Hello smile
We haven’t had a Night Owls thread for ages, so I thought I’d start one.
I know that there are quite a few of us about in the wee small hours, and it can be a lonely time.
So here it is.
I look forward to chatting in the nights and weeks to come x

Awake a couple of hours now and wondered if there were other owls awake, although it's a good sign that the usual Owls are sleeping. There is a limit to how much dreadful news I can read, so I come to GN to read the threads offering compassion, support and humour.

Still busy clearing my ex's house in preparation for sale. I'm up to getting quotes from decorators, so not too much longer.

The weather in Cheshire has been lovely the past few days. The snowdrops and daffodils are out in the woods and the hazels are heavy with catkins. I shall walk there before tackling today's tasks.

Morning all. It's windy here at the minute, I love lying in bed listening to it, although the dog has me up and out of it none stop for a week as she has colitis and the meds the vet gave me aren't working as fast as I'd hoped.
Hope the house clearing is getting there Ginny
I'm going to try to get another hour, hope you are all are having a lovely sleep.

I never used to eat in the evening but I feel hungry in the night. Was it Horlicks that was advertised as ā€˜ the food drink of the night’? And yet, when I was doing the 16: 8 diet I wasn’t hungry. Then again I was just watching catchup tv in the evening at that time and I’m now staying up decluttering ( when I’m not sleeping for 12 hours at a stretch that is. I’m dog sitting at my daughters next week, though, so I might get back into a routine then ( although what that routine will be is open to question!). I’m not there yet, tv wise. He’s just coming out to advise me today but will, hopefully sort out my catchup tv. I think my current dog is a problem. The previous one slept through the night but this one wakes up for a wee quite often. Even though she’ll go for hours during the day. It might just be a habit with her but I can’t ignore her in case she really does need to go out. She’s only had one accident since she’s been house trained and that was when I ignored her because I thought she was attention seeking ( she is a bit of a diva).

I'm now awake for the second time. I wonder sometimes if I'm hungry in the night as I woke up had a drink, some toast and tomatoes. did a crossword, fell sound asleep and just woke up again.

Great that you'll have your TVs working again today MayBee70, I don't watch much on TV at the moment, although there's a fabulous series of documentaries on Netflix about famous artists and I'm enjoying that.

Time for a cuppa. xx

I ā€˜ve got the tv guy coming at 10 so I’m having to tidy up the rooms he’s got to go in. I fell asleep yesterday at @ 4 and slept through till now, apart from a couple of trips to the loo. I even slept through quiz night on BBC. I have a vague recollection of shouting out one of the answers on Mastermind but that’s it! Even the dog slept through. My sleep pattern is completely bonkers but I need more sleep than I used to these days. My relaxation tapes don’t seem to be helping me to sleep any more. But I think that’s because I’m having the occasional drink of caffeinated coffee. Hopefully, in a few hours, I’ll have a working tv in each room and catchup tv again. I’m quite excited.

Toilet break gets me up around now - gone back to bed, but feel quite wide awake.

Hello Ginny42 and others night owl reporting in with too many whattifferies going on

Ginny42 Tue 14-Feb-23 03:01:19

Hoping Owls are sleeping, but thought I'd leave a message in case anyone else is whiling away the early morning hours reading GN threads. It's like reading a magazine to me and keeps me quietly occupied reading about other people's lives.

Only just going to try to sleep now as I felt unsettled last night. Enjoyed the film Toscana on Netflix and now feel I may fall sleep. I certainly need to sleep. Goodnight any owls out there. x

MayBee70 Sun 12-Feb-23 06:14:33

Well, I was sleeping really well till just now but the dog wanted to go out. I think I’ll get back to sleep easily, though. I’m so tired….

Ginny42 Sun 12-Feb-23 05:25:24

Good morning Owls. I've been awake for some time but managed to lie for a while just resting. Now my brain is switched on to a spelling bee and I've almost completed it.

Hope you are all sleeping, but if you're awake that you're not feeling unwell or stressing.

I took a day off from house clearing yesterday, but must go back later today. I've got a workman starting there tomorrow and must have at least the back bedroom completely clear for decorating.

Alioop Sat 11-Feb-23 18:54:36

MayBee I'm like you and always have some Pro Kolin so I'm hoping it helps soon as she takes a lot of meds for epilepsy and her kidneys and I'm worried they aren't getting in her system. I think I'm in for another sleepless night ahead.
That's great Ginny, your niece will be a pro at house clearing by the sounds of it. I worked my way up the property ladder too, but I love where I am now and what I've done to my home so I'm happy to stay in this one. I don't think I've another refurb in me now either 😁

My dog get a bad tum every now and again. Strikes out of the blue and it’s exhausting. The first time it happened I phoned the vet and asked for an appointment for the following day. The receptionist insisted that I brought her in that day and got angry when I said I couldn’t because not only was I not safe to drive having had no sleep but my doors and windows had been painted and I couldn’t leave the house unlocked. I changed vets after that. I always keep pro kolin in stock and gastrointestinal food. What makes it worse is that she doesn’t like using her patch of the garden when it happens and gets distressed about it. It happened again this week. No change if diet etc. Then it won’t happen again for months and months.

Alioop my niece who is helping me a lot has done what you've done- buying, gutting and selling after two or three years to do the same again. Each time they've gone more upmarket. I'm benefitting a lot from her experience now.

Maya1 Hope you've slept and that the covid symptoms are less severe now. Also that your DH is showing further signs of improvement. flowers

MayBee70 Sat 11-Feb-23 07:15:10

I assume Ivy is a dog?

Alioop Sat 11-Feb-23 06:02:47

Good morning all. I've been up all night with Ivy and her tummy, she's been in and out to the garden all night. Ginny I'm sure you are exhausted, packing up a house is a lot of work. I used to renovate a house, pack up after 1-2 years and do up another. The last time I moved was 3 years ago and I'll never do it again. Hope you are feeling better Maya and Covid free.

Ginny42 Sat 11-Feb-23 02:32:28

Good morning to any owls out there. Slept for about 4 hours so when I woke for the bathroom there was no settling down. I did try briefly, but once the thoughts start up, there's no more sleeping for me.

I'm not exactly distressed going through my ex's belongings and indeed some which are mine, but it's tiring, I will be glad when it's all done and on the market. Discovered a leak under the kitchen sink yesterday and had to get a plumber to go Monday. I'm having a day off today.

NotSpaghetti Fri 10-Feb-23 08:16:42

Thanks MayBee70 no, all fine, I was just awake.
By the time I'd decided to say hello on here I must have been ready to drop off again! Already morning now!

MayBee70 Fri 10-Feb-23 07:51:34

Very few series have satisfying endings. The English and Peaky Blinders being the exception imo. I haven’t got round to watching Breaking Bad yet though.

Ginny42 Fri 10-Feb-23 06:02:45

I've been watching the final episode of a Korean series on Netflix and was so disappointed I was saying Really? That's it? That's the end? That is it? Not what I expected at all! I guess it's more realistic that not all stories end happily.

MayBee70 Fri 10-Feb-23 05:51:17

The good thing is when I woke up I remembered that there was a programme about The Cure on Sky Arts. I missed the first half but caught the second.

Maya1 Fri 10-Feb-23 05:43:45

Morning Owls
I have always wanted to live by the sea, Mrs Ken. Instead I have spent the majority of my life in the fens.
We use to have 2 bases nearby but they closed down years ago so very quiet here now.
Finn is set in his ways, so we go out at around 7.00am each morning. He also won't go with anyone else but me.

Ginny42 Fri 10-Feb-23 05:40:39

Morning all. MrsKen33 I'm trying to imagine what that sounds like! Landing on the beach? You won't be the only one awake I guess.

Walking in the woods by me the other day we met a young woman who says she walks her dog there in the dark before she goes on her early shift. I couldn't stop myself urging her not to. I walk with my neighbours sometimes just so one of them is not alone.

Ginny42 Fri 10-Feb-23 05:33:25

Morning NotSpaghetti. Hope you're not awake because you're unwell or worried.

Not noticed the sunrise, but the sunsets have been spectacular recently. Did you see them?

There's been bright moonlight all night, but it's not as cold as it has been these last few nights.
