Just home after being out all day - I took DGD swimming at the gym this morning, she had a lovely time splashing about in the warm water. I dropped her back home and was just about to leave when DD2 asked if I wanted to go out for a coffee this afternoon- I don’t often get asked so of course I said yes.. we went to the local garden centre and spent a couple of hours chatting away. But as always with DD2 she was chatting and I was listening all good though, she was telling me all about her job.
Hoping Urms stepfather has had him much needed treatment today and all is well

I do hope Urms is having a good day with her stepfather and his needs are being met at the hospital. Talking about medical things - I sent a very polite email to the Health Centre Pharmacist today. I pointed out that I sent my email prescription request on 19 December and heard nothing. I mentioned that I took my last statin a couple of days ago. Within half an hour I had a text telling me that my medication was ready for collection. No explanation. I have spent the day doing WI admin - typing up minutes and sending emails. I also did some personal filing. It may sound weird, but I have a purple filing cabinet which I ❤️. OH is cooking dinner tonight. Bought game pies, cabbage, mash and gravy made with some of my pheasant stock. Have a peaceful rest of the day. I will be getting on with some knitting.

Benjamina, Kitty, I kicked the doctor who delivered my sister as he had promised a brother who I presumed was in his bag.

An absolutely flying visit from me.... I'm so glad your step father is getting the treatment he needs now Urms. I was speed reading posts and was just about to say go to the ED as when my GP insisted I went just before Christmas there was an elderly gentleman there with a profuse nose bleed and he was admitted!!!. I will pop back in soon .. for a proper catch up. It's all hectic and a bit nerve wracking at the moment.

Hope today goes well, urms and that your stepfather can be helped.

Good evening lovely Kitcheners, I’m not feeling too good today. Think it’s a bug, am drinking lots of water and hot drinks. I just popped in to see how your stepfather is Urms. Violent unstoppable nose bleeds were one of the first symptoms of my malignant hypertension, but I see that his BP, etc. is all fine. Hope all goes well tomorrow.

I have been shopping with my 88year old mil today and you kept popping in my head. I was hoping things had improved for him (and you)
My lovely mil always makes me laugh. Not always intentionally!
She was telling me today her nephew is 80 very soon. She said when he was born all the women in the family gathered at her mums house waiting for her sister to give birth. The midwife was there with her black bag. My mil was convinced the midwife had brought him as she heard he had been delivered.
I suppose at 8 years old it was logical!
Anyway.........

Relieved to read your post urms. All good wishes to your much loved stepfather.

The Christmas decorations all down today. We always leave the cards until last, just as I had finished doing so, the post arrived! A card from a cousin, posted well before Christmas, ( all the way from Lincolnshire to us in N.,Cambs.,)

I'm pleased that your stepfather seems to be getting the help & treatment he really needs. A good thing he has you to help that happen, Urms., I hope he makes good progress.

Thank you for posting tonight Urms. I’ve been so worried since I crossed posts with you this morning when you posted have much worse your stepfather was overnight. I’m so glad that it appears that it will be investigated and that he is hopefully feeling better in himself. The poor man must feel worn out.

‘Evening All’

Thanks to everybody who have been so lovely & caring about my stepfather. Today worked out well, we took him back to the A&E department where he had bloods taken again to check his anaemia. Upshot is, he’s booked in tomorrow first thing for a blood transfusion. He looks so pale and wan he’s almost transparent. He’s in good humour though, not poorly as such, no red flags, uncomplaining, appreciative to the hospital staff and us.

Also after the weekend he’s to have an ENT appointment in the MRI Rapid Access clinic - hopefully Monday. 🤞🤞
There’s nothing visible in his nostril to cauterise apparently and his blood pressure, pulse, temperature and heartbeat are all absolutely fine, which is Good News.

Himself has settled in the other room to watch Man City -v- Chelsea and I’m about to watch the first episode of Series 2 of Happy Valley. I’m addicted, it’s so good!

Once again, thank you for your good wishes and concern. It means a lot you are all so kind. On a positive note I’m feeling so much less anxious tonight than last night. A friend who was an ex nurse said to me once “being in control brings confidence”. How true. x

What is it with cats and boxes? I once went to put away a box of what I thought was china only to find it full of ginger cat, very put out at being disturbed

Dear you lovely lot, we've spent the entire afternoon packing all the festive bling and storing it in the loft. The home looks remarkably tidy. All surfaces polished. Washing machine coping with a mega wash. Time to put clean sheets on the bed and polish the bedroom furniture.

I'm perspiring profusely. Intend having a shower and washing my hair. At lunchtime tomorrow, we have to help our friend in the village celebrate his 83rd birthday.

The postie delivered some late Xmas cards this morning, including a few from my dear Gransnet pals. Thank you.

A quick , after which, I shall complete my day's tasks.

I’m the same llfl and hate throwing things away at the tip, I’d much rather someone get some use out of perfectly good things. The charity shops always seem full around here so sometimes I just advertise things for free on the local Gumtree site and quite often things go that way - it’s maybe worth a try
I’ve had a busy day putting away the Christmas decorations, cleaning, changing the bed and I also got out into the garden for an hour as it’s been the first day when it’s not been frozen. Lots of picking up leaves and general winter tidying that we didn’t do when we were away in November. I was cold when I came in so I’ve just had a warm shower and shush I’m whispering just to you, got my pjs on

I hope things are going well today, Urms. As you said, at least he has you and your OH to act on his behalf.
I popped into Oxford this morning to do wool things! Exchanging one lot of wool for another lot. I then drove into our nearby town and visited two Charity shops. Neither would take the following and they are back in my car: perfectly serviceable briefcase; small soft suitcase NOT on wheels, brand new bolster still in its wrapping and a square pillow with a new cover. Apparently no one wants briefcases any more or suitcases not on wheels. They didn’t think they could sell the pillow or bolster. We were also going to take a sea trunk to a Charity shop but probably won’t bother now! I hate throwing things away but fear they are all destined for the tip! I’ve just put a Bol in the oven for dinner and I’m resting with Milo on the sofa. The cleaning ladies came today so my house is sparkling. One of them managed to scrape the candle wax off the kitchen window. Long story, but it involved no kitchen light over Christmas, younger son making his famous fish pie by candle light on Christmas Eve and blowing said candles out rather ferociously. Urms I'm speechless. Your stepfather should be receiving priority treatment. All this delay is beyond belief. I am hopping mad on his behalf.

Oh heck urms, your poor stepfather. Nosebleeds aren’t fun at all. I hope he gets the treatment he deserves quickly. He’s got so much support from you, lucky man in that respect.

Hello all, another late report! Urms, I do hope your stepfather gets the care he needs. I had a big clear out of younger son’s old bedroom today. The decorators are coming in five weeks. We need to dismantle a terrible built in wardrobe (not by us!) so I spent ages clearing it out. I now have a car load of things for the Charity Shop and a large bag of rubbish. Later it was the WI Committee meeting. Not too bad. I’ll type up the notes tomorrow. I listened on zoom after dinner to an excellent lecture on the development of railway stations in London. Now that may sound like a dry and tedious topic to some of you, but I can assure you it isn’t! Have a peaceful evening,
