My daughter, love her, got 6 dozen unshucked oysters flown down from Merimbula for our Christmas dinner entree. They were to die for, just so fresh with a squeeze of lemon juice and black pepper. Everyone brings something so we had a lot but that was so special. I should say that it is very traditional to have seafood at Christmas in Australia.
What is/was your favourite?

I had no breakfast but a very early first course prawn cocktail very 70s and a Dry Martini.

Had a chest infection and couldn’t face anything but this morning have had some tea and a shortbread biscuit and they tasted delicious!

The roast beef was to die for - daughter did it to perfection. And the broccoli cheese - yummy 😋

Free range chicken, stuffing, pigs in blankets, yorkshires, sprouts, roast potatoes and parsnips. Followed by homemade Sticky toffee pudding with vanilla custard. All cooked by DD and absolutely delicious 😋

You can’t beat British raspberries, they are gorgeous. So much more flavour than ours which ripen too quickly in our hot sun.
We went to the Lake District in 2019 and couldn’t stop eating them. We had some mangos , now they are something that are lovely here because they do like hot sun.

Very traditional English turkey roast here. TH did Jamie's bareback potatoes which were very nice. Xmas pud which has been maturing for two years was lovely.

I had such a great crop of raspberries this year...lots of jam, and the last of the harvest I made into a raspberry balsamic vinegar sauce to go with ice cream. It was simply heavenly. The DGC adore berries of all kinds, so they were back for seconds, even little Will, who had spent most of Christmas Day in A&E with a broken arm...

I love pigs in blankets but DH bought chipolatas to have with the turkey crown from Lidl, along with the bacon with which I had covered it. DIY pigs!! The turkey was perfect - so moist! I had squeezed lemon juice liberally over it before cooking.

Grandmadinosaur

I agree with you there Wyllow there’s a few cooked ones left to go on the turkey butties when we can manage to eat again 🤢
the remaining uncooked ones will be Boxing Day breakfast 😀

I've 3 left for a butty.....

Cheese on toast!

All the family coming tomorrow for turkey etc

Grammaretto Sun 25-Dec-22 21:19:49

It was the first Christmas meal I have cooked since DH died in 2020.
I was nervous especially as I have a new cooker, but it turned out really well.
The best thing was a vegan casserole of chestnuts, mushrooms and red wine .
It was all gobbled up.
I also cooked a chicken with all the trimmings for the carnivores.
SiL brought the pudding.

Eggs Benedict and buck’s fizz for breakfast.

My husband cooked this year, for the first time ever, as I’m non-weight bearing after ankle surgery. His roast potatoes were epic and much better than I’ve ever managed and I’m thought of as a cook! A lovely meal with our son. To be repeated on 04 Jan when my daughter gets home, so I’m told.

Grandma70s Sun 25-Dec-22 19:32:21

Traditional Christmas meal made by my sons with every possible extra, most of the vegetables home grown by them; the roast potatoes were especially poetic.

GagaJo Sun 25-Dec-22 19:07:23

My roast potatoes. I used smaller spuds than usual and they were gorg. Mmm

Farmor15 Sun 25-Dec-22 18:54:29

Just finished a lovely dinner of roast goose, ham, roast potatoes (done in goose fat) red cabbage +other veg. Shared with husband and 2 sons. Other ACs with own families. Relaxing to have adult Christmas

Ooh, Mollygo, I was just thinking of making some for the 27th, when the hordes will be descending. I have streaky bacon but only a tin of prunes. Do you think they’d work if well drained? I’m def. not setting foot in a shop for several days!

I don’t know, but probably, if they’re drained. My best success was putting them on tinfoil this year, instead of scrrraping them off the tin last year.
Let me know if it works.

Christmas dinner today cooked by my sister. Perfect.

Everything I’ve eaten - I wasn’t involved in the shopping for it, and my wonderful g’son has taken over the kitchen today. We’re not having a traditional meal, my daughter is working today, so timing would be awkward. It’s an ongoing buffet, he just keeps producing plates/bowls of different foods, some hot, some cold.
My contribution is tidying up, and the dishwasher. Nice easy, lazy Christmas 😁

Rosalyn69 Sun 25-Dec-22 18:02:34

We went out for Christmas lunch. The delight was sticky toffee pudding instead of Christmas pudding.

lixy Sun 25-Dec-22 17:23:55

I really enjoyed my Christmas breakfast croissant - a very rare treat indeed.

Wyllow3 Sun 25-Dec-22 17:20:54

Having a please myself day so non traditional.

But the one traditional thing I did, were some crumbly crispy roast parsnips.

Grandmadinosaur I think pigs in blankets are nicer than the Turkey, and my freezer has some when my tummy has space.

MrsKen33 Sun 25-Dec-22 17:19:42

Well so far ,since DD is poorly and we were going there, scrambled eggs on toast.
