Good morning from rainy Shropshire.

We were meant to be looking after B today but DD and SIL both have covid. They have had a tough couple of weeks.

We have decided to take the decorations down today. We would normally wait until 12th night too.My job will be to carry everything upstairs then clean downstairs and DH will pack everything away.He is very good at packing and we too have decided not to put the decorations in the loft .

grandMattie your comment about knitting spare baby Jesus’ made me laugh.DD2’s cat has run off with their baby Jesus!I’m sure he’ll turn up at some point!

It’s good to see Ash and kitty progressing so well with their recoveries🥳💪🏼

I will have to look out for that game Mary.It looks like one all three grandchildren would enjoy and could play together🌬🩲

Happy birthday to the Imp🎂

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Gingster Tue 03-Jan-23 08:56:13

Thanks Marydoll I’ll look into the*Windy Knickers ‘ game. My little gd is the same age as your dolly, so I’m sure it will be just right. 😂

Good morning from a damp Sefton. It was very frosty with a clear sky yesterday evening so very surprised to see its damp & mild this morning.
Back to normal (Yay!) today with my strength exercise class in half an hour. I'd better get a move on. Thank goodness it's on Zoom. Then a bit of food shopping & soup making but no other plans.
Take care all. Will catch up with all your news later.

Morning Mick and all from, this morning, South Perthshire where it's 1°. After the balmy climate of Lincs and Notts, this feels brutal! I thought I'd just transfer my stuff from DD's car to mine when we got here at 10pm last night but my car is frozen solid and will take a few gallons of lukewarm water to break into - a jolly job for later. I have to pop into Perth on my way home to sort something out with my phone and to grab a few basic foodstuffs while I'm passing M&S. It'll be so nice to be home again, though I shall miss all my lovely people of course. Just so happy that they're in my life and happy living their own.
It's a small world, isn't it. I waved to you as we drove past Carlisle last night, Ekwa. 😉And I think it was Kitty who talked about her DH's delight at Nottingham Forests draw the other day? Well my DGD was actually at that match with New Man and one of his son's - apparently it was a great match with lots of action!
Now I must get this show on the (icy) road. Have a good day everybody as we all get back to our normal every days - with not a little relief even though it's been lovely. xx

Good morning from a cool NE after a night of harsh frost.
I had a very quiet day yesterday, stayed in bed until lunchtime and then caught up with recorded TV programmes.
Dinner was the leftovers from NYD dinner, I do enjoy reheated vegetables.
Nothing on the calendar for today so will take it easy again because I am having lunch out tomorrow with family.
Have a good day.

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Madeira.
The temperatures are very pleasant about 22 which suits us but last night it got chilly walking back from the restaurant. Definitely a cardigan or jacket it’s needed at this time of year here.
While we were waiting for our family to arrive we relaxed around the pool DH opened a parasol and there were a swarm of wasps who had taken residence among the folds so we made a hasty exit to another location. It’s lovely having our family here so today we will show them around Funchal.

My mossie bites are not too itchy now so had a better night sleep. We went to a pharmacy who gave us a cream which has I think 10% hydrocortisone and with a piriton they feel better but they look like big red blobs some of them so I won’t be wearing shorts.

Wishing GGs little Imp a very happy birthday 🎉

Have a good day all and thoughts to those feeling ill or stressed hope you have a better day. 🌻🌻

Good morning from East London . A beautiful pink sky this morning when I woke up- a bit late !
Everyone seems to be getting back to normal. I’m reluctant to take down the decorations but should do today so DS can put them into the attic when he visits this eve. Several local friends who have been away for Christmas are returning home one by one , it will be nice to see them again . Think I will go for another brisk local walk today as my gentle exercise gym class hasn’t started yet again and I can’t go swimming for 4 week’s following a very successful cataract op just before Christmas. Wishing everyone a good day . Just seen on the news that anyone feeling unwell should wear a mask when out ! Why are they out anyway ??

GrannySomerset Tue 03-Jan-23 08:31:14

Dismal and very wet morning which is no incentive to get going. Ugh. Restock at supermarket necessary as DD and DSiL
will be back overnight as we have to set off fairly early tomorrow for my dear friend’s funeral. Need to put away the few Christmas bits which I had on display though may leave the cards out for another couple of days because some only arrived after Christmas. Best get moving!

SunshineSally Tue 03-Jan-23 08:30:44

Oopsadaisy1 I hope your conversation with MzOops has a happy outcome for you all 🤞 x

Good morning Mick and everyone from rainy Carlisle. Looks like gardening will be off for the day but we'll see.
Yesterday I finished off the laundry then pottered around doing little jobs before sitting down to more relaxing stuff. I was pleased to watch the new series of Silent Witness in the evening but it wasn't the thing to watch too soon after dinner!
Today I will have to haul the vacuum out, I didn't get around to it before I went away for Christmas week. Other things may or may not get done, I never feel dynamic on these dark days.

Wishing you all a pleasant day if possible.

Gingster Tue 03-Jan-23 08:16:46

Good morning all and it seems as if ‘normal service’ has resumed in most households on here. I do like my routine and to know what day it is. I spent yesterday thinking it was Saturday! 🤯.

Yesterday, whilst DH was out watching footie with ds1, I made a delicious Stilton and broccoli soup. More for today. It really is my favourite although not good for the waistline, as I do put in a lot of Stilton.
Also did a lot of cleaning and clearing - very satisfying and therapeutic. I need some flowers also to brighten up the house now the decs are down. It looks so bare.

Today I have my Bridge club and might go in search of a new watch as the jewellers were all closed when I went up the other day, .

Lovely blue sky ash - I thought you were in foreign parts. Well done with your walking. 👍.

Do let us know how you play ‘windy knickers’ Marydoll it sounds just my gds cup of tea. 😂.

I see you enjoyed a day in Orford yesterday nannytopsy. I love it there. The bird life is amazing.

Enjoy your day everyone, as best you can.

Kalu Tue 03-Jan-23 08:15:22

Good morning all from Glasgow. Still dark and raining, quite a contrast to yesterday which was blue skies and sunshine although chilly.

Décorations will be down and packed away this morning then we are having a day out…..to Waitrose. Living life in the fast lane here.

Best wishes to all for a good day and a better day for those under par.

Fifiw Tue 03-Jan-23 08:15:19

Good morning from a mild wet and murky Warwickshire.
Friend visiting Starting to bring Christmas decorations down
Have a good day everyone

NannyJan53 Tue 03-Jan-23 08:12:38

Good morning from a dull and damp Black Country, where it is 7deg at the moment.

Today is Mum's 93rd birthday! She has been saying "if I am still here next year" since she was 80 smile We are taking her out to lunch today with my Brother and SIL.

Lovely photo's Ash such a lovely blue sky, it looks like summer.

Wishing you all the best day possible, with special thoughts of those feeling poorly or down.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 03-Jan-23 08:10:10

Good morning from the South Downs.

A lovely day yesterday, so went out for a couple of hours onto the downs. Enjoyed the fresh air, and views, but oh so muddy! All I ever wear are my wellingtons these days.

Today rain is forecast, just for a change😡😡.

kitty sounding good - wait until you try a hill🙂🙂.

ginny Tue 03-Jan-23 08:02:53

Good morning everyone from a dark and wet N. Bucks.
We are off in a while to look after smallest DGS while DD3 takes his brother and two cousins out to a play centre. Unfortunately he is unable to go as he has chickenpox.
This afternoon we will take down the decorations and pack them away. We have a large under stairs cupboard so luckily don’t have to get up to te loft.
Hope toda is kind to you all .

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 03-Jan-23 07:57:25

Morning all from a still dark West Oxfordshire. When I went to bed last night at around 11 pm, my car was frozen but this morning it isn’t. I’m going to Oxford this morning to get a birthday present for my sister and some wool to knit a cardigan. Maybe one or two other things as well. I will make a start on taking down the decorations when I get back home. It is OH’s turn to cook but as he’s going out this evening I expect he’ll find something in the freezer which requires little preparation! Have a good day everyone, especially those who are suffering.

cornergran Tue 03-Jan-23 07:51:37

Morning Mick, morning All from a very wet corner of Somerset.

Christmas packed away yesterday apart from some cushions and the outside lights which need to dry first. Caught up with the admin. Mr C changed the bed before being left in peace to begin a little wooden model, a change from a jigsaw anyway although it does mean the dining table has disappeared again.

Grocery delivery and dust removal today, ironing too. May venture out later if the rain stops for a while. All very back to normal.

Take care everyone. Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.

Jaxjacky Tue 03-Jan-23 07:51:20

Morning from S Hampshire, I’ll take Sally’s word on the weather. Set the alarm as I’ve a nurse practitioner appointment at 8:50.
Collected some ordered bits from M&S yesterday and made some catch up phone calls.
Progress kitty.
Enjoy your day all 🦩🦩

Sar53 Tue 03-Jan-23 07:47:58

Good morning from a damp Essex by the sea.
DH still coughing but obviously better than a few days ago.
I shall be giving the lounge a thorough clean now that all the Christmas decs have been put away.
Have a lovely Tuesday everyone xx

baubles Tue 03-Jan-23 07:45:43

Good morning all from damp South Lanarkshire.

DS and family decided to stay another night as there was a very hard frost as the began to pack up the car at four pm yesterday.
They now intend to head off by 10am…..we’ll see, they seem to take an age to do anything.

I’m definitely on the mend but DH is still struggling, I will try to persuade him to ring the surgery.

We may pop over to see DD later as we haven’t seen her over the New Year due to her being ill and all plans cancelled.

Everyone will go back to work tomorrow and it’ll be back to old clothes and porage. grin

Smashing photos Ash!

Have the best day possible folks, hoping that all the poorly people feel a little better.

Marydoll Tue 03-Jan-23 07:44:06

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it is 1°C, so much better than the -3° of yesterday.
We hardy Scots would need to turn down the heating, if it was 8°C, outside, GM.

Well done on your two mile walk Ash, your procedure sounds like it has improved your quality of life.

Yesterday, DIL and I had great fun with Dollie, playing a game called, Windy Knickers. It is not as rude as it sounds,. 😉
In fact, we were asked by the football watching duo next door to tone the noise down. 🤣

The two trees and decorations will come down today, we used to wait until. The Epiphany, but I'm tired of them.

Have a good day folks.
