Everyone has been very kind and generous but often people misjudge what things you will like.
I keep a box of unused presents that I cannot regift. This year I added shower gel, body scrub, candles, a sewing set and a jigsaw.
Did you get anythings you won't use?

It was my birthday at the beginning of December and DH bought me a small handbag, of a design l might not have chosen myself, with a pretty necklace inside. I gave him some ideas for Christmas but no notice was taken so I was slightly bemused to receive a huge handbag, again in a style l almost certainly would not have chosen, containing a silver chain. I was told it was for the necklace l received for my birthday and much better quality than the chain that was already on it. Still, it is far better than the memorable Christmas when my grandfather gave my grandmother a chip pan for her Christmas present. He somehow survived….

I love them, my favourite chocs so Mr. S. always buys me some for Christmas. I'm more than happy to take them off your hands for the sake of your DH's health Callistemon.

Nothing unwanted this year, but I did last and donated to our local RNIB, as tombola prizes.

pandapatch Wed 28-Dec-22 12:02:25

People also keep buying me gin, because they know it's my favourite tipple, which is kind, but I have enough to last for the rest of the year!!!!

Callistemon21 Wed 28-Dec-22 11:59:52

Lynne has a massive box of Ferrero Rocher, which neither of us likes
Oh, just remembered that I bought a large box of these to take on Christmas Day.
They're still here, I don't like them much either. DH does but they're not good for him 😀

Smileless2012 Wed 28-Dec-22 11:56:08

You're not alone Maw our lovely girls our neighbours, bought us a bottle of gin eachblush.

Fleurpepper Wed 28-Dec-22 11:53:03

Honestly, we stopped buying presents for all like this- by mutual agreement. Of course ACs and GCs- and for the rest of family, only if we spend Christmas together. It is such a huge commercial nonsense, and so much waste due to above as in title. What is the point?

TBsNana Wed 28-Dec-22 11:48:17

yes - COVID!!!! and because of the dire viral thingy nothing else at all! Bah Humbug....

glammagran Wed 28-Dec-22 11:43:59

I loved mine but got very few as the older AC were not doing presents this year. Laptop and molton brown toiletries from DH, Louis Roederer champagne and Jo Malone toiletries from the (very wealthy) relatives from Luxembourg. A lovely carriage clock from youngest DD - we bypassed the no present rule. Best of all the annual calendar of the youngest GC.

Bubble bath. We have a walk in shower!

Grandmadinosaur Wed 28-Dec-22 11:39:59

I’m like you bigbertha as regards shower gels, smellies but all in my two favourite brands. DH also does me a stocking filled with every day stuff ie deodorants, make up wipes, dove soap. I don’t think I need to visit Bodycare at all this year 🤣

henetha Wed 28-Dec-22 11:37:37

Yes, Dickens, it is the Tardis teapot and mug, both with lids.
It's rather lovely in a way, well made anyway. I suppose I could use it occasionally. It would be a talking point! smile

MawtheMerrier Wed 28-Dec-22 11:36:37

People will keep buying me gin! grin
I would not say it's unwanted (as if!) but what does it say about me? D 2 bought me Rhubarb gin for my birthday back in March, D3 a "variety" pack of three small bottles for Mothers Day and D1 bought me a huge bottle plus dried orange slices and tonic for Christmas.
Do I really have that reputation?

LRavenscroft Wed 28-Dec-22 11:36:09

This year I told friends I was supporting a charity instead of cards or gifts. Friend in US no longer having to spend $50 on gift and my return goes instead to charity.

Hellogirl1 Wed 28-Dec-22 11:35:33

I used to love chocolate, still like it, but not as avidly, but I got 4 large boxes of Black Magic. Also a pack of 4 bottles of apple cider, which I hate, but they`re from one of my grandsons and his fiancee. Lynne has a massive box of Ferrero Rocher, which neither of us likes.

Too many biscuits. One nice selection, I will take to "my Chemo Girls", on my next visit to hospital. Another will take to. Church for the monthly coffee mornings after the service.

OH and I don't give each other Christmas or birthday presents and just get ourselves what we want during the year. However the kids got us both some lovely things. OH is currently trying to finish a very difficult jigsaw they got him. I got the smellies I love and from friends and other relatives gin, prosecco, gift vouchers and lovely little treats. Everything was very welcome and not one thing unwanted.

Very odd Turkish beach mat don’t want to unroll it as it looks like someone will love it …. Just not me

Cabbie21 Wed 28-Dec-22 11:28:58

Too many chocolates for two diabetics.

Smelly reed diffuser.

Farzanah Wed 28-Dec-22 11:23:03

I told a friend I don’t like home made mince pies, but prefer M&S ones.
She gave me a tin of…………..her own home made mince pies. OH is so happy.

I had lovely presents a fitbit from son and Strictly live tickets and promise of lunch before from Daughter.
Other than that I had 2 pairs of fleece lined socks, 3 shawl scarves and 5 handcreams - but will use them all.

Zoejory Wed 28-Dec-22 11:04:53

I keep everything. Not for a huge amount of use for a 5000 piece jigsaw, but who knows. Maybe one day!

tanith Wed 28-Dec-22 10:59:37

We too had no gifts policy except children so nice meals out in the next month or so.

Redhead56 Wed 28-Dec-22 10:50:55

😂 that’s so funny a self help book! Oh dear whoever gave that is having a laugh. I tell a particular friend constantly that I don’t buy biscuits as I usually make my own yet every year I receive the biggest tin of biscuits. I gift them to the food bank along with tins of crackers and boxes of chocolates.
Gifts such as manicure sets or other things I don’t need get put away to give as gifts the following year. I have to try and remember who gave me the gift in the first place!

DaisyAlice Wed 28-Dec-22 10:50:22

Daughter did give me a lovely Christmas bouquet for hosting lunch though thanks
