Good Morning Everyone ,
A dark but dry and cold outside.
My weight as shot up again , especially with cold weather and having large course meals at the hotel in Scarborough , but will gradually bring that down with eating as normal .
Quiet day in today .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning froman icy NE, -2 and no sign of the snow melting yet. Good luck Shazza, it is freezing in Stanley DS has to pass through when he comes to my house.
Both my sister's and BIL came yesterday, my elder sister would not let anyone get a word in edgeways. Airline have not found her suitcase and she left another bag on the plane.
I gave her birthday gifts and a glass of Prosecco, she was talking, unwrapping and waving her arms around and twice knocked over her wine glass.
I was telling the family that GD had taken the bus to college by herself on Friday and how well she had managed, sister was sarcastic and said " got the bus and she is only 17 ". GD has a problem with processing information and needs guidance to process written information like bus routes and timetables and when she was at school she was given half an hour longer to read exam papers.
I was cross with my sister, if she shut up for five minutes and listened to other people she would know what was going on around her.
Today is my youngest child's 51st birthday😱
GD2 is enjoying her ski trip, saw some lovely photos on Twitter last night.
DD and SIL coming this afternoon, haven't a clue what we are going to have for dinner, might be a rummage through the freezer. DD is a vegetarian and her drawer in the freezer always looks more attractive.
Have a good day apparently it is going to be 13 degrees here tomorrow so thaw is on its way.

Urmstongran Sun 18-Dec-22 08:55:12

She said “Leicester” Jax probably just up the road from kitty and dragonfly!
👋 to you Caz nice to have you join us.
If you stick around you’ll soon get to know us all. 😊

Welcome Caz763 where in the world are you?

NannyJan53 Sun 18-Dec-22 08:41:37

Good morning from a cold, but less icy Black Country, although snow is forecast1

I didn't go to DD's yesterday to sit with the girls whilst they went out for a meal. She has a bad cold/flu! Such a shame as today is her 44th birthday, at least she doesn't have school tomorrow. I took over her presents and cards and then Mum and I had lunch in the village pub. Hopefully she is feeling a little better today.

Will have a brunch today of full English, a very rare treat here.

No real plans today, except at 4pm a friends church is having a Carol concert, so I may go. It may get me in the Christmas Spirit. MrJ will probably be watching the World Cup Final.

Sorry you slipped on the ice GM sometimes it is your pride that is hurt more. Hope there is not too much damage. My friend did a similar thing about 6 years ago, and broke both wrists!

Sounds like a lovely day Ashcombe glad you enjoyed it.

Hoping Grandmabatty is feeling better, and anyone else who has been unwell .

Wishing you all a safe and warm day

Good morning from a frozen Colchester. There was a lovely red sunrise and now it's very grey outside. I have just skated down to the outside bin and don't plan on venturing out again until it thaws.
DS is slowly recovering from his virus and my Mum is home from hospital and is much happier at home.
World cup on TV this afternoon followed by a roast beef dinner.
Love to all 🦩x

Gala Sun 18-Dec-22 08:35:18

Good morning all. A grey day here in Sefton. No sign of any white crunchy stuff at the moment but sleet forecast for later in the day.
Up at sparrow fart yesterday for an early morning breakfast rendezvous with Santa and DS2 & his little family. DGD2 (3) was mightily excited. We had a full breakfast brought to us by an elf. There was a present for each child, craft activities & a story & plenty of photo ops. Next year though, I think I might hold out for a lunch date instead. Rest of the day was spent recovering from the very early & cold start to the day.
Today's plan is to tackle changing the bed linen and the washing & ironing I didn't do yesterday. Living the life.
Hoping for a kind & peaceful Sunday for you all.

Good Morning from Leicester, I’ve recently joined and navigating my way through these interesting topics. I’m not very technical, but hopefully will be able to make some posts myself.

GrannySomerset Sun 18-Dec-22 08:31:55

Definitely less arctic this morning as the garden and field are green after several days of heavy frost which didn’t shift all day. Church this morning and then out to lunch with kind friends so a day with no need to cook.

My sympathy to all the trippers - it’s not only the damage involved but the insecurity which lasts and lasts. And now is definitely not the time to need A&E, or any other kind of medical support, so I am carefully considering my every activity which is boring but sensible.

Taichinan Sun 18-Dec-22 08:29:19

Good morning everyone. Sun won't be up for another hour, so it's still grey outside. Apparently it's 3°, but windy - I'll take that over ice any day!
Sorry about your fall grandmattie but glad no bones are broken. Safe trip Shazza.
DD and NewMan decided to meet up in the Lake District yesterday and bagged another Wainwright - as you do. Just a gentle stroll I'm told. Me, I popped down into town with a small gift for a friend, had a quick cuppa, looked at the mobbed Tesco car park and came straight home again!
I loved the Strictly final last night - didn't think I could watch it for so long! What talent those people have and I was delighted for Hamza.
Today, more present wrapping - and I notice I need two more birthday cards. We have five close family birthdays during the Christmas holiday, dreadful planning!
Yesterday I did post but not til late afternoon. When I popped back in to read all the posts I found my own one still waiting for me to press 'send'! How daft can you get!.
Have a good day everyone, and be careful on the ice x

Beechnut Sun 18-Dec-22 08:28:37

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s not so frosty this morning so it must be warming up I’m very glad to say.

I went out yesterday but found it frustrating with parking and after two separate attempts to park in a supermarket car park I gave up and came home. I’d just filled the car with fuel so wasn’t going to waste it driving round and round and round.

I watched a Christmas film too and then did some tempura prawns to eat while Strictly was on. That was always a ritual we did and I’ve carried it on. I think it’ll be my last year though as I no longer enjoy Strictly like I did.

Have a good day all and take it steady as Mattie has proved it’s so easy to slip out there ❄️🎄🦩

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 18-Dec-22 08:22:01

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It looks as though there’s been a dusting of snow. I will finish wrapping presents this morning. One or two are still on their way! We had no post at all yesterday. I saw the postman deliver to one house in my road! I’m expecting loads of things. After lunch I will decorate the tree. Then while OH watches football I will start preparing beef bourguignon and lemon surprise pudding for dinner. Have a good day everyone, and GM I hope your knee improves. I tend to slip on slippery surfaces so I’m not venturing out today.

brook2704 Sun 18-Dec-22 08:20:46

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s been very cold overnight but forecast to be a high of 3º today so hopefully the snow will begin to melt at last.
Enjoy your DGDs dance show Susan and hope all goes well
Yesterdays plan of having an easy day didn’t happen as DD2 messaged asking for help with the DGC so I was out most of the day. I really don’t mind at all but I just wish she was more organised. She’s the complete opposite to DD1 who’s already messaged me with our plans for next week when I’m visiting there again Anyhow today I’m definitely staying in, DH will be watching the footy later and I’ll probably just have a read on my kindle.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, if you’re out and about has a good time but take care all on the ice

Jaxjacky Sun 18-Dec-22 08:17:06

Good morning from a milder S Hants +3, positively balmy. Enjoy your show this evening Susan. Sorry to hear you tripped gMattie, glad it wasn’t too bad.
Daughter and children didn’t make it over yesterday, hopefully today and I need to go out for greenery before the rain sweeps in.
Enjoy your day if you can🦩🦩

Grandmabatty Sun 18-Dec-22 08:16:48

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 0° and frosty. Grandmattie ouch! I hope your knee is ok. Cornergran the way your friends are being ignored is shocking. Urms have a lovely family dinner later. Ash that sounds like a lovely treat for you yesterday. I hope you dressed appropriately? Wasn't she the friend whose house is cold?
Thank you to all who have posted concerns. I felt a little better yesterday but have had a set back as I had a terrible coughing fit during the night. I've had honey and lemon and my throat feels less raw. I have had lovely messages from friends to cheer me up.
Today will be spent between bed and couch. Have a good day all.

Grammaretto Sun 18-Dec-22 08:16:19

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Still no thaw here and the driveway is so treacherous I have to walk on what was the grass. I skidded and tripped but no bones broken. Our pavements are like ice-rinks.

DMiL and BiL have recovered from covid so that's good news. But both local DGC are poorly now with flu like symptoms. They are missing the last week of school.

Quaker meeting followed by singing and lunch today and a walk if enough daylight.

I hope those with troubles find comfort.

Wyllow3 Sun 18-Dec-22 08:15:53

snow, not "saw!"

Marydoll Sun 18-Dec-22 08:15:47

Good morning all from a slightly warmer Glasgow, its 2°C here.

I too almost fell yesterday, my stick went one way and I the other. I ended up hanging onto a tree, too terrified to move. Asda had run out of grit and the car park and pedestrian areas were like a skating rink.
However, I was determined to get DH's watch engraved, just in case I couldn't get out this week.
I had the bright idea of getting the message engraved in Italian, so that the engraver wouldn't know what it said. blush
The end result is just what I wanted.

I never made the Vigil Mass last night, because my sortie in the cold, left me feeling quite iffy. The pavements hadn't been gritted and people were walking on the icy roads, 😱, I was so afraid I would skid and hit a pedestrian. It was a rather foolhardy idea to go out.

Today I plan to wrap the presents, which have been lying for days in the spare room.
DH has just informed me that the freezer door has been open all night. 😭 All my fault, so I'm off to check the mess.

Hoping all in the sick bay are improving.
Have a good day folks and take care.

Wyllow3 Sun 18-Dec-22 08:15:16

Good Morning from Still chilly S Yorks, some of last weeks saw still lingers in the garden.

I'm glad you enjoyed your 5* meal, Gingster

Shazza, my family live quite close to where you are heading.

Take care all, sorry about the fall GM just shows how careful we need to be.

Today is Quakers and maybe the gym afterwards.

Greyduster Sun 18-Dec-22 08:13:05

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from very cold, murky South Yorkshire. A little bit of culinary overindulgence will do no harm Mick. You’ll soon be back to normal. We had a wasted day here yesterday as DS spent most of it at two of our walk in clinics trying to get an issue with his ear sorted out. It was eventually. We ordered a Chinese meal in the evening which was delicious. I worked out that it is about fifteen years since I ate a Chinese takeaway, or any Chinese food for that matter. Where have I been all my life? My fortune cookie said “Lovely people are thinking about you.” DS said I must have had his by mistake😁! Today the plan is to unearth the Christmas tree and maybe have chilli for dinner.
Have the best day you can folks.

Georgesgran Sun 18-Dec-22 08:10:16

Good morning from a still dark Durham, where the temperature is -2, and there is a weather warning for snow and ice.
DD1 has ‘flu and although she’s worried about passing it on, needs help with DGS1, so I’m awaiting instructions.
Shazza - you’ll defo need thermals for Stanley - always considered a chilly area at the best of times!
Best wishes to all. X

Gingster Sun 18-Dec-22 08:05:46

Good morning all and certainly not milder here. Another heavy frost! There’s a pinky hue in the sky as the darkness disappears.

We had a lovely afternoon yesterday with Dd, little gd and twin gs’s . After lunch us girls went into the conservatory where it was warm with the sun and had a craft session. Knitting, snowflake making , and general sticking, glueing and mess making! Then gd got out her ‘restaurant stuff’ and called us in to her 5* establishment for a 4 course meal. ‘Anything you like’.
Menu’s and credit cards were made and little pooch was the waitress. Fetching and carrying! She did get the ‘push’ after a while and decided to have a snooze on the sofa. 😂😂.
The boys and Gaga watched the football in peace! 😉.

Be careful in these slippy roads and pavements! I have some grippers to put in my shoes and they work a treat when I’m dog walking. I wouldn’t go out without them.

Enjoy your day, everyone! ❤️

cornergran Sun 18-Dec-22 08:00:33

Morning Mick, morning All from a wet and windy corner of Somerset. Rain all day if the forecast is to be believed.

Tasks accomplished yesterday morning the afternoon was spent doing very little. Nothing has changed with our friends. Apparently no weekend support available. Lots of contact with their daughter yesterday. Thank you all for your understanding

A more active day today, we plan to give the inside of the conservatory frame a deep clean, will speak to our friend, some admin to do and our goddaughter will phone. Paella this evening.

As a serial tripper-upper I well understand the damage to the feelings grandmattie, pleased no serious physical harm. An exciting day for you all susan, hope all goes well for your granddaughter.

Safe travels to everyone on the move. Hope Sunday is kind to us all.

Urmstongran Sun 18-Dec-22 07:58:35

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. Alexa tells me to expect a high of 6°C today. It’s damp out because it rained pretty much all of yesterday.

No plans until 5pm when we pick up my stepfather and head into our favourite Italian restaurant round the corner from here. A table for seven of us has been booked as the little family of four are joining us today. A nice pre-Christmas dinner together. Shame the Yorkshire Duo can’t join us that would make a complete family gathering! No matter, we hope to all drive over to see them mid week, weather permitting.

Enjoy Sunday if you can. x
