Morning all from an overcast S Hants, as Sally said, we have the threat of no water, I’ve showered while the going’s good, dishwasher was run last night, MrJ will be off to the water station soon too.
Off to the library this morning, bathroom cleaning then that’s it for house cleaning apart from the kitchen which is continuous.
Thinking of Hellogirl today x

harrigran Thu 22-Dec-22 08:05:05

Good morning from a dry NE where it is 5 degrees.
Grocery shopping done yesterday morning, everything I wanted was available. That is that as far as food shopping is concerned.
Last night's family dinner was a success, we had a small dining room to ourselves and the food was exceptional.
I now have until Christmas day to myself so I will wrap GDs' gifts and watch some TV.
Take care Mike, collapsing outside is scary.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow.

I'm sorry to hear about your collapse yesterday, I'm going to be blunt, no pussyfooting about. You need to stay at home, rest and contact your GP for advice. Your body is telling you something.

Baubles, glad to hear more positive news.

Yesterday, I ended up bed after my doctor's visit and going to the bank. I slept for three hours after feeling really light headed.
Parking is a nightmare in Paisley, so I left my car at the surgery and jumped on a bus. On the way back, three buses in a row were cancelled and I was soaking wet.
On a lighter note, I had forgotten how entertaing bus queues here can be.
A lady sidled up to me and whispered in my ear. She was commenting on the fact that a lady was wearing flip flops in torrential rain.
The queue then joined in the conversation, which developed into discussions about young men wearing shorts in the snow (a common occurrence here) and many other interesting topics.

To my horror, on the way back home, the river had burst its banks and the road was flooded at the very spot, forty years ago, where the son of one of my mum's friends was swept into the river and died.
It was not the best of days.

I've just received a tearful message from DD. Her sister in law in the USA has died from multiple organ failure. This is the lady, who had heart surgery and her foot amputated a few days ago.
I shall have to go and see my son in law, whose mother also died at Christmas. I just don't know what to say,
He hasn't seen her for a number of years, due to Covid and is devasted he never got to say goodbye.

Wishing you all the best of days and so lovely to hear Anniebach's news.

Grandmadinosaur Thu 22-Dec-22 08:01:37

Good morning all from East Yorkshire.

What a nasty experience for you Mick I think you’d be wise to take it easy today.

Great photo Ash thank you for posting.

That sounds like a lovely day ahead for you brook enjoy the afternoon tea.

Thinking of a gran for whom it will be a difficult day today. 💐

We had a wonderful day at the garden centre yesterday with GS. I’ve got some very festive photos as there are a lot of photo opportunities there.

Today I’m going on a turkey hunt. After watching the programme last night about the M&S one I’ll start there. I’m not panicking about it if I can’t get one. It’s just DH who says you have to have turkey 😕
I also have a click and collect at the local Boots. If I feel like it I will make sausage rolls if not I’ll do them tomorrow for DH and DSs Christmas party. Just the 2 of them in DS bar!

Have a good day everyone.

Gala Thu 22-Dec-22 08:00:48

Good morning all from a damp & dismal Sefton. Sorry to hear of your collapse Mick, take it easy today.
Zoom exercise masterclass will kick off my morning. Then we will collect ingredients ordered from the fish man for a seafood platter. Yum. No plans for the rest of the day.
Take care all.

karmalady Thu 22-Dec-22 07:58:36

Good morning from s somerset and I too am so happy that we have turned the corner into longer lighter days

Yesterday I finished my sock presents and made a whole tray of plain buttery scones as I had an urge to eat a cream tea over christmas. The scones are quickly frozen and not tasted. I needed some milk and feel blessed that I could buy some organic milk, just a few minutes walk away. Sometimes I really do pinch myself about taking the sensible decision when I moved

I unearthed my small weights, I am finished shifting heavy weights such as compost and furniture and I did a few bits of strength training and some aerobic bounces to tide me over to spring

A peaceful day to all

GrannyGravy13 Thu 22-Dec-22 07:54:09

Morning all

Mick I do hope you are better and rested today after your fright yesterday.

grandMattie it sounds like you are having a busy but good time at your DD”s.

Ashcombe it must be good to be out and about again.

It’s foggy here in S E Essex, I have no need to go out today.
My dear cleaning fairies are here this morning, I will transfer the grown ups gifts from various hiding places to under the big Christmas tree and assemble all the GC’s gifts in one place so they can be brought downstairs late Christmas Eve once I am sure they will not be popping in for a visit until the big fat man in the red suit has been

A big (((hug))) to dear Anniebach who is embarking on a new chapter in her life. Wishing you well dearest friend xx

Have a good Christmas Eve Eve Eve (sorry silly family joke) 🎄🤶🎁🙋‍♀️

Greyduster Thu 22-Dec-22 07:53:05

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where there is a streak of red in the Eastern sky. Mick what an awful experience for you. Please, look after yourself. My nephew and his wife came over yesterday with a box of old family photos he had promised to let me look through. There were some surprises; photos of my father when he was in the Army during the war; old school photos of me😂; relatives of ours and friends of Peter’s mum and dad that I was able to put names to as Peter didn’t know who they were. There was also my old platoon photo and I was surprised how many of the girls I served with I could still put a name to after nearly sixty years! He has left them with me so that I can get some of them scanned, but I’ll have to sort them all out first - a pleasant task for the new year! DS is going home tomorrow so if there are any last minute jobs I need him to do, today is the day!
Lovely photo Ash.
Warmest thoughts to all who are struggling today.
Have the best day you can folks.

ginny Thu 22-Dec-22 07:51:46

Good morning.
Mick hope you are feeling better. Maybe a quiet day would be good for you.
A finishing off day for us. Ice the cake, finish wrapping, last minute food shopping among others.
Wishing all a good day.

dragonfly46 Thu 22-Dec-22 07:49:01

Good morning from dark breezy Leicestershire.

Sorry to hear about your collapse Mick.
It must feel wonderful to be getting back to normal Ash.
How lovely to spend the day with your DGD Mattie, mine Face timed me yesterday unexpectedly having learnt to do it on her iPad!

Today while the car is being checked out at the garage I have a humongous Ocado delivery coming. I am not sure where to put everything!

Hoping everyone has a good day but my thoughts are especially with HalloGirl.

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 22-Dec-22 07:48:26

Good morning all from Harrogate still dark so don’t know what’s outside.
What a fright you must have had Mick glad you took it easy the rest of the day.
Beautiful picture Ash. You seem to be recovered now from your op?
Good that you are having family time now GrandMattie.
Our wifi was down yesterday have yet to find if it’s much better today!
I’ve lost my favourite specs! They are hiding in my bed, I hope, so will have to do a strip search later!
Yesterday was a quiet day apart from meeting up with some friends in the afternoon for coffee in Valley Gardens.
Hoping to go to the station today to find out about trains next week to Newcastle. Online it tells me I have to take 4 buses, taking 4 hours, which is more than twice what the train takes!
On the other hand I may have DGD, DD has now got the cough that I had and might want a quick rest!
Have the best day possible folks

Urmstongran Thu 22-Dec-22 07:43:46

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s still dark as sunrise isn’t for another hour. It’s damp out.

We’re off over those Pennines today, going through Saddleworth Moor into Yorkshire to visit eldest daughter and soon to be son-in-law. We are exchanging presents from all the family as they are heading down Oxford way for Christmas to spend it with his parents. My stepfather was hoping to come along too but he rang me yesterday to say a crown had fallen off his front tooth and he has secured an emergency appointment this lunchtime to have it put back!
Shame really as he was looking forward to the run out.

Enjoy Thursday all who can. I think we get an extra 2 minutes of daylight hours today - don’t waste them.
😁

NanKate Thu 22-Dec-22 07:43:32

Good morning Mick and All.

We need a lorry to fit in all our bags and gifts today for our trip down to the coast to stay with DS and his blended family for a week!! Fortunately we all get on well together and DH and I sneak out on occasions to get a bit of peace.

Stay safe and warm. A friend’s family who live in Denver said artic weather has hit them it could be as low as -21 degrees today ❄️☃️

brook2704 Thu 22-Dec-22 07:34:53

Good morning everyone from Cambridge where it looks a bit damp and misty
Sorry to hear about your collapse yesterday mick please have a quiet day today and rest
Sounds like you’re having a lovely time in Bristol gMattie so pleased for you
This morning I think we’re off out for a winter walk somewhere and then we’re all having a festive afternoon tea at one of the hotels in Cambridge.
Hoping the water pressure isn’t causing too many problems sunshine and is fixed soon
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 22-Dec-22 07:25:50

Morning all from a mild West Oxfordshire. The cleaning ladies are coming this morning. When they’ve finished I will decorate the Christmas cake. I haven’t decided on a design yet but I’m sure something will come to me! OH will collect younger son from Oxford this evening - I’m picking up daughter tomorrow morning. Elder son and his family will arrive on Christmas morning. I will make a bolognaise sauce for dinner. Something easy to heat up when required. Probably curry tomorrow night when daughter is here for dinner. I hope the final present will be delivered today. I still haven’t received my Private Eye from last week. I’m thinking of those of you with difficulties at the moment.

SunshineSally Thu 22-Dec-22 07:23:30

Good morning everyone from a still dark south Hants.
Gosh Mick what a scary thing to happen - please take it easy today.
Glad to read you’re able to get out and about Ashcombe - enjoy your trip to Lidl.
Yesterday was so busy … I did our food shop … came home and then DH went and did the food shop for his parents, whilst I entertained two of the GDs that we were looking after.
Today I’m hoping to make some Viennese biscuits - or at least make the biscuits and chocolate buttercream and put them together tomorrow. Also some admin and a blitz on a couple of bedrooms.
We’ve been affected by very low pressure in our water, so will pick up some water from one of the water stations they’ve set up today. Southern Water are sending out automated text messages and expect it last another 48 hours - which probably means at least a week!!
Have the best day you can - thinking of those thar are poorly in body and spirit 🦩🦩🦩
Hugs and 💐 for you all x

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 22-Dec-22 07:14:28

For got to say good morning to Anniebach enjoy your day

baubles Thu 22-Dec-22 07:09:50

Good morning Mick, I hope you feel much better today. Morning all from damp South Lanarkshire.

We’re off to DS’s today, their little one has turned a corner and is now recovering.

DH and I now have hacking coughs!

Have the best day possible everyone.

Grammaretto Thu 22-Dec-22 07:06:00

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Dark but not cold.
What a horrid experience for you Mick. and when there were no ambulances too.

Lovely day for you gMattie I t must be nice to be in the bosom of your family after your trials this year.
Beautiful photo and a super walk Ash . You must be feeling better.

DMiL came to the community lunch yesterday probably for the last time as she'll be moving in the New Year. It was very festive, friendly, busy and delicious.

Sadly I heard that DH's friend, who wrote a lovely poem when DH died, has himself died. Another family in mourning.

I have an early dentist appointment again so mustn't miss the bus.
Hoping the day goes well for you all.

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 22-Dec-22 07:02:04

Good morning from a dark and chilly Oxfordshire .
That sounds so scary Mick it might be a good idea to have a rest day today.
We had a lovely early Christmas Day yesterday, nephew didn’t arrive until last night and took his dinner home, presumably he will eat it today, he was all smiles for once so that was a relief.
MzOops and family will leave later today, hopefully avoiding the hoards that will be leaving London and heading to Cornwall tomorrow.
LittleMissOops has decided that she will now use her middle name in future, she already goes by this name since she left school and went to 6th form college. It’s taking some time to get used to. I was glared at quite a bit yesterday as I struggled to remember! But I did the same thing to my parents in my 30s, my family nickname wasn’t what I wanted to be known by and they managed ok, (they should have been pleased that I wanted to use my real, unwieldy and hard to spell Christian name.) so I will try my very best to remember.
Hairdresser coming this morning, let’s hope the bathroom will be free when it comes to me having to rinse my colour out. With all of these adults wandering around I will need to hang my head over the bath and not use the shower.
So lovely that you are having a good time GM
Ash your convalescence is going really well.
Have a good day everyone.
I’ll pop back later and read everyone else’s posts.

cornergran Thu 22-Dec-22 06:40:05

Morning Mick, morning All from a decidedly damp corner of Somerset

All tasks completed yesterday there will be a short foray to a supermarket and very little else other than a phone chat to a good friend this afternoon.

That sounds frightening mick, hope today is much easier for you.

Special thoughts to those with worries and a hope that Thursday is kind to us all.

Kalu Thu 22-Dec-22 06:17:04

Good morning all from Glasgow where it is still dark outside but feeling milder and the dreaded frost has gone

What a frightening experience for you Mick. I do hope your BP continues to be normal. It may be best not to go out today if you are feeling in any way unsure/unwell. Take care.

Wifi trouble for thé last two days but up and running again since a new router was installed.
Hairdressers yesterday and final Waitrose/M&S visit planned for tomorrow. The roads are busy but I haven’t found the usual shopping frenzy this year as stores are unusually quieter.

Best wishes to all for a good day and signs of improvement for those with worrying times.

grandMattie Thu 22-Dec-22 06:11:21

Good morning from a dark and possibly drizzly Bristol.
I’m so sorry about your collapse, Mick, and it was really bad luck it was during the ambulance strike. Hope you are feeling a bit better now.
We had a busy day with making gingerbread houses; one big one and three little ones.
Iris went out all afternoon having revealed surprise invitation to the pantomime by one of her aunts who couldn’t attend. I was left with DD1, who was great company. We iced ginger biscuit after putting the houses together. Decoration today.
DSiL other sister cam3 to dinner with her family and I gave the little one her ginger cat pyjama case. She was beside herself and told me of the multiple uses it would have, far more interesting than stuffing with pyjamas!
Hope everyone keeps well, especially you Mick, and has @ good day. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

Ashcombe Thu 22-Dec-22 06:07:08

Good morning from a mild and dry Torbay after overnight rain.

Sorry to hear about you collapsing yesterday, Mick, on the worst day to need an ambulance. I hope you have fully recovered now.

Yesterday, we walked over Babbacombe Downs, where the Winter sun made interesting colours on the sea (see photo). One of the pubs was offering mulled wine so it would have been rude not to sample some! Later, I finally finished putting up the decorations before my lovely ex-neighbour called round for an overdue catch up over a glass or two.

We plan to be up and out to Lidl soon, which will be my first visit there in two months!

Enjoy whatever the day brings! 🦩🎅🏼🎄⛄️🦩
