I thought people may be interested to see this - if you have time, and space to freeze there are some real bargain vegetables available.

Yes indeed. I mentioned on another thread that we had bought Lidl potatoes, parsnips, sprouts, carrots and swede all 19p each. We have made soup and will be having carrot, parsnip and swede mash tonight.

We have bought them too. I’ve stored some in our garage where it’s cold and they keep well out there. We will use for soups, stews, etc.

I rushed off to Lidl to buy cauliflowers because we are making cauliflower cheese for a lot of people, only to find the cauliflower offer had finished and they were back to 95p.

But if you can find a bargain, good.

I just hope the supermarkets are selling them as loss leaders and bearing the cost, and that the farmers are getting the price of production plus some profit.

You know, I always buy the veg or fruit on offer. It’s good quality if you don’t mind a few wonky shapes, which I don’t. Once cooked how would anybody know?

It's not as wonky as the veg we grow in the garden 😁

Yes I went into Lidl today as on route to see my friend. Plan was to buy her some flowers and spotted all the great veg offers. Sprouts parsnips and carrots bought for less than 60pence. Ended up buying her a pineapple which she was thrilled with.

Sainsbury's are price matching with 19p ve..

It’s all on the list for all the supermarkets, dated today - Sainsbury looks good, but go to Tesco for your broccoli if you can be bothered as it’s much cheaper than the others for that.

Good to know we use lots of veg it adds to what I manage to grow.

My feezer is too full for vegetables after buying lots of the lamb and beef deals in Tesco . I even have some of last year's lamb still there .
