I have just prepared all the veggies for twenty of us tomorrow (potatoes, parsnips, sprouts, carrots and broccoli) made two different stuffings (one veggie, one sausage meat).

House is sparkling, eldest son is sorting out our wi-fi and Sky, DiL is laying down upstairs and I am on the sofa with a latte and two mince pies (late breakfast) I am refusing to move for at least an hour 🤣🤣🤣

Wishing you all a peaceful Christmas, however you are spending it 🎄🤶🎅🏻😘

DDiL has just been diagnosed with COVID. DS and family were due to come to us on 27th for a week. We already knew DDiL wasnt coming this year because her mother needs her, and DDiL is not ill, just COVID positive. But DS and DGC's visit depends on none of them catching it.

As with others, everything is stocked up and ready for a week of feeding six people. When they are with us, I do not to want to waste any time food shopping.

Meanwhile DD is with us, so Christmas day will go as planned, it is the bit after. Anyone want some spare panto tickets if the visit is cancelled!!!!!!!

My host for Christmas came down with a tummy bug ! She is better , dinner on again !

He got better , dinner on !
Then he got urgent call to have bloods done as something had shown up at last diabetic clinic , off to A+E , poked prodded , bloods done ,, he’s home fit as a fiddle , bloods done , nothing amiss ,
I won’t be fit to eat , with all the alarms !

I hope that those of you who like a quiet Christmas will have a wonderful time. I had my first quiet one in 2020 for obvious reasons. It wasn’t for me and the plans are to include as many family members as possible. My DD1 is quite unwell but refuses to give in. She entertained her in laws yesterday and will be here tomorrow. Then we go to her on Boxing Day. There may be a few germs transmitted!

Bluebelle I applaud you. So many do it here and I’m not about to join in, too cold at the best of times I blame the hypothyroidism and the low doses of thyroxine I’m currently on but that’s a whole other story 😅
Have a wonderful Christmas Sago and sorry it’s not gone to plan.
In fact everyone have a wonderful Christmas.

I am in your camp Barmeyoldbat, your Christmas's sound brilliant.

When we both working we had every other Christmas on our own by telling everyone we had made other plans. We would unplug the phone and go out hiking up some mountain, come back move the table in front of the telly and eat our Christmas dinner watching a film. Bliss

Congrats BlueBelle. I love the idea of swimming in the sea in the winter, but you actually do it!
We just had a DGS “Can I bring my girlfriend tomorrow?” call.
I’ve lost the plot because all I could think of to say was, “Yes, of course. Does she like sprouts and trifle?”
Would you have managed better?

I’m very impressed BlueBelle. I wish I had that much…resilience. The swim must give you so much satisfaction, sense of achievement and energy.

There seems to be a lot of illness about. My entire family all have dreadful colds and coughs. It looks like a quiet Christmas here.

My daughter rang yesterday to say that her partner is ill, and so can't drive down (London to Cornwall), so they and my two granddaughters can't come. It isn't Covid. She thought about bringing the two children down by train but that would have been so difficult for her especially leaving him alone when he is so ill. I'm sure she has made the right decision, so I'm only cooking for five not nine tomorrow and hopefully they will come down for a long weekend when he is better. So, slightly less work to do, but with some sadness.

Our plans have changed, guests that were due today sadly can no longer come due to illness.
I now have absolutely nothing to do!
Work is over until the New Year, fridge is full, laundry and ironing baskets empty and the house immaculate and finally dressed for Christmas.
Today I can potter and watch a film tomorrow we are planning a hike and dinner in the evening.
This is our first ever Christmas alone and I cannot wait.
We just have to stay lurgy free🤞.
Are you all feeling as calm and positive or is your Christmas Eve going to be frantic?
