Hello smile
We haven’t had a Night Owls thread for ages, so I thought I’d start one.
I know that there are quite a few of us about in the wee small hours, and it can be a lonely time.
So here it is.
I look forward to chatting in the nights and weeks to come x

FannyCornforth Thu 19-Jan-23 05:42:00

Sending you a hug as well Maya, from both of us x

She’s having a small operation next week.
She’s got a wart thing on her eye lid, and she’s having it removed.

FannyCornforth Thu 19-Jan-23 05:39:22

Ah, thank you Maya.
Finn is so lucky that he met you both. I bet that he is so loyal and loving.
‘Morning Sally 👋
It’s my birthday today, so here is a special photo of Gracie

Maya1 Thu 19-Jan-23 05:11:19

Hello Fanny
I've seen the pictures you have posted of Gracie, she is absolutely beautiful.
Finn is a rescued Border Collie, just turned 12 and unfortunately his health isn't great either. We adopted him when he was a year old. He had been mistreated and abused. He is scared of stairs and cannot be left in enclosed spaces.
The last 11 years have been amazing though, we have met new friends both people and dogs and l can honestly he is my best friend.

Morning Fanny 👋

Morning all. Am wide awake again … DH and DCat are snoring next to me so I’ve given up trying to sleep!

Oh Mayal I’m so sorry to hear your DH is in hospital - what a worry for you. I do so hope that the Dr and/or nurses will have some news for you and that he starts to improve. Nights can be lonely times - I’m glad you have your dog. They can be such a comfort can’t they.
Be kind to yourself. I hope you have some good friends and/or neighbours you can talk to. Do accept any offers of help. Thinking of you and sending you a big hug 🌻🌻 xx

Hello Maya thanks
Tell me about your dog.
Mine is currently snoring at the foot of the bed too.
Her name is Gracie. She’s 7 and a Tibetan Spaniel/ Bichon Frise cross.
My husband and I have had a pretty shocking few years, and she’s really got us through at times.
They are amazing, aren’t they

Maya1 Thu 19-Jan-23 04:44:31

Morning everyone
Thank you for kind wishes and support. I have been awake since 3.30am wondering what is going to happen next.
I went to see my DH yesterday, not much improvement, unfortunately l couldn't speak to a doctor and the nurses were not able to tell me anything.
Besides his other symptoms, l noticed he seems to have a problem swallowing.
I do feel very alone at the moment, at least l have the dog, although he is snoring right now. He is a great comfort though.

Oh Mayal I’m so sorry to hear this. There’s usually some of us around in the early hours if you need to talk to someone x

Alioop Wed 18-Jan-23 08:17:10

Oh Mayal my heart goes out to you. Sending you a great big hug. 🌹💞🌹

FannyCornforth Wed 18-Jan-23 06:27:31

Oh, you poor thing. I know exactly how you feel. I wish I could say something more helpful.
Just be kind to yourself

Maya1 Wed 18-Jan-23 05:39:34

Thanks Fanny.
They have him on blood thinners and have given him aspirin and are doing a number of different scans. His legs are not working properly and his speech is really slurred. He is doubly incontinent. I am worried that the treatment will cause more problems for his kidneys as he had a kidney pancreas transplant 11 years ago. They didn't have a choice though.
I'm struggling to be honest. I feel so helpless.

FannyCornforth Wed 18-Jan-23 05:29:07

Oh Maya. I’m sorry to hear about your husband’s illness. thanks
How is he doing, have you heard anything from the hospital?
And how are you? I hope you are ok

Maya1 Wed 18-Jan-23 05:24:08

Mornings all
Hope you don't mind if l join you all. I have had trouble sleeping properly since September 2021 when l started sleeping on the sofa to keep the dog coming as he suffers with dementia and other ailments.
My husband is now very poorly, still no diagnosis after 14 months. He was taken to hospital yesterday with a suspected stroke.Ddil took him in the car as ambulance would have been an hour. I don't drive.
Take care everyone and hope some if not all of you can get some rest.

My head is abuzz. Have a return train booked from London to here up north on 1st of Feb and it's just been announced that this is to be a rail strike day. Joy indeed! I'm a pretty good all rounder from my age but my Achilles heel is definitely hassle. This is decidedly hassle for me. Will venture into the big city today and see what my alternatives are by talking to a human being in the railway station. Fingers crossed!

Morning, another -2°, I had a peek out to check how the deep the snow is now as the police closed the main road that leads to my house last night as it was too dangerous. My friend and I were going to the cinema later, but I don't think we will leave it to another day. Everyone take care if it's bad where you are.

Georgesgran Wed 18-Jan-23 04:04:32

Still awake, but I don’t stress about it. Battery nearly gone, so won’t witter. X

Doodledog Tue 17-Jan-23 07:00:58

Commiserations, Alioop. I hope your day goes well too.

Alioop Tue 17-Jan-23 06:49:05

I went bed at 11pm and woke up again at 1.30 and I've clock watched all night long, it's so annoying. Its -2° here, I haven't got out of bed yet to see if there's any snow, but the grass was crispy at 10pm when the dog was let out. Hope you all have a nice day.

Doodledog Tue 17-Jan-23 06:03:37

I’m tired now, but am going to haul my bones downstairs and power through the day in the hope of getting some sleep tonight. I hate insomnia. Luckily I don’t have to go out today.

NotAGran55 Tue 17-Jan-23 05:54:21

Morning all. Bad night, one of those waking every 90 minute ones. Finally gave up at 5 and just finished watching the second episode of the Miriam Margolyes Oz program.
I know she is a marmite character but I love her.

lixy Tue 17-Jan-23 05:51:36

Watching the tennis text commentary is not very sleep inducing I've found!
Play was suspended due to extreme heat in the middle of the day.

Doodledog Tue 17-Jan-23 05:43:09

I think I’ll get up at 6.00. If I put the tv on in bed I’ll go back to sleep. I can watch it downstairs with a coffee before starting the day.

MayBee70 Tue 17-Jan-23 05:41:38

Binge watching House of the Dragon. I knew if I watched one episode I ‘d end up binge watching it. It isn’t Game of Thrones but it’s growing on me. Now going to watch a bit of Bob to get to sleep. I’m just becoming totally nocturnal.

Doodledog Tue 17-Jan-23 05:38:33

Morning all! I’ve been awake since 2.00am, and have given up on going back to sleep. If I did, it would be 11.00 when I woke up and I have things to do. It’s so frustrating lying awake, isn’t it?
