Hello smile
We haven’t had a Night Owls thread for ages, so I thought I’d start one.
I know that there are quite a few of us about in the wee small hours, and it can be a lonely time.
So here it is.
I look forward to chatting in the nights and weeks to come x

Awake and leafing through gentle threads about memories and a nostalgic thread about favourite biscuits from childhood. Lots on my mind about the recent death of my ex and helping my DD to cope with it all. Very long wait of a month for the funeral. It does mean once the arrangements are in place she can go home and come back for the funeral.

Creating a wet room will make a mess for a while, but it will be worth it for both your sakes Maya. It didn't take very long when I had mine done. I think there are grants for having them installed.

Hope you're catching some sleep. x

Good luck with Gracie's eye drops. Finn had to have them once and we really struggled with them and him.
The wet room is proving to be a problem, I have manged to get a couple of reputable quotes but the work cannot start until late April. It will be a big job in my very small house, its times like this l wish l had loads of space.

FannyCornforth Tue 31-Jan-23 09:27:10

Hello Maya I’m so pleased to hear that your husband is a tad better.
I really hope that things are put in place quickly.
When do you reckon that that wet room will be done? I imagine it’s a big job.
Thank you for your kind wishes. I’m supposed to be giving Gracie eyedrops three times a day.
It’s just impossible.
She’s also an antibiotics which fortunately seem to be doing a sterling job

FannyCornforth Tue 31-Jan-23 09:23:30

Thank you! Yes, I always think that it’s a rather ridiculous food stuff. Not exactly user friendly

NotSpaghetti Tue 31-Jan-23 09:16:30

Fanny.. simple.
I was cooking for my grandchildren and asked which pasta shape to cook and this was the resounding answer.
To be fair, it's quire often my answer too!

Maya1 Tue 31-Jan-23 08:25:27

Morning everyone.
DH was a little more responsive yesterday. I explained that we have to wait to get the carers inplace before he can come home. We need to get the bathroom made into a wetroom for him, l cannot believe how much they cost. However it is a necessity.
Sorry to hear that Mr C is having problems Fanny, l hope that he is soon sorted and feels better in himself. It is awful when our loved ones, including pets are poorly.
Hope you all enjoy your day.

Hello to you too NS. It's a very spasmodic site but I usually have a look in as I'm certainly often awake in the wee small hours. Not a problem. Just a quirky body clock. One son says 'to match my brain'. He slipped up there by acknowledging that I might even have one!

FannyCornforth Tue 31-Jan-23 07:00:08

Hello NS 👋
Can I ask you a question please?
I’ve always found your user name very intriguing.
What is the story behind it?

NotSpaghetti Tue 31-Jan-23 06:47:06

I had totally forgotten about this thread.
Hello all.

FannyCornforth Tue 31-Jan-23 06:22:13

Hope everyone has a good day, 🌞

Yes Ginny, I turned the heating off yesterday and had the windows open!

FannyCornforth Tue 31-Jan-23 06:20:03

Hello Ginny wow! That’s a good offer! I hope that you qualify.
I’ve slept like a log tonight.

I usually let Gracie out around two to have a wee and give her her meds, but I couldn’t wake up sufficiently, so MrC had to do the honours.

The GP rang yesterday. MrC had to have some blood tests done. He’s badly iron deficient, so it’s a relief to find out what it currently the matter with him. He has absolute zero energy.
He’s got to have a poo test done to rule out bowel cancer.

Thinking of you Maya thanksx

MrsKen33 Tue 31-Jan-23 06:16:56

Amazingly I have just woken up. 9 hours. Except for DH sitting bolt upright about 1%:30 ans saying he was dizzy. Then going immediately back to sleep. He won’t remember at all when I ask him why?

Hope everyone is alright. Raining here but what’s new.

Ginny42 Tue 31-Jan-23 05:33:09

Awake since 2.30 and wondered how the night owls are doing. How are you doing Maya? I hope you are sleeping and there is better news about your DH. flowers

I notice it's several degrees warmer than of late, so may even turn the heating down at last. Yesterday I had the house inspection for solar panels in a scheme with the local council for me to have them free. Yes! I know! I think it's the way we must all go eventually so I hope I qualify.

Hope everyone is having a peaceful night. x

It’s such a worrying time for you Maya, I really do feel for you.
I’m certain that it will be much better when he’s home.
And then just take it is it comes and enjoy all of the little things

Maya1 Sun 29-Jan-23 11:07:22

Thanks Fanny, l hope so. I worry that he is giving up.
I keep telling him we will manage but l don't know if he is listening.
I tell myself it will be better when l can get him home and it's back to being just us and Finn.

FannyCornforth Sun 29-Jan-23 10:19:27

Thank you Maya, she’s fine, still dashing around, even with her lampshade on.
I’m sure that your husband will do much better when he’s home with you.
I really hope that they get the care package sorted soon x

Maya1 Sun 29-Jan-23 10:14:11

Sorry to hear about Gracie's eye infection. I hope she feels better soon.
I've had days of being awake at 1.00am or 2.00am Mrs Ken, it's really not very nice but l make myself a tea and give Finn a cuddle and make the best of it.
My DH continues to improve slowly, thank you for your kind thoughts. He won't eat though and really isn't talking much.
It must be very distressing for him.
The hospital is trying to get carers in place to enable him to come home.

Alioop Sun 29-Jan-23 03:29:58

Morning, hope everyone is doing ok, so many worrying times for some of you flowers
Hope Gracie's eye infection heals quickly Fanny, eye drops are a nightmare. My Ivy gets 4 tablets a day and she clamps her mouth so tight when she sees me coming with them.
The last three days here have been really nice here, but I believe the rain is due back through the morning. On my dog walks I've noticed the daffodils starting to appear, some have budded, just shows how mixed up the weather is.
Hope you all have a peaceful Sunday.

MrsKen33 Sun 29-Jan-23 03:23:13

Ungodly hour !!!!!

MrsKen33 Sun 29-Jan-23 03:22:40

Hello Fanny I’ve been awake since 1:30. I had a really busy day yesterday so was hopeful of a nice uninterrupted sleep. But it doesn’t work that way does it.?
And to anyone else awake at this ungodly God bless.

FannyCornforth Sun 29-Jan-23 02:30:33

Hello to anyone awake 👋
My sympathies to you and your daughter Ginny, I’ve only just read your sad news thanks

Maya I hope that things are going okay with you and your husband thanks

Gracie has had the op on her eye, but it’s got an infection.
I’ve just got up to give her antibiotics, painkillers and eye drops (the latter being very tricky)

Ginny42 Fri 27-Jan-23 03:35:52

Early morning and it's white with frost. I looked up at the bathroom skylight and could see the stars.

Maya I hope you have better news about your DH. It's a worrying time for you, so I hope you're asleep. x

Cs783 Wed 25-Jan-23 06:28:41

My sympathies to you Ginny and to your daughter. How good that you were able to be there when needed.

Maya May your new boiler get sorted pronto. I hope you can get warm - maybe in bed even if you can’t sleep! I love a 15 minute boost from my electric blanket. I think of you and your worries about your DH. Wishing you some good news.

Ginny42 Wed 25-Jan-23 06:21:52

No heating? shock You should be a priority surely? It's a little warmer here in Cheshire, but I see very low temperatures recorded in other areas. Hope you're not in the -9C area.

We're fairly calm here considering. My DD and I have been awake and checking what needs to be done but we have lots of offers of help.

Hope things are looking better for you and your DH and you have support. Thinking of you both. x

Maya1 Wed 25-Jan-23 06:01:31

Sorry you are still awake Ginny, you are probably run down with all stress you are under. You sound as if you are lovely and warm though. I am freezing here, waiting for British Gas to sort out my heating. Its a new boiler less than 4 months old.
I'm pleased your daughter got back in tune to see her dad and you can now support one another.
Take care of yourselves.x
