I have to eat my words

Wish mine would break down. It's a Bosch and was in the house when we moved in. I suspect it is the original one so probably 15 years old and leaves a lot to be desired BUT it does work so not sure replacing it can be justified at the moment. However the minute it plays up it will be removed to the nature strip.

Miele here too, 12 yrs in and hasn’t missed a beat. Hope you get a great run out of yours.

AussieGran59, it felt unappreciated - so decided to die! I always thought they were a luxury, until I spent a few months without one. I was working and eight family members lived here back then. I felt like I was chained to the sink and my fingers cracked and bled!

My dishwasher wasn't draining properly (it was in the house when I bought it so no idea how old it is!). Called in someone to fix it and asked if he thought I should replace it. His reply was to keep it as he spends more time repairing and replacing parts to the newer machines than he does to the old ones which were built to last and seem to go on forever.

Oldwonan70, that’s so true. I hate my new washing machine! The old one was much better. Apart from the cost of the thing I really don’t care if it stops working. Eco friendly is all very well but unless you manually increase the water level it doesn’t fill up enough to wash properly! Clothes still covered in detergent when it’s finished.

I have an Eco friendly washer. I found it works better if I use half recommended detergent. Clothes are perfectly clean with reduced detergent.

We have a friend that fixes washing machines and dishwashers for a living, and he said the same thing. Even a new Bosch is not as good as an old one.
