Hello
We havenāt had a Night Owls thread for ages, so I thought Iād start one.
I know that there are quite a few of us about in the wee small hours, and it can be a lonely time.
So here it is.
I look forward to chatting in the nights and weeks to come x
Well Iām not. We have a large aeroplane practising night landings on the beach near by. Shakes the house. Mind you DH is fast asleep
I also refuse to go out until it is light.
Mine just expects a walk, but I canāt function without my first cup of tea.
Iāve just woken up! I did nod off watching tv last night. Have told the do sheās not having breakfast or sheāll expect it at 5 every morning!
MayBee70 - I think the only way I get to see the sunrise I'd if I'm already awake.
Hope everyone is asleep. š¤
Some neighbours didn't hear the police helicopter the other night so I might have got away with it!
Oh no! I fell asleep late yesterday afternoon. Woke up to watch a programme at 8 but fell asleep again till 4 am. Wonder if someoneās house alarm woke me up lol! Anyways, got up and started on the decluttering. Have found that Morris dancing music is great to spring clean to if you substitute dusters for hankies! Iām worried that playing music loud is disturbing my neighbours. My dog is having another sleep over and I canāt play loud music when sheās here: she sleeps on the sofa and likes her beauty sleep. As a whippet that means 23 hours a day.I donāt know how to change my sleep pattern. If I donāt get enough sleep I canāt function and tiredness makes me crave carbohydrates and eat a lot. Even the relaxation tapes etc arenāt getting me back to sleep. Iām house sitting at my daughters soon and hope I can get into a normal sleep pattern. Iāve always been semi nocturnal though, much as Iād love to wake up and see the sun rise.
Morning everyone. Hope you're sleeping. I slept quite a long time for me, but woke around 4. Tried to fool myself into dropping off again, but got up in the end and .... set the house alarm off! Dashed to switch it off and now hoping there aren't too many local night owls awake because of me.
Ginny. Unlike you I remained in the family home but Iām trying to sort out nearly fifty years of accumulated memories. I canāt imagine how I would be feeling if Iād been away for many years and then had to do it. How sensitive of your DGS to understand how you must be feeling. My husband and I never stopped loving each other but as far as our characters go, we should never have married and it was a lonely marriage. My daughter told me that I should have moved to another house when we split up and I think she was right. Too many memoriesā¦
I was so upset with my catchup tv not working (again) that after trying to get it sorted all day with no success (TalkTalk used to send engineers out but you just get bots these days) I fell asleep till 11 and decided to do some tidying up. But ended up going through books and cdās and then playing said cdās. The dog, who doesnāt like loud music, is having a sleepover so Iām playing a lot of my favourite stuff very loud. Iād forgotten how much music lifts my spirits. Had a couple of cups of non decaffeinated coffee and that keeps me awake for hours! Currently listening to Liege and Lief May move onto Steeleye Span or a bit of Neil Youngā¦
I like a wide variety of things on Netflix, some of the Korean series and Swedish films like Under Solen, films like I Used to be Famous and the Turkish film My Father's Violin. Have you tried Somebody Feed Phil? an easy watch and entertaining especially in the early hours.
I use GN like a magazine picking and choosing which threads interest me.
You have to be happy yourself with how the house looks. I hadn't realised that you had been divorced for such a long time. It must seem so strange being at the house now.
I love reading, Ginny, but l cannot seem to concentrate on anything at the moment. I can download magazines so l have been looking at some of those.
Like you, l have netflix. I like foreign crime series.
The estate agent advised me yesterday I could do less and it will fetch a good price, but I know how it should look. It does have to be cleared though and prepped for sale. Divorced for 33 years. It seems surreal.
Are you able to read? Do you have something to while away the wakeful hours?
I'm awake too Ginny. I did exactly the same, fell asleep at 7pm.
I woke up at 1.30am.
It sounds like you are very busy with your ex's house, no wonder you are exhausted.
Awake again and it's my own fault. I got over tired yesterday after 5 hours clearing out my ex's home, fell asleep about 7.pm and woke up at 12.30 with lights on and music playing. Now watching a series on Netflix.
Lucozade reminds me of my childhood too! It does boost energy levels and it's surely OK right now when other things taste awful. I just took paracetamol, which I normally don't like to take, but it did help with Covid symptoms. I know it's hard, but it literally is a day at a time, each day making even a tiny bit of progress and you will get there.
Thank you, yes l am trying to rest as much as possible. I know Fanny, Finn looks at me as if to say l will just have a sniff or ten at 11.00pm.
Drinking plenty of lucozade....l know many don't like but it reminds me of my childhood, bringing back happy memories. I am aching all over and have lost my sense of taste and smell now.
My ds and ddil continue to visit my dh daily and give me updates.
Oh Maya as if you haven't had enough to deal with, now Covid. I hope you are resting and looking after yourself. The hospital will take great care of your DH. šŗ
Aah, yes, Iāve been there too Maya. Especially when weāve gone away to a cottage.
I remember standing in the pouring Northumbrian rain at 2am; in my nightie and anorak; while Gracie just ambled around sniffing everything
Fortunately sheās not an active dog either, and can pop in and out of the cat flap into the garden.
But thatās not too great if she spots a fox during another 2am outing (she has a very loud bark for such a little dog).
I hope that you are feeling a tiny bit better today x
Image of you out in your PJs!
Thank you Ginny and Fanny. Unfortunately lm not sleeping.
I still have to take finny out as he refuses to go with anyone else but me.
I just put my coat on over my pyjamas and make sure no one else is around. It's a good thing he isn't an active dog.
Yes l am lucky that my DH is getting such good care where he is.
Thank you all for your support and guidance.
Oh Maya, you poor thing. Iām so sorry. Like Ginny says, please take care of yourself
Maya1! I don't know what to say. There are no words! Misfortune is just bombarding you at present.
Your DH is being cared for in hospital, so now you have to look after yourself and you will get through this. I know how unpleasant the symptoms are. Fortunately I was staying with my DD at the time. Stay hydrated and eat small nutritious snacks if you can. I expect your DD is bringing supplies.
Hope you're actually sleeping now.
Morning all,
Wide awake here. Unfortunately l have Covid. The first time l have caught it. I'm not feeling so good and l am unable to visit my DH.
I hope that my other Night Owls are fairing better than l.
Kim I prefer to think of myself as 'in tune with my body*!
Gosh, if your sleep pattern suggestions are accurate then I perhaps may have actually arrived at 'old'. Perish the thought!
