I used to find him mildly amusing and sometimes offensive, but his latest rant in the pages of The Sun is just sick beyond belief.

You may not like him or his rantings, but, he's done what he intended, got you all talking about him.

kircubbin2000, I am surprised you have a laughing emoji on your post. Animals are vulnerable and that sort of act is no laughing matter.
As for it being a scene from a GoT, how does that make it any better? Quite frankly I think the fact that it was acted out on tv is appalling.

Whilst I’ve only heard his comments from game of thrones. As he’s always coming out with stupid comments why are ppl surprised. Don’t watch him or like himself but as we live in a free country he’s allowed his opinions and we are ours

I don't think anyone is particularly "surprised" - Clarkson has a reputation that most are aware of.

In our 'free' country, opinions that are deliberately offensive can have consequences, especially if they could be construed as an incitement to violence.

And, further, what was his actual 'opinion'? He didn't really give one did he? He just spewed out a lot of hatred to put it bluntly.

I would wager that quite a few people defending freedom of speech would be incandescent with rage if something similar was said about them, or one of their adult children.

It might be a bit platitudinous to say this, but it's nevertheless true - with freedom comes responsibility. Even in a 'free' country.

Whilst I think what Clarkson wrote was disgusting, I do need to defend him on the racism charges. The scene he describes is straight from Game of Thrones - both the books and the tv series - and the woman in that scene is white (Cersei Lannister if anyone is interested) so I really don't think he intended a racist slur. Notice he has had to backpeddle really fast today, apparently there has been a ton of complaints. I do normally find him quite funny but this was a step too far, even by his standards.

GrammaH Mon 19-Dec-22 15:22:02

There's no answer to that kircubbin2000!!

kircubbin2000 Mon 19-Dec-22 15:04:28

He has no shame. I remember on Top Gear he even filmed the Columbian man having sex with his donkey.😂

Callistemon21 Mon 19-Dec-22 14:55:49

Not long ago Jo Brand made a horrible joke about throwing battery acid at politicians!
She's vile too as it that bloke who made jokes about Katie Price's disabled son, can't remember his name.

He's apologised apparently.

That's no apology. He says he's sorry for making the reference to GoT, and causing so much hurt. No apology for comparing Meghan and the first minister of Scotland with a serial killer. No apology for saying everybody of a similar age thinks like him

It was a mealy-mouthed excuse, not a heartfelt apology.

I've never watched Game of Thrones.

Zoejory Mon 19-Dec-22 14:49:17

To be fair though, when I read the article the first thing I thought of was the Game of Thrones scene.

It is all b….s though about GOT.

Rose West wasn’t in it was she?

Don't think so. Nor Nicola Sturgeon.

H and M will probably sue JC now, That is their answer to everything or of course, a 'public apology'.
Along with the one from The Firm

How I hate that expression about our Royalty !
Just thought i would mention that

Whitewavemark2 Mon 19-Dec-22 14:31:17

Or re-educated.

Bit late though.

It all rings so hollow.

Zoejory Mon 19-Dec-22 14:09:56

Maybe he'll get cancelled.

The Walk of Shame in GoT happened to Cersei, who was an adulterous, murderous woman who let nothing stand in her way in the quest for power.

Not good enough, Jeremy.

lizzypopbottle Mon 19-Dec-22 13:55:55

My husband and sons always watched Top Gear when he was on it but I had to leave the room if I caught sight of Jeremy Clarkson. I admit I can't stand James May or the other guy either. All three were totally juvenile.

So called celebrities seem to think they can say absolutely anything and we'll hang on their every word and admire them for it. Not long ago Jo Brand made a horrible joke about throwing battery acid at politicians! When you think of what Katie Piper and others have suffered, that was an awful way to get cheap laughs.

It is true. In fact I commented on GN about it the other day. Or yesterday. Whenever it was.

I believe so. I've never seen it but I remember a partner describing such a scene some years ago, so I recognized its source.

25Avalon Mon 19-Dec-22 13:46:25

What I can’t believe is Sky reading out exactly what Clarkson said.

LizzieDrip Mon 19-Dec-22 13:46:01

Clarkson is a vile bully! What he’s written in this article is utterly disgusting, and how dare he say that everyone who’s the same age as him thinks the same. He doesn’t speak for me, or for millions of other right-minded people. What a toss**!

One is allowed to have disgusting opinions but there are laws about the open publication of some of them.
