax with a freshly brewed cup of tea. Ironing all cleared and put away. I offered to paint a portrait of a pal's deceased cat over Christmas. I am wondering whether or not it was a good idea. I haven't touched the paints for a very long time. It will take a few afternoons of practice before I feel confident enough to continue.

Apparently dire weather is forecast for next week. A thunder clap knocked out the computer yesterday. My cellphone remains without a signal (due to the mast being out of action for three months). O2, get a move on. We OAP's ( living near Clachan in Kintyre) need to be able to communicate.

Anyways, you lovely lot help to keep me sane. So, thank you, dear Kitcheners. Until tomorrow.

Blimey kittylester! And to Urms - I hope you’ve had a good day. Our gardener has been here since 1 pm pruning the rose (Madame Alfred) on our back wall. It’s nearly 30 years old and we planted it not after we moved in. Gardener reckons it’s the oldest rose she’s ever worked on. Still clearing out younger son’s old bedroom. I found the Vogue magazine from 2006 which lists his name. He was shortlisted for the Vogue Young Writer of the Year Award. He always puts it on his cv! Have a good rest of the day, especially Soop who has to write some difficult letters.

How is it going urms?

Had an interesting day! DH took me to the gp and was lucky enough to find a parking spot outside.

When I got back in the car he asked if I had read my messages. Apparently DD3 had slipped while walking round the reservoir and hurt her leg so badly that she couldn't stand up. The ambulance, called by someone who found her, arrived within 20 minutes, she was taken to A&E and straight to a fracture ward. She was xrayed (thankfully only a very bad sprain) and discharged.

So, we have been to collect her car, been going to collect from nursery and school, been stood down from that duty as her dh is doing it but are now on school pickups for the rest of the week.

I'm exhausted already.

We will be writing letters today to the family of our daughter-in-law.

Mr Soop is baking deliciously smelling bread. It's windy and wet outdoors. I've ironing piling up. May attend to it as I watch the snooker.

Oh gosh Urms, what a difficult time you’re all having. I imagine your Spanish trip must be off now.
I spent the afternoon with my friend over the road at her Craft afternoon. There were seven of us. I knitted and took a cake to have with our tea. OH managed to dismantle the dreadful fitted wardrobe in our younger son’s old bedroom. He then took it to the tip. Unfortunately he managed to scrape some of the new pink paint in the hall as he was taking the bits of wood downstairs. Fortunately we have some of that paint left and if OH makes a hash, the decorators are back in 5 weeks. Commiserations to all those suffering at the moment,
