King Charles coronation

I’m reading today that Charles will be insisting that Harry & Meghan will be invited to his Coronation next year… but why? So they may still whinge & moan and take sneaky pictures for maybe another forthcoming battering of the royal family, moan that all the family will be so cold towards them, that no one is friendly towards them. Charles do your best and don’t invite them, they probably wouldn’t attend anyway..

Mollygo your suggestion that Glorianny's comment was rude makes me wonder what word you'd choose to describe the behaviour of Charles & Camilla when they plotted & schemed to maintain their adulterous affair as they courted the then innocent teenage Diana

faye17 Sun 18-Dec-22 11:03:28

Absolutely Gloria's, Camilla's been in the washing machine for years in preparation for her position as Charles'wife/Queen consort/queen.
The monarchy allow the gutter press to endlessly sully Megan Markle as it keeps attention off the real issue which is that two groomers of a young Diana are now to be rewarded with the highest titles in the land.

Perhaps because she got some very timely advice from Charles' press office about how to behave and what not to do.
How very rude and dismissive of older people’s ability to make judgements of their own about correct behaviour or to demonstrate good manners without having to be told.

Glorianny Sun 18-Dec-22 10:52:40

Sago

They are invited because our King is going to behave in a dignified manner and because he loves his son.

It’s amazing how Camilla was once one of the worlds most hated women and is now warmly accepted by the British public.
Unlike MM she quietly and calmly got on with her role and never blabbed to the press, moaned or decided the world needed to know her side of the story.

Her dignified silence was her saving grace.

MM could learn a lot from her.

Perhaps because she got some very timely advice from Charles' press office about how to behave and what not to do. It always surprises me when anyone thinks anything to do with the RF is either spontaneous or authentic. They are the biggest and longest running soap opera and they hide their mistakes very well. From children hidden from view, through the P of Wales and Mrs Simpson (kept out of the UK press for ages) to Charles and Camilla, the pubic gets spun stories and falls for them!!
Any one suspect at all that there may be a link between Camilla=Good and Meghan =Bad?

Harry had good cause to be angry with his father over the way Diana was treated, that is understandable, Charles I’m sure feels a good measure of guilt over his marriage failure but still loves his son as any father would.

Any such statement of a definite invitation would have come from the office of the King and why wouldn't it? It certainly suits the narrative that the Royal family are beyond reproach and that Harry & Megan are the trouble makers.

Please post it 😁

Actually, don't, I have a delicate constitution these days

I've been keeping a video diary for years, just to annoy GNers.

My head may explode with the effort of keeping two diametrically opposite opinions in there at the same time

Now, don't get going off in a frenzy, volver!!
Is Netflix there to film it btw?

Mollygo Sun 18-Dec-22 10:27:08

consort is a bit strong
Being at the same party as someone is not exactly consorting.
Be kind.grin
Perhaps Vd was making a pun on the use of ‘consort’.

Sorry, quote didn't load.
I'm rushing, off to yet another cathedral advent service. -- Don't mention Rev. What's his name--

Such a pity that Shakespeare isn’t still alive. He would make a brilliant history play out of all of this.

Shakespeare used the Prodigal Son theme in Henry 1V, King Lear and Comedy of Errors, probably others too.

OxfordGran here's the invitation to HM Queen Elizabeth II's coronation.
It says By Command of the Queen but of course, strict protocol is followed.

Charles as we know was an adulterer : the question of his being anointed with sacred Holy Oil is a sticky one.
Jesus forgave sinners
The Church of England was founded on adultery and divorce

Oh, OK then.

Sorry about this Callistemon, I don't think you were involved.

But we had a big discussion about how the Queen was actually, personally the source of everything that says "issued on behalf of the Queen".

But she's not responsible for invitations that say "by command of the Queen".

My head may explode with the effort of keeping two diametrically opposite opinions in there at the same time.

If adultery ruled out kings and queens we would be a republic

Could Camilla learn how not to consort with sad middle aged men who hate younger women?

Surely an invitation to his own Coronation is not in Charles’s gift, as the Duke of Norfolk will be in charge of every aspect will he not?
Charles will be obliged to abide by rules, protocol, precedent perhaps, imperatives, despite speculation that the ceremony will be more streamlined and shorter.
The Queen was devout and took her religious responsibilities seriously.

Similar scenarios play out in families all around the world, it often goes with the territory, his leaving the door ajar will resonate with many a parent who find themselves in conflict with their offspring in the hope that differences at some time in the future can be resolved. It demonstrates his love for Harry overrides personal hurt.

Exactly this

IMO he could not possibly not invite him.

And, of course, it would be a good tactic anyway because it puts the ball firmly in Harry's court.
