Bristol University have announced the result of an important scientific study they have carried out:
a new effective treatment for cancer? No.
A new eco-friendly form of energy? No

They have announced that after research - they have found the best way to skim a stone across water!

I am so glad that time and money is being spent on such an important topic hmm

Leaves you with your mouth open doesn’t it? They should have asked me; I’m an expert and I come cheap!

Oh of course.

Its not like understanding how the interaction of solids and liquids might contribute to the understanding of the icing of aeroplanes, or the stabilisation of air flight, or the design of aircraft wings. (All taken from the conclusions in the actual paper, not the newspapers' sensationalist coverage)

No, let's all just snigger at something we don't understand.

Dambusters!

Not sniggering.

My husband used to look at the propagation of shockwaves through dusty gases. No one paid him , it was part of a PhD thesis. Perhaps this is the same ?

Anything that increases our understanding of How Stuff Works is fine by me.

Anyone who thinks there's a difference between playing and education doesn't know the first thing about either.

Newton discovered gravity when an apple fell on his bonce.

Well, he didn't really, but he could have... 🤣 🍎 🌳
