Good evening dear Kitcheners. I haven’t done anything much today, apart from reading and physio. I’m losing muscle and think I need more protein in my diet so will speak to the surgery nurse this week. Think I’m due bloods anyway. Mr.B does his best, tonight we have had pasta with a delicious roasted red pepper and tomato sauce, followed by salted caramel ice cream.

Sorry to hear about your loss Soop, good news about your son’s partner. AnnSixty you are always welcome to share.

Appallingly difficult for you ann. You’ll be an expert eggshell walker for sure. I hope a tunnel with light will soon appear .

Just needed to tell someone just how difficult life is.

A long time since I was in the kitchen.
Life continues to have it’s challenges as I am sure it does for most of us.
My GD is going through a challenging time re her parents, with whom she does not have a relationship, the fact that her father, my son, currently lives with us, is so awful I cannot even start to explain.
At my age I should not have to deal with it, but nevertheless I do.
I am tying to shut off from it all but it is impossible.
Can’t really describe it or say any more.

Sadness and hope soop life does that. 💐
Gosh, that looks quite bleak brook, beautiful though.
I hope Oscar gets the help he needs Yia at the pace to suit him.
Another very cold day here, Finlay, Imogen and my daughter called in, he liked his birthday presents, they all had full tums after an ‘all you can eat’ lunch. We’ve just had a very tasty pork fillet, I’ll buy it again. No luck in the meat draw earlier in our local, it was very busy there.
Settled in now for a TV evening, I’ll join you in a glass cornergran cheers!

Knowing roughly where you are Brook I thought when I saw your photos that that surely that must be Nairn! I’m sure it was very bracing.

Soop I am sorry about your friend. This type of news seems to be coming all too often, doesn’t it? I’m an o,eased your son’s partner had pops had the op and I hope can begin her recovery now.

Urms and Grandmabatty I’ve seen the Shawshank Redemption too, but it’s one of those films that has left no imprint on my brain at all. So weird how that happens! Have you thought of starting your own book group. Grandmabatty? I’ve done it a couple of times and it’s pretty simple.

Unusually for us on a Sunday, we went out today to a couple of shops with dd and one of the GC. A visit to Starbucks may have been involved! Although it’s warmer now - a heady 5deg today - it was miserable with drizzle and cloud but we came home to a sausage casserole in the slow cooker, which was very nice. A quiet evening ahead now then bed before a new week begins.

Goodness a cold one today, haven’t been able to get warm in spite of many layers.

I’m sorry there is more sadness for you soop, our friends are important. Good news about your sons partner, there must be relief.

Thinking our beleaguered NHS, Mr C is also having excellent care with remarkably speedy appointments for hospital investigations. Our local issue, as with many areas, is a serious shortage of GPs which is creating stress for patients and doctors alike. One doctor in our surgery begins work at 5.30am and finishes at 7.30pm. Surely not sustainable.

A quiet day here. Mr C has made a wooden model. I’ve succeeded in excavating the guest bed, it was there somewhere. Also caught up with some admin and enjoyed email writing. A flying visit from one of ours and his daughters cheered us late afternoon. The ironing will wait until tomorrow afternoon. I’m looking forward to meeting a GN friend for coffee in the morning, it’s some months since she has been well enough to do it. We’ll be putting the world to rights for sure.

Hope Oscar can have help yiayia, life can be hard. That looks to have been very fresh air brook, lovely photos.

Our family's experiences of the NHS have been very positive despite all accounts to the contrary - even on strike days.

I'm wondering how Hello, got on at the celebration yesterday.

That is a relief about the op Soop but so sad to lose a dear friend. This is the way of our world these days though isn’t it?

We had freezing fog all day.DH went to watch DGS2 play football but gave up at half time it was so cold.❄️
We had a nice curry at our local last night with family.Good for Oscar to be with his cousins.He will be having some tests done this week.I hope he gets some help and he can cope better at School.

Brook I don't miss it at all now. I am retired coming up to five years so I'm quite happy. I do miss analysing texts though but there are no book groups locally.

We decided it was about time we dusted off our walking boots so we wrapped up warm and went for a long walk along the beach at Nairn. There’s nowhere to buy anything so we took a flask and the last of the Christmas cake and sat amongst the sand dunes watching the sea and the clouds rolling in. I’m just home now, DH is going to start cooking and I’m going for a long warm shower - bliss! It was cold but I definitely enjoyed being out in the fresh air and I’ll probably sleep better tonight
Your teaching sounds really interesting grandmabatty, do you miss it ? Although I know you’ve another very important job now with the DGSs 😇😇

Son's partner has undergone successful surgery.

Have just heard that a friend in the village died last night. A lovely man.

Urms I taught it as a film text for pupils sitting National Five in fifth year so they were a year older than normal. This is important as the subject matter is problematic for younger pupils. I focused on film techniques to create character ie how the director created a Christ like character in Tim Robbins by the use of camera work, sound, colour etc. Thematic concerns. What the use of music meant, the significance of birds, the ending etc. Often the pupils who don't like reading and struggle with books, are very astute film watchers and learned much and taught me much from their study of Shawshank. Of course, they had to read short stories and poems too, and non fiction, but the film grabbed them. I'm not long back from brunch and a blether. And I've done an hour and a half of Spanish so a cuppa is required. Enjoy your afternoon kitcheners
