I will start of by saying that (particularly in the winter, I really do love having my weekly Sainsbury's shop delivered to my home. I am quite happy to pay an annual sum to have those deliveries in one-hour timed slots.

Have recently changed over to Sunday deliveries. But have found th t th eir timing then leaves much to be desired. So, today, here I am at 3.35 pm sitting down, typing this, having already received and packed away this weeks shop down to be delivered between 5 pm - 6 pm!!!! No problem as I am at home, but often go away and come home on Sunday afternoon, so there would be no-one here if they do not keep to their allocated time.

This did happen to me during the summer, when I was in my daughter's car on the way homefroma weekend away, , when my next door neighbour phoned to say that Sainsbury's were trying to deliver.

I pick the early slot 9-10 (Sundays for me too) - less time for the timings to be out, then rest of day free.

I have Tesco deliveries, as does a neighbour down the road.
A couple of times the driver has phoned to ask if I'm in and is it ok to come early, as he's at my neighbour's. I said maybe she and I should co-ordinate deliveries!

I have Tesco deliveries and he came earlier this afternoon.
Very occasionally they come earlier than the time booked, but always text first to ask if it will be ok.
Can't fault Tescos at all.

I agree re Tesco. We have had them since the start of the pandemic. They have been great.

I have Morrison's deliver and most times I receive a call up to an hour early to see if my goods can be delivered. I am usually delighted.

He's probably just trying to deliver as he is in the area. If you're not at home, I imagine he'd come back later.

I expect they will be busier than usual because of Christmas. I use Sainsbury's, and they usually text to say if they are going to be early. I tend to get a delivery on a Friday, which I book on Wednesday night or Thursday morning, but this week (as in Friday gone) there were only a couple to choose from, both in the evening.

They sometimes try to deliver earlier - if they're in the area - but will return at the scheduled time if you're out, refuse or don't answer the door. Therefore, I see no problem with it.

Around here, Sainsbury's are off with their timings, Ocado are more reliable and Bother (useful for stocking up with store cupboard stuff) use DPD, so stick to their time slots.

We've used Tesco deliveries for years as we both have health issues. If for any reason they are going to be outside the one hiur times slot (which is extremely rare) they always let us know. Two friends have said their Sainsbury orders can come either very early or late.

They are very busy and there are staff shortages, I am sure they do what they can to stick to time but sometimes cannot.

Tesco here too, they always phone if early.

They will just come back if you're not in ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ.... I don't think its a big deal

Our Tesco delivery regularly arrives up to 30 minutes early. We never get a phone call to check it's OK, and the drivers rarely even check that there is someone home before unloading everything from the van and bringing it to the door, even though they would have to take it all back to the van again if no one was in.

We've only had one very strangely-timed delivery, when it arrived mid-morning instead of mid afternoon.
After the driver had left, I double-checked my account, thinking I must have made a mistake with the time slot. I hadn't, but I think someone must have! Luckily, it wasn't a problem as DH was home.

Ours is usually a midweek slot. On the rare occasion that I've had a weekend delivery, they have been less reliable, with some arriving well after the time slot.

We have Ocado...always on time, very few substitutes or problems.

Lucky you. I registered but they don't operate in Northern Ireland.
