What are your plans for New Years Eve?

I'm watching Zulu in the afternoon, have dinner, bit of telly and in bed by 10pm. I live alone so don't see the point of sitting on my own until midnight. I'm just hoping the fireworks don't upset the dog or I'll be back out of bed again.

Will be in bed with my little cat, a book & the radio on to try to drown out the fireworks that scare her. Thanks to my meds I am usually asleep by 10-10.30pm! Havent seen New Year in for years now!

A sit down meal and party games at the local pub with all our neighbours - we book the pub out every Hogmanay

We usually watch Jools Holland and have a quiet drink to see in the new year. This year we are having all the family for the Christmas (now New Year) dinner which was cancelled due to Covid. Presents are still sitting here ready to be opened. I’m really looking forward to it.

We always cook something nice with a glass of Prosecco. Last year we watched and enjoyed Jools Holland so will do the same this year unless we are baby sitting at the last minute. I refuse to pay to get into our local pub .
Our best NYEs were when the children were young. We had parties with silly games, people stayed and after a hearty breakfast on New Year’s Day went for a long walk. Things change but the memories are there. My daughter put a request on Radio 2 for me one year on NYE . Angels by Robbie Williams . Wonderful !!

I love NYE much more than Christmas. It has a long secular past which suits us more than a religious history. It's the end of one chapter and the start of a new one.
We'll be at a friends house with others, probably 16 of us. A lovely evening that we always enjoy.
I wish all you GN's a happy and peaceful time in the year to come, and hope that all humans can improve their attitudes to fellow humans.

Going over my Db’s to watch. Ds is going too. Looking forward to it.
We love Jools. We also go every year to see him and his rhythm and blues band. Brilliant night out.

Our closest friends, a lovely couple, are coming round for the evening. We'll have an early supper, a few drinks, some chats, probably a silly game or two then they'll leave at about 12.05. All very relaxed & comfy

I'll spend the evening with my youngest daughter, along with her husband, their 2 children, 2 of my other grandchildren (their mum is working NYE) and possibly my dad, my mum passed away 2 months ago. We'll chat, play games and no doubt be entertained by the children.

It was never anything in my family so hasn't really been since then. A WhatsApp with family sometime and hoping there is a good film on.

I remember staying up all night millennium Nye as we'd just got sky TV and novelty of all night round the world TV was great!
Usually we used to go to local pub who had a brilliant jazz ensemble who did jazz/covers funny songs too! Fantastic atmosphere and company! .......all went downhill and finally pub now a druggie flophouse.why? The live music license leapt from £150/pa to over 3k !! Then smoking ban.... nobody wanted to sit in rain cold or snow and miss the fun inside! Mostly though it was the music/performance licence that put a stop to great bands like Kurt Coconut and nirbanana//The Dopey Sundays/ jazz bands etc just turning up and jamming too! Greed kicked all the stuffing out of a fun time on our doorstep. Now? Rubbish TV and bo-bos by midnight cursing idiots letting off bangers all night long!!

It will be DH and myself watching the fireworks on TV, counting down to midnight, a chink of our glasses of fizz (mini bottle of cava). After that "up the wooden hill" [to Bedfordshire] as my mother used to say. We lived in Glasgow for 15 years when we were in our 30s/40s) and Hogmanay came as quite a cultural shock when we first moved there. "First footing" round the neighbourhood, bottle of whisky in hand, way into the early hours.

I find a new year coming in rather daunting, always have. I know it sounds miserable, but the thought of it looming up puts me off. The only year I really celebrated was the millennium, which happened to be the year my mother died.
So a quiet one planned so far, but not averse to something cropping up. I’m v tired after many Xmas visitors over the season, which I love, so a quiet one will suit me.

No, I don't make a big thing of New Year - I did when I was younger but I haven't the inclination or the energy these days. I'll probably go to bed fairly late as is usual but I won't be attending parties.

Will be asleep in a chair with a drink in hand I guess, just like we always do.😄

Scarcely ever in bed before midnight anyway, but we will See the Old Year Out, as my grandmother used to say, DW probably with a Cointreau, me with an Islay malt.

I have never liked New Years Eve. This year I'll be watching the fireworks on TV , if there are any, whilst trying to calm my dogs from actual fireworks outside. No doubt Mr Jory will be sound asleep on the sofa.

we've been invited for drinks and nibbles but we will most probably just stay in and watch Jools bloody Holland

We've had a houseful of family, including several dogs and grandchildren coming and going and still have one guest staying until tomorrow. Lovely but exhausting as I'm only a few weeks on from an operation. So a couple of our neighbours are coming for early drinks and nibbles then just the two of us and that suits me fine!

Nibbles champagne bed by midnight. Our way and we enjoy it. X

Since last Thursday we have been at our DS’s house helping him and his partner look after 3 ill children, one of which is in hospital, hopefully to be released today. Coughing, sickness and worse from them all.

However we have turned a corner today so hopefully we will be released tomorrow. 🥳🥳

We'll have a quiet evening in as usual I guess.

The ships in the harbour all sound their horns at midnight so certainly won't be sleeping through! It's lovely.
