Mick is away so hope Iām OK to open up today.
Good morning all from a less chilly Torbay where the temperature has reached the dizzy heights of three degrees!!
DH (*olddudders*) arrived safely at Portsmouth, having opted for a change of route from the one I favour; he travelled via the A303 and A34, etc. It was 20 miles longer than using the A35 and A31 but took less time. Luckily, no adverse road conditions were encountered. After an overnight in Travelodge, he will be on the early ferry, leaving at 8.15a.m.
Yesterday, I was very relieved to have my post operation medication sorted out by a very helpful pharmacist at our surgery. The various tablets supplied by the hospital had nearly all gone and the paperwork regarding my stay has yet to reach my practice.
I hope everyone is warm and well. š¦©šāļøš

Will any of the Celtic Connections events be online Kalu? I can only think of a gift subscription for something he enjoys to read, watch or listen to, which can be enjoyed at home. He has been through the mill.
I beg your pardon Kalu. I didnāt know and certainly wouldnāt have wished to make you or your DH uncomfortable. Sorry.
DH could open a sock shop Grammaretto š We both enjoy Celtic Connections , visits to the theatre and classical concerts at the Concert Hall. Hope this isnāt TMI but the main reason DH isnāt comfortable presently going out in public spaces is there are some uncontrollable, often quite loud gurgling noises omitting from his stoma which others would be uncomfortable having to hear. Thanks for you kind thought though.
I am going for a look around our local shopping mall tomorrow hoping, just the thing he would like will jump out at me.
Warm socks Kalu and tickets to a play or movie in a warm, comfy space. You have Celtic Connections coming up. Would DH enjoy something in that?
I'm afraid this could be suggestions for what I would like for Christmas!
Happy birthday Megs. Good to see you posting.
Grammaretto, I was inside the station, so it wasn't icy and it was more of a fast hobble, than a run. I haven't been able to to run in years!! š
Good afternoon everyone, itās still awfully cold, icy and snowy herein my corner of Wiltshire. The Ocado driver has just phoned to say sheās stuck in snow and ice and someone has driven into her delivery van.
Poor lady!
Iāve rebooked for tomorrow morning, itās no problem. I havenāt been out for 3 days, I certainly have no intention of driving, our estate roads are sheet ice.
Stay safe and warm everyone x
Good day (it being pm now) all. Itās cloudy and cold here is West Sussex.
I went to Brighton yesterday for a meet-up with former colleagues. It was winter wonderland over there on the edge of the Downs. Only three of us made it. Others lived at the top of hills with icy/snowy roads or had further to come and were too anxious to drive. I had stayed with DD overnight as she lives nearer and all the roads I had to go on were well gritted. I was glad I had made the effort as the hostess had gone to her usual trouble to lay everything out beautifully.
Marydoll I read your account of yesterdayās travel tribulations with breath held. When I got to where you were running for the train I nearly had a heart attack myself. I hope you are none the worse today.
I was shivering for the Scottish grans when I heard the weather reports yesterday evening. These temperatures are scary.
Thatās a lovely quote Urmstongran
Susan I laughed at you having to get up for āelf on the shelf*! I called with DD3 yesterday on my way home and 3 year old DGD was regaling me with the exploits of their elves š
Ash we go on the A34 heading north from the A27 now, rather than using the M25. It is usually faster.
Mattie I havenāt commented on your postings regarding DL but have followed most days with admiration at all you have done. I hope she settles into her new place without too many problems. And I hope you have a tranquil pre-Christmas time to yourself.
I hope Baubles, Grandmabatty, Newquay and any others who are ill recover soon and Gingsterās DD gets her immunotherapy.
Kalu - yuck! The joy of cats šø
Hello All, from a foggy, frosty (-2), (yesterday's snow still around), N., Cambs.,
Warm wishes for Megs on your Birthday.

Take Care Everyone. x
Very good suggestions Nannagarra which we have actually done over the years. Sadly, DH was diagnosed with throat cancer and had surgery for a total laryngectomy, you werenāt to know but he is not quite ready to go out in public, especially restaurants. I will think of something apart from the sweets š but thank you for your thoughtful reply.
Good morning from Sefton.
Kalu have you considered suggesting a joint present, a treat you can share with your DH? A hotel stay or a special meal? We have done this in the past and will do it this year. It takes the pressure off both of us and we prefer it to actual physical gifts.
Thinking if you all.

I had to come back to check that the poor DL has really moved out!
What a good friend you have been gMattie and when the dust settles and she's in her new house, you can have a nice friendship again.perhaps
Marydoll I can't remember why you were running for trains yesterday but I thought of you when I saw a woman running for a bus this morning. Bearing in mind it is extremely icy.
Good morning all from Glasgow, thank you for starting us off Ash. -7 at present no snow but such a hard frost turning everything outside white, I thought for a minute it had been snowing.
Getting up in the dark during the night for the usual loo visit, too late, I realised the cat had been sick beside my bed and of course, I stood on it! Yuck. This is a rare occurrence for her but I wasnāt in the mood to, being half asleep, wash my foot and clean and disinfect a carpet.
I am at a loss as to what to buy DH for his C present. He doesnāt need anything apart from a selection of his favourite sweets.
Why is it so difficult to think of a choice of gifts for men as opposed to buying for women? Or am I the only one who has this dilemma? A ridiculous first world problem, I know.
A few bits and pieces to do indoors plus phone calls, I am thankfully not venturing out.
Best wishes to all for a positive day and be careful in these icy conditions to those who will be out and about.
Thankyou Shazza
I love the sound of your house Harrigran you have so many rooms!!!
Relieved to see that moving day went without a hitch Grandmattie, enjoy a little freedom now.
Iām worried about you Marydoll, ignoring TKMaxx, unheard of! Winter travel is such a nightmare. Iām staying put until at least Friday when I have a hair appointment
Happy Birthday to Megs
Good morning Ash and all gransnetters.
Braved the elements yesterday and picked up my specs from the optician and had my red Christmas nails done. I have acrylic purely for the reason I pick my fingers, a horrible habit and I canāt do it with acrylics. One of my rubber shoe grippers for the snow had broken, so I used just one, looking pretty strange.
Someoneāphoned me at 7 leaving no message and I donāt recognise the numberā¦
Today to music club. I may sing something Christmassy, see how the voice is.
My hand drawn Xmas card.
Good morning from a snowy/icy NE where it is -4.
Had message from DS yesterday to say that DIL and GD2 were confined to bed with a nasty virus, poor GD she is flying to Italy on Friday.
I did nothing yesterday, just caught up with TV in the music room as it warms up quicker that the large lounge.
SIL went shopping for me and managed to get all the gifts on the list plus gift cards.
My sister is stressing about travelling to the UK, when she comes she usually stays six weeks so why is she waiting until the busiest time of the year. The airport is 45 minutes drive away and somebody is going to have to collect her at rush hour on a Friday afternoon.
I must sort my freezer out and do some housework but most reluctant to leave the warm study at present.
Nice to see the children being pulled to school on sledges this morning, beats the mums parking their Chelsea tractors in every inch of the street.
Take care those that have this icy weather.
Good morning from a still snowy but sunny W Kent. Fed up as I have cancelled my hair appointment due to the fact we can't get the car out and I am terrified of falling over on the ice. Marydoll what a hardy lot you Scots are, DD1 in Perth walked to school, here in Kent the schools were closed, oh dear.
gM free at last, relax if you can.
I hope Mick is enjoying his Christmas jaunt.
Best wishes to all
Good morning everyone. Fog and cloud in this corner of Lancashire, currently 1°C.
I slept so well last night I didnāt wake up until the alarm went to remind me to take my first lot of meds. I didnāt awaken again until Mr. B fetched the morning tea. Itās so warm and cosy in my bed I didnāt want to leave it.
My tea is now finished, the second lot of meds are doing their work so Iāll read your posts now.
Good morning all from frozen Harrogate weāve had a smattering of snow. Itās now - 1 degree which is a heatwave compared to yesterday!!
Iām now having surgery problems. Iām on antibiotics which finish o Saturday and Iām supposed to have a different antibiotic to continue with. The surgery insist I see a doctor, the earliest next Tuesday!!! I said Iām trying to prevent being hospitalised as happened last time. All the receptionist could say was discuss it with the doctor next week!! Whatās the point!!
Itās DDās birthday today, DH has walked up to give her her pressie. We got the tree up as always for her birthday!! Sheās only 48! Thank you Ash for opening up, hope mick is having a great time
GrandMattie you wonāt know what to do with yourself - just relax.
Marydoll what a palaver you got yourself into!
Have the best day possible folks
Good morning all. I've been up, had breakfast and am now back in bed to try to get warm! It's -6°C here on the Angus coast. I've lived here for 25 years now and never known anything like this.
I had a good final (final - really?) Christmas shopping spree yesterday and it was quite hassle-free because there were no crowds. The drive back to the coast from DD's in Perthshire was no problem either. There were very few lorries which seems to make a huge difference.
Anyway, today there's lots to do, if only I can get going - not least getting out there with warm water to see if I can defrost the pipes to the windscreen if the car, and give the car windows a good clean as I have to go down into town to order my repeat prescription early as I shall run out of meds before I get home from my visits to DD's New Man in Notts for Christmas and my son in Lincs for New Year.
I shall come back and read all the posts later Keep cosy everyone!
dragonfly we are so bad for nice shops in Hull. The worst time with Next was when 6 of us went out for a meal and when myself and the other lady took our coats off we had the same dress on. We just sat next to each other hoping people would think we were twinsš
I canāt order clothes online as I consider myself too lumpy and bumpy. But I do love the shop.
Gingster pleased to hear your news, except the nurse not turning up of course.
Greyduster your DS sounds like mine!
