Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark with signs of overnight rain here in brackley this morning.
Yesterday , I did get the bus to Bicester and then came straight back as a tester , but also paid the £2 single fare as well which is available now until end of March .
Today, I will go to Bicester again to do a proper shop and have a coffee as well..
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning everyone from a grey and overcast Northampton. I have no intention of going anywhere today after a very late night.

I too wondered what Mick was doing paying for the bus; as we are in the same county I know that it is free after 9.30am with a pass. Wouldn't know what to do without mine as a lot of the activities I go to need a bus to get there.

Had a lovely evening yesterday in the company of a few neighbours, with good food, drink and conversation. It was well after midnight by the time we made our very short journeys home! Another evening at a different neighbour is planned for Friday.

A lazy day today is planned after a very late night, and will catch up on some tv again this afternoon. Need to get some sausages out of the freezer for tonight's dinner, which I shall have with cheesy potato skins and baked beans.

May Wednesday treat us all kindly.

Good morning from Shropshire.

DD2 now has strep😭B went back to school this morning.Just had a text from DD saying he sobbed leaving the house which isn’t like him.It has been a difficult couple of weeks with them all being ill.SIL isn’t back until tomorrow,DD ill in bed whereas normally they all leave the house together and B goes to breakfast club.I’m sure he will be fine once he sees his pals.

We have another day at home so will catch up on laundry and admin this morning then this afternoon I will carry on with reading one of my new Christmas books.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Good morning all from another gloomy day in Stockport.
I had a half decent night’s sleep so feel a little better this morning.
On the subject of buses, we have or had a community bus which comes onto our estate, very handy when I was more mobile.
Apart from being able to get to the local shops which was great, it also went into the grounds of the local hospital which was wonderful for me on the occasions when my H was in hospital but it was suddenly rerouted and is no use at all now for us as as soon as it reaches the main road it diverts away from our large village/ small town.
I have the excitement of a Sainsbury’s order being delivered between 1 and 2pm and the disappointment of no win on the premium bonds this month.
Have the best day you can everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 04-Jan-23 09:11:33

Congratulations GrannyFarAway to your DD and family.

Enjoy cuddles with your new Grandson 💙

A lighter sky and just a peep of some sun here in Shropshire..
Think we will go out to the garden centre,it’s a nice run in the country and hopefully a coffee and cake,no doubt be tempted to buy something. My cyclamen plant is looking a bit sad so maybe time for a replacement.
Hope everyone has a nice day.

Good morning to all from Oulton Broad in Suffolk. I'm delighted to say I became a granny yesterday, 06:45 3/1/23. Baby boy, lots of dark hair, born to my daughter, 8lbs, one week overdue. Birth went well. No name yet but they have a list and are deciding which name/s suits him. Can't wait to see him properly though we've had a couple of pictures so far. They live in Cambridge which is about 2 hours from here and I hope to see them very soon; giving them a chance to have some time with him, getting used to him, etc, first. Lovely to see this very active site and forum! Nice to be a granny at last!

Our bus passes are the same but everyone gets the bus just after 9.30 into town and what’s more they all know each other including the driver. It is quite a party! Fortunately we have plenty of buses so far.

EkwaNimitee Wed 04-Jan-23 08:53:55

Good morning Mick and everyone from a grey-looking Carlisle where it is barely light...sunrise is about 8.35 at the mo and we now have an extra 10mins of daylight at the end of the day. If you can call it daylight most days, yesterday was gloomy all day with frequent showers. Last night was very windy, something I don't often get wakened by here.

Today there will be an onslaught on the ironing possibly followed by a bit of bathroom cleaning then I shall either garden after lunch or read, the latter looking more likely.

Re bus passes, I thought I would be using mine a lot here in the city but in 18 months, I haven't. The bus stop is 10 minutes walk away, then I have to wait for the bus which takes about 15 minutes or so into the centre. Whereas, in the car, 10 minutes finds me parked up in the centre where parking even on the street has not been a problem. So convenience is winning out though at this time of year I wouldn't like to be on a bus with folks coughing and spluttering.

Have a pleasant day all, maybe some of you may find there is a sun somewhere!

aggie Wed 04-Jan-23 08:52:28

Good morning, it’s dry and breezy here ,in Co Armagh, the clouds are scudding across a leaden sky
Friend coming for a crochet lesson this morning , no doubt chat and coffee will be included

Grandmabatty Wed 04-Jan-23 08:42:04

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and dreich. Lots of rain forecast. I still have a table lamp on as it's very dark and gloomy. It also looks windy. grannysomerset a hard day for you to say goodbye to your oldest friend. Marydoll a day resting for you, I think.
Yesterday I was very lazy and I enjoyed every minute of it! The last of the New Year leftovers were eaten.
Today I will visit mum, then my poorly chum. This afternoon I'm invited to afternoon tea with other friends at my art tutor's house. I'm looking forward to it. I shouldn't need much for dinner later. So a busy day but a pleasant one. Have a good day all.

Greyduster Wed 04-Jan-23 08:37:51

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s dry in South Yorkshire but that’s about all you can say about it at the moment. At least a walk outside may be on the cards. My efforts to tackle the tax man fell on stony ground yesterday due to a missing piece of paper. Further efforts to find it will take up my time today. It means fiddling about in the freezing cold garage where the big filing cabinet is! Ah’ll ‘ave ter get me big coat on!😁
No pressure Whitewave! Enjoy your lunch!
Have the best day you can folks.

In England, or at least in Kent, one can’t use the bus pass before 0930 on weekdays, dragon. Our bus leaves for Canterbury at 0928 so usually have to wait another hour if I don’t want to pay!

I’ve encountered this on an X5 which also cunningly left just before 9.30 and or friendly bus driver would not let us “oldies” flash our bus passes until the first stop 5 minutes later outside MK theatre. No doubt he was bending the rules but cui bono ?

Good morning from North Yorkshire. 11 degrees and very windy here.
Hygienist this morning then a wander around the market in town. I must finish the third quarter accounts for the charity later and do a claim for some funding.
Finished series 1 of Happy Valley last night. Will start series 2 this evening.
Wishing everyone a good day.

MawtheMerrier Wed 04-Jan-23 08:30:10

Good morning all from N Bucks where the rain seems to have stopped at last. Meeting friends for coffee (the first of my 23 in 23) and liking the the thought of “getting back to normal”
Glad you are out and about Mick but what are you doing paying £2 for the buses? I can get to Oxford or Cambridge on the X5 for nothing using my bus pass!
Happy sound of bin lorries outside, I noticed a few recycling bags had blown around the pavements when I walked Rosie at bedtime so I am quite glad we are moving to wheelie bins of different colours in the near future. There has been much discussion on the local FB page about which day is actually bin day after Christmas and New Year, and this amused me!
Wishing you all a pleasant day.

If you are over 60 or have a disability, you are eligible for free bus travel to get around Scotland and your local area.
There are no time restrictions on buses, but trains must be used for concessionary travel after 9am in the LA, where the card was issued.

However, if you have a hospital appointment and need to travel by train before 9am, you can show your appointment letter.
Not a bad scheme at all.

Good morning from the South Downs.

Oh dear my resolution of reading and posting on this thread is wobbling already. I haven’t time to read all the posts this morning.

Well, I hope everyone is well and nothing horrible happening.

I’m off out to lunch with friends today to a dear little pub in the Sussex countryside between Lewis and Tunbridge Wells.

Good morning all and it feels milder and drier here in Essex,

Little gd arriving at 9.30 while her mum has jobs to do, then eldest gd coming about 11 and we’ll meet Dd in town and go to the local Turkish restaurant for lunch. I’ve promised To take them for ages and it’s now or never as school is back tomorrow and Uni (when she can get back due to train strikes) . Little gd will have a bowl of chips. 😤.

It’s market day too so we’ll have a wander and see what’s on offer.

Happy birthday to your gd Sar.

Healing thoughts to poorlies and those who have worries. 🙏

Morning all from what sounds a windy West Oxfordshire. I need to pop to the Post Office this morning and post my sister’s birthday present to Australia. I have bits of admin to do ready for the WI committee meeting this evening. I’m Secretary. When I get home I will be listening to a talk on the railways in London. Have a good day.

Good morning from a cloudy Black Country where it is 12 deg here too.

Lovely lunch for Mums birthday yesterday. Niece managed to get a couple of hours away from work, so that was a nice surprise for Mum. Mum now has enough Chocs and biscuits to sink a battle ship smile

This morning I am meeting up with a group of friends for breakfast.

I managed to secure a face to face doctor appointment for next week NanKate as my eyes are increasingly becoming sore and runny, and suspect it is Dry Eyes! A friend says she has a prescription for Hypromellose for this.

I think as you age Oops the last thing you want is to be living out in the 'stick's' , I can understand how upsetting the conversation would be though.

Have a lovely day everyone.

karmalady Wed 04-Jan-23 08:04:51

good morning from windy s somerset, I hope the day unfolds with a lighter sky than yesterday

Oops, I had similar two years ago one AC said `mum we thought we could combine together for a bigger property` my answer was `that is not a good idea` and that idea sunk out of sight with no fuss. Besides being too tied to one, it would be far too close. Best to remain completely independent for very many reasons, including financial

My gas usage was down 78% compared to last week. I had lowered the thermostat and also lit my stove yesterday. I am on a savings mission this year, really pushing myself to partly replenish savings pot depletion from moving and settling in 3 1/2 years ago

Good morning all from a windy Black country.
All Christmas packed away for another year and another bag taken to the charity shop, my aim this year is to take at least one bag a month it's time I started to declutter.
Today I'm meeting the Dil and boys for lunch, eldest back to school tomorrow little one at nursery until 12.
Enjoy your Wednesday everyone and may you all find some 🌞.

Good morning from a wet and dark Leicestershire.

Great news kitty onwards and upwards!
I am confused Mick as to why you have to pay on the bus. Do you not have a bus pass?

Walking with the neighbours was fun yesterday. Got to know a lot about the recent new neighbours. We plan to make it a regular thing and extend it to barbecues etc on the green in the summer.

Meeting friends for coffee this morning.

Is MzOops your DD Oops or your DGD and is MissOops also your DD? Sorry just nosey!

GrannyGravy13 Wed 04-Jan-23 08:01:43

Morning all

It’s just getting light, it’s windy, raining and grey here in S E Essex.

Wishing your DGD a Happy Fifth Birthday Sar53 🎂

Baby steps kittylester you have been very poorly, take each day as it comes 😘

My cleaning fairies are here this morning (which is why the Christmas decorations came down early) so I am going to the gym, first time in three weeks. No doubt I will ache tomorrow 🤣

This afternoon The Imp is coming with his big brother and Mummy, for cuddles and cake. He is a cheeky little monkey but boy do I love him, I think it’s because I was the first person to see him when he entered this world.

Ashcombe I have only been to Torbay once, it was for a conference. We were fortunate with the weather and I totally understand the nickname English Riviera

grandMattie please post pictures of your Roscon de los Reyes I have fond memories of being in Spain for the Parade of the Kings with my Parents and siblings. They rode on Camels along the paseo throwing sweeties into the crowd 👑👑👑🍬🍬🍬

Have a good Wednesday folks 🙋‍♀️🦩
